Russia is really preparing a lot of historical dramas right now and we can expect a lot of new series from the genre coming to the small screens later this year. Among them is one that I mentioned a few weeks ago but today I have exclusive first images from the sets of PURE (Чистые) historical series fromfamous Russian director and producer Fedor Bondarchuk who also stars in it. This eight episode costume drama stars one of our most favourite of the Russian actors, super charismatic Rinal Mukhametov in the ensemble that also includes Mark Eidelshtein, Anton Filipenko, Evgeniy Koryakovskiy, Danil Vorobev and our old friend Nikita Kologriviy from enchanting Russian fairy tale Wish of the Fairy Fish.

THIS PERIOD SET SERIES

will take us back to Petersburg, 1903. A world of luxury and leisure for men, a world of fear and submission for women. Kseniya (Sofia Sinitsina) and Stesha (Diana Milyutina) work in an underground brothel under the control of a pretty and ruthless lady. Girls sell men their bodies, feelings, flirting and the illusion of love. It seems they have nothing but beauty. In fact, they have access to a secret power - purity of soul and desire for freedom. And with this power they can change everything. Stay tuned as I will give you the first trailer as soon as they release it later this year.

A few days ago I showed you first set images but now we have first official ones along with the airing date for LIONS OF SICILY eight episode historical drama that will arrive to Disney + October 25th based on the popular novels by Stefania Auci! This lavish costume family saga is following the story of the Florio family through many decades of the 19th century.

  THE STORY REVOLVES AROUND

 Brothers Paolo (Vinicio Marchioni) and Ignazio (Paolo Briguglia) who are two small spice merchants who have escaped from a Calabria stuck in the past and in search of social redemption. In Sicily they invent a future, turning a small, run-down shop into a flourish business activity that young Vincenzo (Michele Riondino), with his revolutionary ideas, will transform into an economic empire. However, overwhelming Vincenzo’s life and that of the entire family is the disruptive arrival of Giulia (Miriam Leone), a strong and intelligent woman who is in contrast with the rigid rules of the society of the time. A family saga filled with love, family, success, wars and revolutions, the story takes place in Sicily from 1800 until the Proclamation of the Kingdom in Italy in 1861. Also starring are Donatella Finocchiaro as Giuseppina, Eduardo Scarpetta as Ignazio Florio - Vincenzo’s son, Ester Pantano as young Giuseppina and Adele Cammarata as Giovanna D’Ondes. I hope we will be getting a trailer soon, probably with the arrival of Autumn later this year.

The story of Fyodor Konyukhov's round-the-world balloon flight is told in a Russian movie for which we just got a new trailer. He completed it in 2016 in 11 days and set a world record. LORD OF THE WIND (Повелитель ветра), out October,

Lord of the Air arrives this October

follows famous Russian traveler Konyukhov (Fedor Bondarchuk), who has conquered the earth's poles, oceans and the highest peaks, and now sets off on a new, most dangerous journey. He will have to circumnavigate the Earth in a balloon all alone. The flight is prepared by a whole team, but it is impossible to foresee all the dangers that await the traveler in extreme conditions. Konyukhov falls into a hurricane - without communication, without sleep, almost without air, he has to go only forward in order to return to those he loves. And the whole world, with bated breath, is watching the man who challenged the elements. See the stunning trailer below and tell us what you think.

DANCE FOR YOUR LIFE!

Since America is sleeping today or black Fridaying, we're seeking comfort in the warm arms of great Mother Russia with amazing trailers for two of their new sf movies. DANCE TO DEATH (Tantsy nasmert) is out next March set in the 2070s Moscow. The old energy technologies, such as oil and coal, were lost decades ago during the nuclear war. But a new technology has been developed that converts the human body directly into energy, leaving behind only a flurry of gray ashes. In a sealed bunker in the post apocalyptic ruins of Moscow, young people struggle against each other in a deadly dancing tournament. The winners will live. The losers will be consumed for energy to power the city. One of the young people in the bunker is Kostya (Ivan Zhvakin), who was captured during a police raid and forced into the tournament. There he meets and falls in love with Anya (Lukerya Ilyashenko), the daughter of a high ranking official who has willingly offered herself to the tournament for the sake of the city. Who will survive?

  'THE COMA' SF MOVIE

This one still doesn't have a trailer since it is scheduled for cinematic release in 2018, but the poster and script certainly are impressive: THE COMA starring one of our fave Russian actors Anton Pampushnyy! After a colossal and mysterious accident a young talented architect comes back to his senses in a very odd world that only resembles the reality. This world is based on the memories of the ones who live in it - people who are currently finding themselves in a deep coma. Human memory is spotty, chaotic and unstable. The same is the COMA - odd collection of memories and recollections - cities, glaciers and rivers can all be found in one room. All the laws of physics can be broken. The architect must find out the exact laws and regulations of COMA as he fights for his life, meets the love of his life and keeps on looking for the exit to the real world which he will have to get acquainted with all over again after the experience of COMA.

And I've already shown you a trailer for this one, but now we have an exciting new trailer for another Russian sf movie ATTRACTION (Prityazhenie) which will land in Russian cinemas next January starring Alexander Petrov, Oleg Menshikov and Irina Starshen baum!  After an alien ship crash lands onto a Russian city, many who have saw the inside and the occupants start to question their own existence while there are those who demand the aliens to leave Earth! Legendary Russian film maker Fedor Bondarchuk who brought us cult Russian sf saga The Inhabited Island and war movie Stalingrad is helming this one as well!
