BROOKE SHIELDS DRAMA GETS A TEASER

The series starts this May

Over at Acorn TV they have released a teaser for their six part crime drama YOU ARE KILLING ME with Brooke Shields in the lead. Set in a quaint New England colonial town, formerly knows as Ally and Andi, it follows bestselling novelist (Shields) who forms an unlikely alliance with Andi, an aspiring writer and podcaster (Amalia Williamson) to find the killer of a close friend. Tom Cavanagh plays Jack, the new lead detective of the Founders Cove Police Department and former city slicker who is trying to acclimate to the quirks of small-town life. The series premieres May 18th.

Even if you are not much into German series, I think insanely gorgeous Moritz Otto is more than enough of a reason to check out six episode series THE CRUISE DOCTOR (Der Schiffsarzt) which aired previously on German RTL Plus but will hit Acorn TV from today Monday April 6th available for your viewing pleasure also on their channel at Prime Video and I think you can stream it on Apple TV too. The story follows Dr. Eric Leonhard (Moritz Otto), a surgeon and ER doctor who signs on as the physician on a cruise ship. The crew don’t suspect that the real reason he’s joined them is to conduct his own investigation into the disappearance of his pregnant wife, Sarah, who vanished without a trace several months ago. With the police investigation having yielded no results, and Eric convinced that Sarah and his child, who must’ve been born by now, are still alive, he is determined to find them. Seeing a photograph of Sarah at the bar of a cruise ship is what prompts him to sign on as the ship’s doctor. Once on board, though, Eric trusts no one, as any crew member could potentially be involved in the disappearance.

FIRST LOOK AT HALF MAN SERIES

Straight from BBC and HBO we have the first look at buffed Richard Gadd in their new series HALF MAN in which he stars next to Jamie Bell as brothers Ruben and Niall, who reunite after years of estrangement, leading to an explosion of violence that catapults us back through their lives over the course of the series. Mitchell Robertson and Stuart Campbell will play them in their younger years in the six episode series that spans four decades from the 1980s to present day! Story explores highs and lows of Ruben and Niall’s relationship, from meeting them as troubled teenagers to witnessing their falling out as adults with all the good, bad, terrible, funny, angry and challenging moments along the way!

 

 RUPERT EVERETT JOINS RIVALS SEASON 2

Disney Plus is about to start filming the 12 episode second season of their hit series RIVALS and have added Rupert Everett and Hayley Atwell to the cast of the show set in the glamorous world of 1980s British television against the backdrop of the Cotswolds countryside, with the second season dealing with heightened power struggles and deeper rivalries as careers, marriages and reputations hang in the balance. Aidan Turner, David Tennant and Alex Hassell return to the lead roles. Atwell will portray Helen Gordon, the ex-wife of Rupert Campbell-Black and mother to his children Marcus and Tabitha. Everett will be Malise Gordon, her husband and Campbell-Black’s former show-jumping coach and mentor.

Together, they solve murders connected to the world of art and antiques, from Old Master paintings, to Banksy street art, medieval manuscripts and collectible vinyl. Throughout the season, the artfully astute detectives encounter a fake Vermeer, Viking gold, a rare Chinese vase and items rescued from the Titanic. In a rich and colourful world driven by greed, obsession, lust and revenge, Mick navigates these demanding cases while managing a budding romance with museum curator Rosa (Sarah Alexander) and the sudden reappearance of his charismatic father, Ron (Larry Lamb), who just happens to be one of Britain’s most notorious forgers.

I have a cosy little treat for you this Monday: a trailer and posters for RECIPES FOR LOVE AND MURDER mystery series that starts tonight, September 5th over at Acorn for viewers in UK. Our queen from Tudors, Maria Doyle Kennedy, leads the adaptation of Sally Andrew’s best-selling novels which mix food with crime!

 

  WHAT'S THE STORY
 Working at the local newspaper, Tannie Maria’s recipe writing hits a roadblock when her editor informs her that the column is being cut from the publication. Instead, the paper is making room

First season consists of ten episodes

for an advice column and so Tannie Maria, who is living her life on a South African farm where she completes chores alongside her pet chicken Morag, applies for the gig, offering advice and recipes to readers. Things take an unexpected turn though when a woman she was corresponding with about her abusive husband is found dead. While she teams up with her colleague Jessie September (Kylie Fisher) to try and uncover the mystery, she’s continuing to test new recipes, offer advice, and help foster romance around the community through her contributions. Despite the crime element, don’t expect anything supremely dark tone-wise because this series is as full of bright moments as it is full of mystery. The ten episode series was shot down in South Africa!
