THE OTHER BENNET SISTER
FIRST IMAGES FROM BBC AND BRITBOX SERIES
BBC and BritBox have released first images for their THE OTHER BENNET SISTER which tells the story of Mary Bennet, played by Ella
Bruccoleri, the seemingly unremarkable and overlooked middle sister in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Richard E. Grant and Ruth Jones
play her parents, with Indira Varma and Richard Coyle set as Mr and Mrs Gardiner, Mary’s worldly aunt and uncle. The Gardiners take Mary under
their
wing as governess to their three children, Marianne (Roisin Bhalla), George (Reggie Absolom), and Rebecca (Jasmine Sharp), introducing her to a
new social world that includes Mr Hayward (Donal Finn), Mr Ryder (Laurie Davidson), and Ann Baxter (Varada Sethu). It will have ten half hour episodes.

This could be interesting. I read a novella that was written from the POV of the youngest Bennett sister (older and reformed after the death of Wickham), and her take on her father's treatment of her mother was dead on, though I'd never considered that before.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many spin off books about it these days.
DeleteMe gustaría verla. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteGracias.
DeleteThe poor middle sister syndrome. We always get overlooked. It’s a blessing and a curse.
ReplyDeleteOnly the firstborns are truly happy.
DeleteI've heard the opposite. It's the firstborn that has to take care of the younger siblings and pick up the slack where the parents fail. It's usually the last one that gets all of the attention and spoiled.
DeleteNot in my case, exactly the opposite, the older ones get more attention because they are the first ones and parents are happy to see them, after that they already went through it and just don't give an eff about the younger ones.
DeleteAin't we have enough Jane Austen shows already???
ReplyDeleteOh, long time ago, but who asks us?
DeleteAwesome! Thanks for the post!
ReplyDeleteBe welcome.
