The film will be available later this month
Belle Winters (Jenn Gotzon, who does not even remotely look like a model), a tired NYC based model who’s worried about aging out of the industry. One evening in her apartment, Belle remembers a charm bracelet with Biblical beauty affirmations that her grandmother gave her when she was a child. Belle no longer has the bracelet but thinks it might be at Santaland, a Christmas farm where she played in her youth. Desperate to find the bracelet, Belle sets out to find it, and finds herself in the process. Jim E. Chandler plays the hunky male lead and he and Gotzon are married in real life as well.

  1. Santa Land is in Georgia? Now I have to find out if that place is real and go visit. ;)

  2. Many folks sure love to rewrite history and with so many creative liberties Hollywood likes to take, surely Noticias del Imperio will be one for the books. When I saw the cover art for The Farmer and the Belle Saving Santaland I thought I'd pass on this one but who knows?! Some of these light holiday themed comedies have been surprisingly better than anticipated.

    1. Hollywood likes to rewrite present as well, like they are saying you should trust them not your eyes.

  3. Noo, Hollywood doing Noticias del Imperio? I shiver, they got it right only in 1939 with "Juarez" But then it's TV. Which network? That would define its historicity. Mexico had a telenovela on Mama Carlota called Maximiliano y Carlota but it was 60s. They wanted to remake it in the late 90s but it never came to be. I guess because Mexicans have mixed feelings about the Emperor and his times.

  4. Something Dez hasn't heard of that has to do with history? That alone peaks my interest. :)

I watched that trailer twice. I'm all in on the Christmas flick and will probably end up watching it several times.

    1. I've never been interested in the history of Americas, I probably did know somewhere deep in my mind that Mexico was an empire but I really did not know those royal whores Habsburgs were there too, freaking pests...

    2. Mexico has had three empires. The Aztec, the Iturbide in the early XIX century (both were autochthonous kingdoms) and one ruled by a foreigner, Maximilian. Around the time of the American Civil War, Mexico was caught in its own civil war. Seeing the country sink into lawlessness, a small division of Iturbide’s fans and his descendants went to France where they caught the ear of Empress Eugenie. She convinced her husband Napoleon the III that it would be fun having a little European empire in Latin America. Since they had no French prince to rule Mexico, they turned to Austria that seemed to have so many idle archdukes to spare. Franz Joseph set his own brother Maximilian. Max and his Belgian princess of a wife, Charlotte, sailed to America. A segment of the population did like them enough to support them, but most Mexicans supported Benito Juarez. Extraordinarily, Maximilian and Charlotte (she got an endearing nickname from her subjects “Mama Carlota”) were more liberal and progressive than most Mexican politicians, but Mexicans don’t mind being ruled by bad hombres as long as they are Mexican born.
At the end of the American Civil War, gringos realized what was going on South of the Border, they remembered the Monroe Doctrine and lend their support to Juárez. That was the end of a four-year empire. Maximilian was caught and executed. Charlotte went mad. End of story.

    3. Fun story indeed, they sure know how to spot the opportunity to rule! I do ever so like it when they go mad in the end LOL or get executed. We executed a fair share of ours LOL We even threw one of our queens and her king over the balcony, not that she did not deserve it.

    4. yes, poor Queen Draga. They wouldn't even let her get dressed and lost a shoe in her fall. It happens when royals marry unsuitable opprtunistic sluts.. Mmm someyhing for Megan to think about.

    5. She was actually the original Megan LOL We actually have a series about the hoe and her royal hubs, but you will not find it with subs. Come to think of it, I cannot right now recall if we had any kings that weren't assassinated or thrown down in a coup. And that goes to very deep history. One of my friends wrote a saga about our oldest dynasty The Chaslavichs who ruled our regions back in the 8th, 9th and 10th century before the famous Nemanyich dynasty came, she is the first one to write a series of novels about them, and they were also very prone to coups. But unlike todays Western powers, back then the Balkans was ruled by Bulgarian khans and Byzantium so our rulers fought for their support. Until our most famous emperor Dushan came and conquered them all bastards, from Bulgarians to Greeks.

    6. It's why European history teachers dismiss The Balkans with "it's a turbulent area."But King Petar died in his bed. Something I learned with Shadows over the Balkans was that his true heir went mad leaving Alexander to be king.

    7. That is the official story, but the real story is that prince George, who was the heir for a long time as the firstborn, was gay and had many gay affairs around the city (there is a legend of his passionate affair with our Academic and mathematician Mika Alas (who was rather hot) and Peter apparently did not like that, but the truth is that in a fit of passion he apparently killed one of the servants in the palace (kicking him in the nuts) and when the servant died they decided to push George into the background to avoid the scandal and gave the throne to Aleksandar. Later on George spent decades in an asylum down in Nish, and Hitler even wanted to make him a king of an envisioned Nazi Serbian kingdom which never happened since we gave the Nazis a very hard time down here and never accepted the Nazi rule. George died sometime in the 60s methinks in that asylum. In the series they usuaully depict him as very impulsive and passionate, irresponsible, but also brave as he fought in the WW1.

    8. i didn't know about the gay angle. Thanks for the info. The Nazis wanted to set a puppet kingdom in Serbia and the Italians actually crowned one of the Duke of Aosta' brother as "king of Croatia."

    9. It was easier for them over there as Croats have always been fascist oriented in history, they even proclaimed many of the Nazi cardinals saints and celebrate them regularly.

  5. Maybe because she’s a tired old model that’s why she doesn’t look like a model to you (or me) LOL. But it does sound like a sappy hallmark type movie I’ll end up watching.
