BRENDAN COWELL AND ASHER KEDDIE TO LEAD NEW AUSTRALIAN MINI TV SERIES PLUM

TO HAVE BRENDAN COWELL AND ASHER KEDDIE AS LEADS

Australian ABC is preparing a six episode series PLUM directed by Brendan Cowell who based it on his own book and will also take the lead next to Asher Keddie. It follows Peter ‘The Plum’ Lum, a 49-year-old national football treasure who lives with his son Gavin (Vincent Miller) and girlfriend Charmaine (María Dupláa) in Cronulla. It looks like Plum is living the dream until he discovers he has a brain disorder as a result of the hundreds of concussions he suffered on the field. The new diagnosis doesn’t receive its intended effect, as Plum would sooner hide, run, and head to the pub for drinks with the boys and pretend everything is peaches. But hiding from the truth isn’t easy when your ex-wife (Asher Keddie) cares too much and your son comes to realise the father he worships is falling off his mantle and the game they love might be to blame.

After stunning the audiences around the world in Cate Blanchett's mini series Stateless, Asher is now getting a series of her own: STRIFE will arrive to Binge and Foxtel December 6th this year with her leading the story of a modern, imperfect woman and publisher named Evelyn Jones and her journey from lounge room blogger to becoming a force in women’s media. The series comes from Made Up Stories, the company that created Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers. 

 

THE NEW SERIES WELCOMES US

 into the world of former magazine editor named Evelyn Jones (played by Keddie) as she makes the leap from blogger to leading force in women’s digital media with her website Eve. Evelyn is perfectly imperfect as she navigates the ever-changing world of publishing, the highs and lows of motherhood, and the end of her marriage to Jon, played by Matt Day. The series will also explore female friendships and workplace dynamics and is inspired by real life media mogul and Mamamia founder Mia Freedman’s bestselling memoir, Work, Strife, Balance. Paramount Plus has set a new Australian project: Asher Keddie and David Wenham will lead FAKE series, a startling new story of love in a world of liars, cheats, fantasists and phonies, inspired by the book by Stephanie Wood. The eight episode series follows Birdie Bell (Keddie), a beautiful, smart and brilliant magazine features writer who thinks she has found “the one” when she meets successful grazier Joe Burt (Wenham) on a dating app. Convinced by her well-meaning friends and family that this couldbe her very own happily ever after, Birdie begins to believe that it is finally her chance to live the fairy-tale. As cracks start to form in Joe's stories, Birdie soon discovers her boyfriend isn't all he has led her to believe. Asher, who is also producing, has had a recent break out in her career after starring in Stateless and Nine Perfect Strangers.
