We continue reminding you of all the epic series beginning around New Years, starting today with ITV's JERICHO which will air in January starring Jessica Raine and Hans Matheson. Set in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1870s, the 8 part drama focuses upon the shanty town of Jericho, home to a community that will live, thrive and die in the shadow of the viaduct they’ve been brought together to build. Rough, rustic and remote with a carnival atmosphere, Jericho is a community of pioneers, settlers and outcasts, people with secrets to hide and those looking to start again.

Meanwhile, rival BBC is all ready and set to start airing their wonderful new half hour series DICKENSIAN from Saturday December 26th! The enchanting 20 part drama will be set within the fictional realms of Charles Dickens' critically acclaimed novels, bringing together some of his most iconic characters as their lives intertwine in 19th century London. Stephen Rea as Inspector Bucket, Tom Weston Jones as Meriwether Compeyson, Pauline Collins as Mrs Gamp, Ned Dennehy as Scrooge, Anton Lesser as Fagin, Caroline Quentin as Mrs Bumble, are all set to star!

BBC is finally ready to start airing 20 half hour episodes of DICKENSIAN drama in which some of ... ...  the most famous of Dickensian characters, including Mrs Bumble, Mrs Havisham and Mr Scrooge, live together in the same street of Victorian London! The cast is lead by legendary British thespians Caroline Quentin, Pauline Collins and Stephen Rea! The 90 metre cobbled ... ... street in which they all live has a pub, a church, law courts, The Old Curiosity Shop, The Three Cripples Pub, and, of course, Fagin's Den!

'AND THEN THERE WERE NONE'

BBC is also set to air long awaited small screen adaptation of Agatha Christie's bestselling novel AND THEN THERE WERE NONE at Christmas too! The 1930's three part mini series revolves around ten strangers on an island who are killed one by one. Charles Dance, Miranda Richardson, Douglas Booth and Aidan Turner lead the cast!

Over at Sky One you can watch brilliant Timothy Spall as  FUNGUS THE BOGEYMAN a three fart series about Fungus, his wife Mildew and son Mould who struggle to fit in with the “drycleaners” (people) of Daventry. It’s a tale of slimy monsters, dangerous humans and what happens when the things that go bump in the night move in next door.

Well, now she's got herself a dashing partner in the muscly form of Kellan Lutz and the two of them will also see Kelsey Grammer as an addition to the international cast! The film is being planned as the largest ever budgeted Chinese Australian coproduction. To be filmed in 3D, NEST tells the tale of a team of scientists who discover a swarm of deadly, intelligent and carnivorous funnel web spiders. Battling through an ancient labyrinth, the team must learn the secret behind the spiders’ heightened abilities before its too late

Two trailers for you today, starting with the first teaser for Nordic epic movie BIRKEBEINERNE which hits Nordic cinemas next February and has just been bought for US distribution as THE LAST KING. The film stars Jakob Oftebro (Kon-Tiki) and Kristofer Hivju (Game Of Thrones) as medieval warriors who embark on a perilous journey through the snowy and icy Norwegian mountains to take their dying king’s infant son to safety and save the throne from the evil Bishop. As I told you before, also starring Pål Sverre Hagen and Thorbjørn Harr, and set at the beginning of the 13th century this epic adventure brings the story of the greatest flight which changed Norwegian history forever.

Now the news of the day is extremely exciting: our dearest Prince Charming and King of the North Richard Madden and Dustin Hoffman are set to lead the cast of new eight part historical TV series MEDICI: MASTERS OF FLORENCE which would chronicle the rise of the Medici family and the Italian Renaissance! THE MAN IN THE HIGHT CASTLE's Frank Spotnitz is producing the series following the story of the family’s ascent from simple merchants to power brokers who sparked an economic and cultural revolution, in the process creating a long list of powerful enemies. Richard Madden will play enterprising son Cosimo de’ Medici, and Hoffman is family patriarch Giovanni de’ Medici.

The series is set in the realm populated by fictional characters from Charles Dickens’ novels including Scrooge, Fagin and Miss Havisham, as their lives intertwine in 19th century London. The Old Curiosity Shop sits next door to The Three Cripples Pub, while Fagin’s Den is hidden down a murky alley off a bustling Victorian street. Are you ready for the return of hilarious Mike Buckster and his family? Because this Friday marks the start of the fifth season of beloved ABC family sitcom LAST MAN STANDING starring Tim Allen and Nancy Travis.  In the new season Mike has returned from being on a fantastic two-month road trip, travelling to far-flung places for Outdoor Man, the sporting goods emporium where he is marketing director. Now, it isn't yet known if he will star in it too, but Hollywood hunk Channing Tatum will produce the big screen adaptation of popular best selling novel TWO KISSES FOR MADDY from Matthew Logelin for Sony Pictures. The heart breaking story of the emotional book revolves around a father who must raise his newborn daughter alone after his wife tragically dies 27 hours after childbirth. As Maddy grows older, her father gives her two kisses each night, one from himself and one from her mother.

Meanwhile, in TV news, something rather interesting coming from BBC! They are preparing a 20 half hour episode series DICKEN- SIAN which will bring together some of the writer's most iconic characters as their lives intertwine in unique and surprising ways in 19th Century London.

The stellar cast will include Caroline Quentin (as 'Oliver Twists' Mrs Bumble), Peter Firth, Stephen Rea (as tenacious Inspector Bucket from 'Bleak House'), Pauline Collins (as gin-tippling Mrs Gamp from 'Martin Chuzzlewit'), Tuppence Middleton, Sophie Rundle, Omid Djalili, Anton Lesser, Ned Dennehy, Adrian Rawlins and Tom Weston-Jones. The 90-metre, cobbled 19th century street which has already been built by the studio for Dickens' characters to inhabit will also welcome Scrooge, Fagin and Miss Havisham among other literary faces!
