Hannah Waddingham has joined the cast

Even though rival BBC has announced earlier this afternoon that Canal+' Marie Antoinette new period set television series (that I already
announced to you earlier this summer) will air on their BBC 2 channel next year for the audience in United Kingdom, it is still
ITV day here today, beginning with news from their new period set adaptation of
TOM JONES classic novel by
Henry Fielding. Beside
Solly McLeod as the hero Tom,
Sophie Wilde as the heroine Sophia Western and Pearl Mackie as Sophia’s trusted maid, Honour, they've now announced fresh Emmy winner
Hannah Waddingham in the role of the seductive and vengeful Lady Bellaston! The series that will air on
Masterpiece in USA, will also star
James Fleet, Alun Armstrong, Shirley Henderson, Tamzin Merchant,
Julian Rhind Tutt, Susannah Fielding,
Daniel Rigby, James Wilbraham, Felicity Montagu, Janine Duvitski, Dean Lennox Kelly and Lucy Fallon. The raunchy novel follows often very scandalous and bawdy sexual exploits and merry adventures of the young and

good hearted 18th century foundling Tom Jones in a story full of twists and surprises. The shooting will start this Autumn around Belfast.

ITV has published a trailer for their remake of Darling Buds of May classic series THE LARKINS which will start Sunday October 10th with six episodes and plus a festive one for Christmas. Set in the late 1950’s, it follows the golden hearted wheeler dealer Pop Larkin (Bradley Walsh) and his wife Ma (Joanna Scanlan), together with their six children, including the beautiful Mariette (Sabrina Bartlett), as they bask in their idyllic and beautiful patch of paradise in Kent. Fiercely loyal to each other and their community, there’s an overwhelming sense of plenty in their lives and a lot of joy and raucous laughter. With an

Interesting. I saw the original movie of Tom Jones with Albert Finney, but I imagine the show will be much racier.
ReplyDeleteGiven it is ITV, it probably won't be much :) but it will be woke, you can bet on that. With the casting so far I think it will be another flop and another nail on the period set genre coffin.
DeleteWe just watched Ted Lasso and Hannah Waddingham was a fun figure there...she is sexy.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed that she dresses very nicely at the red carpet events, I liked her Emmy outfit.
DeleteNot sure either one of those would be for me.
ReplyDeleteBetter luck next time LOL
DeleteLike Mary, I think I'll skip both of these.
ReplyDeleteI was very excited about Larkins, as I dearly loved Darling Buds of May, but this casting totally put me off. I will still give it a go, however! Tom Jones is the very same story for me, a highly unattractive cast and the wokeism in it will just about kill costume drama on ITV for good, methinks.
DeleteI'm in on The Larkins! It looks like the type of show that I've been looking for.
ReplyDeleteIt will probably air on PBS for you sometime next year.
