TV SERIES ADAPTATION ORDERED AT NETFLIX
Peter Chernin is also executive producing
Netflix has ordered a limited TV series adaptation of Edith Wharton's famous novel THE AGE OF INNOCENCE with The White Queen and White Princess creator Emma Frost penning the show. In the 1870s, New York City, Newland Archer, a gentleman lawyer and heir to one of New York City’s wealthiest families, is overjoyed by his engagement to beautiful but sheltered May Welland. However, when May’s cousin, the Countess Ellen Olenska, arrives, Newland begins to question his choice of bride, as Ellen, who is in the middle of a scandalous divorce, challenges the status quo of New York’s upper society, while May represents the traditional values of Old New York. The shooting will start this Autumn in Europe.

  1. Raffinato dramma in costume che esplora le rigide convenzioni sociali dell’aristocrazia newyorkese di fine Ottocento, mettendo in scena un amore impossibile soffocato dalle apparenze. Elegante, malinconico e visivamente impeccabile.

    1. Hope they don't ruin it with casting, because Netflix always has a terrible casting for period set dramas.

  2. Ohh I shiver in anticipation. Wharton and Scott Fitzgerald are my favorite American writers, and I loved the Scorsese version, but Netflix?

    1. Yes, after whom they have chosen for female leads in Pride and Prejudice, I really expect all the worst from Netflix, would not be surprised if they cast Cuntia Erivo, Sydney Swiney or Rachel Zeggler, some of those faces everybody hates.

    2. I know, I know. When I saw Corrin-creature to play Lizzie Bennett, I cringed I longed for the one candidate we had shunned before.

    3. It is beyond me how she is getting roles and also praise for her godawful acting.

  3. I've never read The Age of Innocence. Hopefully it's a good one that they make from it though.

  6. They'll more than likely pick some of those Godawful actors and actresses that are popular today but have zero talent.

    1. Yep, Jenna Ortega and Millie Gobby Down or what is her name. Netflix has an incredible talent to ruin shows with terrible casting.
