Must admit I almost forgot about this one, but it starts airing on Fox Sunday January 21st and then continues its life on Monday evenings. As you know, the spy does not usually do medical drama, but this one THE RESIDENT, does have our favourite boys, always lovely Manish Dayal, and always charismatic Matt Czuchry, in a powerful new medical drama focusing on the final years of a young doctor’s training that rips back the curtain to reveal the truth of what really happens, both good and bad, in hospitals across America.
THE STORY OF THE RESIDENT
revolves around an idealistic young doctor

NBC is to release the first trailer for the comeback of their WILL & GRACE sitcom, which will return to Thursday nights with This Is Us this Autumn with 12 and possibly even more new episodes. Debra Messing, Megan Mullally, Eric McCormack and Sean Hayes, are all returning in their original roles. I will replace the US only trailer below as soon as the non geoblocked one appears.
CBS ORDERS '9JKL' SITCOM CBS has ordered new multicamera sitcom 9JKL. Starring
Mark Feuerstein it is inspired by the time he lived in apartment 9K in
the building he grew up in, right between his doting parents’ apartment
9J, and his brother, sister-in-law and their baby’s apartment 9L, and
his attempts to set boundaries with his intrusive but well-meaning
family. Linda Lavin, Elliott Gould, David Walton play his parents and
his brother.
FOX ORDERS 'ORVILLE' SETH MACFARLANE SF COMEDY
Fox has ordered 13 episodes of Seth MacFarlane's sf comedy THE ORVILLE in which the story is set 300 years in the future. It follows the adventures of the Orville, a not-so-top-of-the-line exploratory ship in Earth’s interstellar Fleet. Facing cosmic challenges from without and within, this motley crew of space explorers will boldly go where no comedic drama has gone before. MacFarlane stars, writers, creates and executive produces the series which will air on Thursdays this Autumn.
FOX ORDERS 'THE RESIDENT'
STARRING MANISH DAYAL AND MATT CZUCHRY
Fox has also ordered Manish Dayal's medical series THE RESIDENT which follows a tough, brilliant senior resident who guides an idealistic young doctor through his first day, pulling back the curtain on what really happens, both good and bad, in modern-day medicine. Matt Czuchry, Emily VanCamp and Bruce Greenwood also star.
LATEST SITCOM CANCELLATIONS! ABC has put Carol Burnett's sitcom HOUSEHOLD NAME to a 'rework' stage
but it did order the return of ROSEANNE after cancelling their six year
long, 2nd best watched, sitcom LAST MANSTANDING! CBS has ordered BY
THE BOOK (aka Living Biblically) multi camera sitcom while cancelling 2
BROKE GIRLS after 6 years and THE ODD COUPLE! CBS has also passed on DISTEFANO and
BROTHERED UP sitcom pilots. FreeForm has cancelled their own 6 year
long sitcom BABY DADDY last weekend to the shock of fans since it was
their best watched comedy ever and will end on its 100th episode.
I've announced tons of TV comedy news yesterday, but here's another one, this time from a multi camera sitcom front: Galavant's Timothy Omundson has just scored the lead role in Carol Burnett's new sitcom HOUSE HOLD NAME which got a pilot order over at ABC.
It follows a family who gets the deal of a lifetime on a house, but
it comes with an unusual caveat: the original owner of the home, ageing
former movie star Vivian Valmont (Carol Burnett), has to live in it with
them until she dies. Timothy Omundson will play Edward Von Glimpse,
Vivian’s longtime, gay best friend. Edward’s her confidant, hype man,
and apologist, sometimes all within the span of a single sentence. He’s
droll with a dry wit and seen it all attitude, a throwback to a more
civilized, elegant time.
MATTHEW JAMES THOMAS
JOINS PAUL HAGGIS' NEW EXTREME EVENT MEDICAL SHOW
I'm sure you all loved Paul Haggis Oscar winning master piece Crash and now the amazing director is preparing a catastrophe medical TV series for NBC which is still without a title but it has Matthew James Thomas and Paola Lazaro in the cast. Set as a real time “extreme event” medical series it will follow the nurses and doctors of an understaffed Brooklyn hospital that becomes the borough’s last viable trauma centre after a catastrophic hurricane wreaks havoc on the city. Thomas will play a young doctor and Lazaro will play a triage nurse!
MATT CZUCHRY JOINS
MANISH DAYAL IN 'THE RESIDENT'
Speaking of medical series, two days ago I announced Manish Dayal as the lead in Fox THE RESIDENT medical pilot and now another sinfully gorgeous hunk is joining as he co-lead - Gilmore Girls' Matt Czuchry! It centres on Devon Pravesh (Dayal), an idealistic young doctor who begins his first day under the supervision of a tough, brilliant and cocky senior resident, Conrad Hawkins (Czuchry) who pulls the curtain back on all of the good and evil in modern day medicine. Lives may be saved or lost, but expectations will always be shattered. Brian Greenwood plays Chief of Surgery Dr. Soloman Bell.
JESSIE BUCKLEY, BEN HARDY TO LEAD BBC VICTORIAN SERIES
Here's a new BBC project for us: they've announced today the beginning of production on their small screen adaptation of Wilkie Collins Victorian thriller THE WOMAN IN WHITE and they've also announced Ben Hardy (X-Men) will star as Walter Hartright and our beloved Jessie Buckley (War And Peace, Taboo) as Marian Halcombe, with Dougray Scott, Charles Dance and Art Malik also in the cast!
The five episode mini series starts in early Victorian London after Walter Hartright encounters
a ghostly woman dressed in all white on a moonlit road, and then soon
finds himself drawn into a mysterious and disturbing world. Romance,
suspense, and danger combine as secrets come to the fore in the haunting
tale of insanity and identity. Viewed by many as the first
psychological thriller novel, THE WOMAN IN WHITE will take viewers on a
chilling ride down the shadowy paths and corridors of English country
houses and ultimately into the depths of the Victorian madhouse.
MANISH DAYAL TO LEAD
'THE RESIDENT' MEDICAL SERIES
Meanwhile, another of our absolute fave's, always lovely Manish Dayal (100 Foot Journey) will lead new medical drama THE RESIDENT at Fox! He will be Devon Pravesh, an idealistic young doctor who begins his first day under the supervision of a tough, brilliant senior resident, Conrad Hawkins who pulls the curtain back on all of the good and evil in modern day medicine. Lives may be saved or lost, but expectations will always be shattered.
Devon is a first year resident at Kings County Hospital. Top of his class at medical school, the type to follow rules, driven and passionate when it comes to medicine, Devon is a hard working perfectionist from a working class background. In Phillip Noyce directed and Antoine Fuqua produced series, Bruce Greenwood will play Chief of Surgery Dr. Soloman Bell, every inch the image of an ideal surgeon.
Two British movies for you today, beginning with the new poster for VICEROY'S HOUSE which is out in cinemas this March with Hugh Bonneville as Lord Mountbatten and Gillian Anderson as Lady Mountbatten, with our most beloved Manish Dayal (100 Foot Journey) rounding up the cast!
Story is set in Viceroy’s
House in Delhi, the home of British invaders and exploiters of India.
After 300 years, that dark rule is coming to an end and for six
months in 1947 Lord Mountbatten, great grandson of Queen Victoria,
assumed the post of the last Viceroy, charged with handing India back to
its people. The story unfolds within this great house where the
Mountbattens lived upstairs and downstairs lived their 500 Hindu, Muslim
and Sikh servants. As the political elite converged on the house to
wrangle over the birth of independent India, conflict erupted.
'THEIR FINEST' 1ST TRAILER
SAM CLAFLIN & GEMMA ARTERTON
A few weeks ago I showed you a clip from this April WW2 British movie THEIR FINEST, and today you can enjoy the first official trailer! Absolutely enchanting Sam Claflin and lovely Gemma Artertonlead the cast which also includes Bill Nighy, Jack Huston, Jeremy Irons, Richard E. Grant, in a story about a British film crew that attempts to boost morale during World War II by making a propaganda film after the Blitzkrieg.
We've been waiting for this one a very long time indeed: gorgeous first trailer and poster have been released for period set drama VICEROY'S HOUSE out in UK this March (marking the 70 years since India has gained its independence from bloody and ruthless British enslavement) with Hugh Bonneville as Lord Mountbatten and Gillian Anderson as Lady Mountbatten (with the most horridly fake British accent) and Lily Travers, Michael Gambon, Simon Callow and our most beloved Manish Dayal (100 Foot Journey) rounding up the cast!
THE END OF THE DARK RULE Story is set in Viceroy’s House in Delhi, the home of British invaders and exploiters of India. After 300 years, that dark rule is coming to an end and for six

