THE STORY OF HIS MAID
We are doing a little spying over in sweet old Matushka Rossiya today with the first images from their ambitious new period set telenovella THE STORY OF HIS MAID (История его служанки) which will premiere on Russian streamers Ivi and Start sometime this June with Matvey Lykov, Milan Bru, Ekaterina Guseva, Viktor Vasilyev, Olga Lomonosova, Ilya Noskov, Vyacheslav Chepurchenko, Mikhail Sotnikov,
Veronika Zhuravleva and others in the cast. What is interesting is that the episodes will air while the new ones are still shooting and there is supposed to
be 90 episodes in total, so like a daily telenovella. To achieve this, they have more separate crews working simultaneously on different story lines to
maintain a continuous production cycle. You can also check out a really gorgeous and lavish teaser trailer below the post.

THE STORY OF THE SERIES IS SET
in
Moscow, 19th century. Lavish balls, glittering estates, and
behind-the-scenes intrigue. A young and eligible bachelor, Count Nikolai
Sheremetyev, returns to high society from the war. His arrival shakes
up society circles: mothers and daughters plot intrigues, dreaming of
landing a
wealthy groom. But for Nikolai himself, things are more
complicated - according to his mother's will, he must marry within a year
or lose his
inheritance. Meanwhile, the Averyin family is teetering on
the brink of ruin due to the head of the family's gambling debts. Their
daughter Anna, a
stubborn and witty noblewoman, decides to meet the
count in person, hoping he will forgive the debt. Sheremetyev, a man of
principle, offers a deal instead of leniency - a year of Anna's service at
his estate.

That's fun poster. Beautiful costumes too!
ReplyDeletep.s it's 7-15C today, raining..sighs..The weather man just said that it should get better this weekend..
The whole storyline reminds me of great romantic movies of the 80s.
DeleteSend us some rain, we have not see any in two months and it is 26C already in the morning.
La storia della sua cameriera è un sussurro ribelle: una vita ai margini che finalmente pretende di essere vista.
ReplyDeleteBuona giornata
Buona giornata, Silvia
DeleteThis really sparked my curiosity. A Russian period drama set in the 19th century, with those ballroom dances and that imperial Moscow atmosphere… it’s not the kind of thing you come across every day on streaming platforms. The visuals already look incredible. Let’s see how it turns out when it arrives in June. My hug for today.
ReplyDeleteThey have the biggest production of costume dramas and historical shows in Rossiya, Angelo, we just sadly cannot see them as they are not distributed internationally. We sometimes get a rare film or series of theirs in my country because we are their historical friends, but others do not. It is interesting that Russia has a very rich movie and TV production, and tons of streamers and channels, plus their earnings in cinemas are lucrative because of the size of the country, so they earn millions. A hug to you as well, loving your latest dandy edition :)
DeleteI’ve always had a soft spot for hats 🎩😄
DeleteMe too, but I rarely wear them as I am too hot under them :)
Delete1. It's beautiful. 2. Awesome premise.
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about Russian story telling, but I imagine it's going to be engaging either way. This is something I would watch for sure.
Russians are the best storytellers in the world, their tales and stories and legends are the best in the world, far superior to all others. When it comes to their modern shows and films, they sometimes tend to be not as linear as the western ones, and less focused within episodes, but that is generally true for most of Europe.
DeleteThe poster is lovely.
ReplyDeleteShould be a very beautiful series.
DeleteDezmond, thanks for telling about Russian films. This series will be very interesting. Your blog will help your readers better understand Russia, see the beauty of Russian nature, and learn about the wonderful people who live in Russia.
ReplyDeleteI have been promoting Russian art and culture and history for two decades now, dear Irinushka, sometimes I am even the only one who writes about your films and sows in English, I feel like Putyenka should give me a medal hahahah... I learnt Russian for six years so it is easier for me to cover the Russian market, I also had the pleasure to translate some wonderful sagas that were set in Russia.
DeleteБольшое спасибо, дорогой Дезмонд!
DeleteSpasiva, Irinushka.
DeleteThat's quite a goal to push out 90 episodes while filming and airing simultaneously. It does look lovely and inviting.
ReplyDeleteThat is how they shoot the soaps as well, and your sitcoms too.
