BBC has sent us first images from their new mini TV series THE HAIRDRESSER MYSTERIES with Sally Phillips leading the six part drama out this July. Infused with an upbeat 1970s spirit, the nostalgic crime drama sees her play a hairdresser, Lily Petal who opts out of the competitive city scene to buy a small village hairdressing salon at the top of a cobbled street. Charlotte Jordan plays Clary Coombs, Lily’s bright and analytical assistant and the Watson to her Shear-lock Holmes. Ben Castle-Gibb plays PC Adam Watson, an eager young copper in the local village who falls head-over-heels for salon assistant Clary. Sunetra Sarker plays Wincey Evans, the village’s local chit-chatter with a reputation as a known gossip. Clive Rowe plays Lonnie, the flamboyant manager of the local charity shop and Guy Henry plays Race Runard, the local village’s eccentric antiques dealer with a penchant for priceless teacup and saucer sets. An array of guest stars will also appear through the series including Wendi Peters who plays Gloria Crudd, another newcomer to the village hoping to make a fresh start with her ice cream parlour but soon finds her old life catching up with her. Everyone tells their hairdresser everything and soon she becomes the hub of her new village’s secrets and revelations. Using her own brand of uncannily developed hairdressing intuitive, empathy and understanding, Lily begins to solve the mysteries of the village.

  1. Even hairdressers can be detectives now...Brits are good with such series.

    1. I just wish it was not set in the 70s, the ugliest of decades.

  2. Let's see if I manage to watch it over here. You shouldn't assume that BBC series get much attention in my country. It certainly looks promising. What amused me most was seeing the vintage wallpaper. It reminded me a lot of one we had at home when I was young. These days I'm much more of a minimalist when it comes to decoration, and I don't know how I could have liked something like that back then, although I have to admit it has a nostalgic charm.

    1. BBC is slowly dying, they just cut over 100 million euro from their production budget, which means even less series for us. Even now they can only shoot them in coproduction with bigger streamers.
The 70s were the ugliest decade LOL so offensive to the eye in every respect lol

  4. I love British murder mysteries. It's just a shame hubby has a hard time understanding the accent.

    1. OMG what? I adore British accent and I understand is so much better than the American one LOL Possibly because I speak posh British myself. Brits speak so clearly unlike Americans. I never understand half of the things they say in US films but understand everything without subs in British series.

  6. If I was any good at hair, I'd love to be a hairdresser just to hear the daily gossip. Allison works in our ER and I do get some funny tidbits here and there along with a few sad stories.

    1. She's in registration. She has to go room to room and get their insurance information and get them all checked in before anyone in medical can start treatment.

    2. Is she still in the university as well?

    3. No, she is on leave of absence right now. She's been having tummy troubles and decided to take this year off because she was missing too much school. We're still trying to get a diagnosis on what's the problem. It's been a year of back and forth with testing and medications and no answers and no relief for her. Just last week we were in the Emergency Room twice and Urgent Care once just to get her stable. We go for a HIDA scan tomorrow and if that comes back inconclusive, we will be sent to a new specialist to see what they can find. Thankfully, her job has bee very accommodating and works around all of her medical appointments. And they'll find someone to cover her shift if she's too unwell to go in that day.

    4. Oh, noes, did the fate hit her too and she inherited your family digestive system? Could she do a parasite cleansing in USA, my tummy totally changed a few months ago when I did that with black walnut, clove and wormwood. Got some peace after twenty years of hell.

    5. So, we just got her scan results back and her HIDA results show her gallbladder EF was at 91. Normal range I believe is between 30-80, so it's overactive which causes violent spasms. They tried telling her that her 91 was unremarkable and they still recommended she see a specialist in Indianapolis for gastroparesis symptoms, which they have been treating for months with no success. I was like "Absolutely not! You put in a referral for a gallbladder surgeon locally so we can get a second opinion. I'm 99% certain that's the cause of her pain and suffering." So, we have an appointment mid-July with the surgeon to go over her medical history and we'll see what he has to say on removal or not, then we'll see where we go from there.

    6. She has a stone in it or just inflammation? How come you both had that, is it something in the water or something? Or just stress? She is too young to have any health problemos. Poor Allysabeth.

    7. She did not have stones or inflammation. It is just overactive, so when it's time for it to output the bile, it violently contracts and causes severe spasms. Gallbladder issues are unfortunately hereditary, so it seems she got my side of the family's health there. We've all had ours removed, though we all had stones and she does not. Hers just wants to be extra pushy I guess.

    8. There are so many people without it, sadly. She should try herbal medicines for it.