To end up our weekend (which created quite a buzz around the net, thank you very much) of photo reports from the sets of new period set movies, two more this Monday, starting with the pictures coming from the production of Haifaa Al Mansour's A STORM IN THE STARS historical drama starring teen stars Douglas Booth and Elle Fanning.
THE GREAT ROMANTIC POETS The story of the period set drama movie brings the details of the
love affair between 18-year-old Mary Godwin and legendary Romantic poet
Percy Shelley, which resulted in Mary Shelley writing her famous horror
novel Frankenstein. Elle Fanning plays Mary Shelley, Douglas
Booth is poetical genius Percy Bysshe Shelley, while Bel Powley appears
as Mary’s sister Claire Clairmon! Tom Sturridge portrays another great
poet Lord Byron with BenHardy playing English writer John William

Not much to report to you today, so we're going to exotic locations, starting with a trip to India with a new historical movie VICEROY'S HOUSE which should come to the cinemas in the United Kingdom sometime later this year! It will see Huge Bonneville and GillianAnderson playing an unlikely couple: Lord Mountbatten, the last viceroy of India and his wife. Michael Gambon and lovely Manish Dayal whom we fell in love with in A 100 FOOT JOURNEY also star!

'IGNACIO DE LOYOLA'
ANDREAS MUNOZ EPIC MOVIE
Meanwhile, in the clip department we're going international as I'm about to show you the first trailer for new historical epic movie IGNACIO DE LOYOLA which should arrive into cinemas probably this summer sometime in July! Andreas Munoz is playing St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus.
FROM KNIGHT TO SAINT The movie is told by a young priest who was once assigned to defend
him before the Spanish Inquisition following Ignacio's transformation
from a brash, impulsive youth obsessed with women and sword-fighting; to
the masterful, charismatic leader of an order that would change the
face of Christendom. In his lifelong quest to become the heroic Knight
of his fantasies, Ignacio stares death in the face again and again,
finding himself imprisoned for murder; having his leg shattered by a
cannonball in battle; driven to near suicide by his inner demons; and
finally finding his life in the hands of the Inquisition.
