Gunpowder Siege hits Sky History tomorrow
part high end docudrama GUNPOWDER SIEGE tomorrow, Monday, November 4th. It depicts the 1605. aftermath of the Plot by focusing on its three leaders – Robert Catesby (Chuku Modu), his cunning cousin Thomas Wintour (Luke Hobson), and their ruthless enforcer, Thomas Percy (Luke Roberts).

THE STORY
Instantly branded as the most wanted men in England, they race from London to the Midlands, desperately seeking to ignite a Catholic rebellion. Their daring plan? To overthrow King James and place his young daughter, Princess Elizabeth, on the throne. Had they succeeded, Britain might look very different today. As Gunpowder Siege sweeps across the country, we follow Catesby, Wintour, and Percy in their desperate bid to raise a revolutionary army – all while Fawkes endures brutal torture in the Tower. Narrating their journey is a shadowy female presence, deeply entwined with the plotters long before their radicalization amid the turmoil of England’s Reformation. While her male counterparts rage against the persecution of Catholic priests and worshippers, it is Anne Vaux’s (Charlotte Pyke) quiet strength and unwavering conviction that will ultimately be hailed as instrumental in the survival of English Catholicism. Check out the teaser below and tell us will you be tuning in tomorrow?

  2. I will watch it (if ever...) but because the story fascinates me, but I prefer the Kit Hartington version who, after all, is Catesby's direct descendant and had a lovely Liv Tyler as Anne Vaux. Or there is another version that told the story from King James' perspective with Robert Carlyle as James.

    1. I remember that I ditched Kit's version after the first episode, it was mindboggingly dull and also a gorefest and tortureporn. The older version was great, though.

  3. Not something we will watch either...I am ready for some holiday movies you have written about a while ago.

  4. I'd probably give this a try. I'm a sucker for hot men with British accents.

    1. The hottest combo ever. I just watched Groomsmen Second Chances last night in which the story circles around Jonathan Bennett's gay character and Alexander Lincoln plays his love interest with the hottest British accent, it was very sizzling even though Bennett has chemistry with nobody.

    2. Aside from the sizzling sexiness, what did you think of the story line? Watchable? I've started putting holiday movies on while I'm working and haven't gotten to this one yet.

    3. It is not a holiday film, all three films from the Groomsmen series are summer movies from Hallmark Plus, not the regular Hallmark. The storyline could have been better, but it was easy on the brain as usual. I downloaded the one about a chocolatier in Austria from Hallmark, it stars Will Kemp and will leave it for December viewing.
