TRAILER FOR NEW PERIOD SET SERIES

Beside the Amadeus series from Sky with a rather strange choice of an Asian guy in the lead role, there is, as you know if you have been following us, another new series on the famous composer arriving next month: Beta Film's MOZART MOZART   a fresh and bold reimagining of the Mozart legacy. Replacing imperial series Sisi, which ended last year after four successful seasons, as the festive treat during the holidays, the series will start on German national broadcaster ARD1 December 12th and during Christmas on Austrian broadcaster ORF.

 

 REMIXING HISTORY

 the witty yet moving six hour series puts the spotlight on the talented Maria Anna Mozart (Havana Joy), the sister of the legendary Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Eren M. Guvercin). When her younger brother begins to spiral outof control, Maria Anna steps into his shoes to save the family’s legacy. When he is fired from a position in Salzburg, she sees a chance to escape the prospect of an arranged marriage by helping him secure a position at the court of Emperor Joseph II in Vienna. But Amadeus’ erratic behavior  jeopardizes their plan. So, she slips into the role of her brother, performing for the Emperor disguised as Amadeus – captivating the entire court and  drawing the envy of Mozart’s greatest rival, Antonio Salieri. But her bold stunt quickly gets out of control. When Maria Anna convinces the Emperor to commission the first German-language opera, she must protect her charade, juggle her brother’s unpredictability, and keep her secret from the love of her   life – who happens to be none other than Antonio Salieri. Bursting with opulence, modern beats, and unforgettable images, this tale of ambition and deception is a touching story of a complex sibling bond full of love, rivalry, and rebellion. Beta Film has released first images from their new project MOZART MOZART, a fresh and bold reimagining of the Mozart legacy. Bursting with opulence, modern beats, and unforgettable images, this tale of ambition and deception is a touching story of a complex sibling bond full of love, rivalry, and rebellion. From the showrunner of the international hit Sisi, this contemporary period series for German and Austrian broadcasters ARD and ORF is driven by a unique musical score that fuses Mozart’s iconic compositions with a contemporary edge. Bavaria Media and Beta Film are handling international sales. This is not the only series we can expect on the famous composer, as I have previously announced Sky's Amadeus in which Will Sharpe and Paul Bettany are taking the lead roles.

TO LEAD NEW HISTORICAL FILM ROSE

As Variety reports, Austrian-German production company Schubert has set German star Sandra Huller as the lead in their new historical movie ROSE which has been shot already and is currently in post production for a release later this year. Coming from director Markus Scheinzer, it will follow a 17th-century woman who, disguised as a man, begins a new life in a protestant village at the end of the Thirty Years’ War.

COMING THIS EASTER TO ARD AND ORF

German national broadcaster ARD and the Austrian one ORF have teamed up on new Franz Kafka mini TV series titled simply KAFKA. The new six parter will start airing March 25th in the year that marks a hundred years since his death. Based on the three part Kafka biography by Reiner Stach, the series follows Kafka’s (Joel Basman) difficult relationship with his father (Nicholas Ofczarek) and his love affairs with Felice Bauer, Milena Jesenská (Liv Lisa Fries) and Dora Diamant, but also his close friendship with Max Brod (David Kross).

 

IN THE NEW MINI TV SERIES 

Kafka's vacation spot, already ravaged by tuberculosis, is transformed in his imagination into the dark and mythical village of his last and most famous novel, “The Castle”. But he also meets his last great love, Dora Diamant (Tamara Romera Ginés). The two lived in Berlin for a few months and spent Kafka's last days together in the Kierling sanatorium outside Vienna. Franz (Joel Basman) grew up as one of many children in a Jewish middle-class merchant family in Prague. He became enthusiastic about writing from an early age and wrote several texts. One of his best friends, Max Brod (David Kross), is his greatest admirer and encourages him to keep publishing his texts. He himself is a respected writer and full of energy and drive. He believes in Kafka's talent and drives him tirelessly. He is known for his many affairs and his warm-heartedness, which could hardly distinguish him from his shy friend.

hostess of an important literary salon in Vienna, frequented by the likes of Auguste Rodin, Gustav Klimt, director Max Reinhardt, writer Stefan Zweig, composer Gustav Mahler who met his wife Alma there! The faces that frequented her salon range from Freud to Georges Clemenceau. By creating an environment where revolutionary ideas and discussions flourished, Berta found herself at the very center of cultural and intellectual evolution during a “transformative” era in European history. Spanning decades and both World wars, the show will also feature colorful supporting characters like Aleš Polák, a sugar factory worker who becomes her confidant, or his sister Josefa, going from a café cashier to a fake nurse and finally to a healer on the battlefield.

SEASON TWO TRAILER IS HERE!

About a week ago I gave you the first photos for the second season of Germany's ultra successful historical saga SISI which is returning to the small screens at the end of the year - it will be available on RTL+ streamer from

December 16th and will then launch on mother channel RTL on December 27th and 28th as the part of Christmas progra- mming - and today I have the trailer for the second season and it is all kinds of stunning confirming that it really is visually the glitziest show we have seen in years from the set and costumes to the mesmerising cinematography. The series which also aired on ORF in Austria, Canal Plus, Epic Drama Channels, many national broadcasters around the world and on Disney in USA, will be taking us back to the imperial court in Vienna with Dominique Devenport as Empress Elisabeth and Jannik Schumann as emperor Franz Joseph.

  THE BIRTH OF THE SON

of Sisi and Franz should perfect the marital bliss, but instead the young heir to the throne is a cause for serious power struggles in Europe. This also begins a phase of private challenges for Sisi and Franz. Otto von Bismarck threatens war, Sisi uses her diplomatic instincts, but she cannot find happiness in their relationship. She feels like a bird in a golden cage. Then she has to travel to Hungary for political reasons and there she encounters Count Gyula Andrássy (Giovanni Funiati), who fascinates herimmensely. Standing between the rebel leader and her husband Franz, she has to make a difficult decision.

THE SECOND SEASON CAST

will also include Murathan Muslu as the Hungarian rebel leader Ödön Körtek, Romy Schroeder as Marie, the daughter of Sisi's maid Fanny, who was hanged for treason in Season one, Amanda Da Gloria as Countess Emanuelle Andrássy, Count Andrássy's sister, and Bernd Hölscher as Otto von Bismarck, Chancellor from 1871! Boris Aljinovic stars as French emperor Napoleon III. Sisi will also have a lavish coronation in Hungary and Franz will now maybe sport a longer hairdo to the delight of ladies. Rival series The Empress, which arrived to Netflix this Autumn, broke into most of top ten charts around the world and will be also getting a second season. We are international today starting with the full, rather bizarre, trailer for CORSAGE historical drama about Austrian empress Sisi which is currently playing in German and Austrian cinemas and will hit Spain and France in winter. Vicky Krieps leads the cast as Empress Elisabeth of Austria in this bold, revisionist Cannes prize winner that uncinches the Sissi legend forever. Empress Elizabeth of Austria was idolized for her beauty and was renowned for inspiring fashion trends but in 1877 Christmas Empress turns 40 and is officially deemed an old woman and she is now desperately trying to maintain her public image. Florian Teichtmeister plays her husband emperor Franz Joseph.
