'PEGASUS BRIDGE'
RUPERT PENRY JONES TO LEAD WORLD WAR II ADVENTURE
Two war films for you today! First up Rupert Penry Jones, Jason Flemyng in PEGASUS BRIDGE. In the early hours of the 6th of June 1944 Allied Airborne Forces launched one of most daring assaults in history. 181 men in 6 gliders landed at night to capture two bridges vital to the success of the D-Day landings, one of these would become known as PEGASUS
BRIDGE. The men who captured and held these objectives were led by two very different young leaders. Major John Howard led the Infantry who managed to land their gliders a stone's throw from the bridge and Colonel Geoffrey Pine Coffin (Rupert Penry Jones) led the men of the 7th Parachute Battalion who occupied the surrounding ground and held off the German counter attacks.
Rupert Penry Jones will lead the cast of Pegasus Bridge |
'UNION OF SALVATION'
RUSSIAN IMPERIAL GUARD AGAINST NAPOLEON
Meanwhile, December will bring us our dear Russian star Alexander Petrov (from Gogol and T-34) in new historical drama UNION OF
SALVATION or SOYUZ SPASENIYA. The film tells about the imperial guard officers of the Russian army during the Patriotic War of 1812, who defeated Napoleon's army. They were ready to sacrifice everything for the sake of equality and freedom. Russian troops occupied Paris. Russia became the first power in the world. Now everything seems possible. Young winners, imperial guard officers, are sure that equality and freedom will come - here and now. For this they are ready to sacrifice everything - position, wealth, love, life ... and the country itself. Ivan Kolesnikov, Anton Shagin, Maksim Matveyev, Dmitriy Palamarchuk, Kirill Zaitsev, Yuriy Borisov, Aleksandr Metelkin and Sergey Koltakov also star.
The movie hits Russian cinemas this Christmas |
Both films for Jason to put on his watch list. Winter will be here before we know it, so he'll be holed up in the living room hogging the tv until spring rolls back around.
ReplyDeletesounds like he has a good winter plan! I'm a bit scared from the upcoming season, nothing good on the horizon when it comes to new projects. Vanity Fair that just started the season is shitty as shitty gets.
DeleteThat's not good to hear about Vanity Fair. I'm okay with nothing great on the horizon. It will give me a little time to catch up on my every growing list of shows and movies that I desperately need to catch up on.
Deleteyes, it is visually the ugliest series I've seen in my life. They opted for natural lighting which gives it such a ghastly dull funeral home feel.
DeleteWar movies do not excite me, I'm afraid, although there are many that I've enjoyed. Give me some scifi, Dezzie!
ReplyDeleteWe do cover sf too when we have it!
DeleteUNION OF SALVATION couls be interesting...to follow!
ReplyDeleteHope we get a trailer soon! I do have a trailer for another Russian epic set during King Peter's reign, will post it soon.
Delete"Pegasus Bridge" sounds good! So does the Russian one, but I doubt we would ever see it in the West.
ReplyDeletemaybe they sometimes air Russian flicks on Netflix. We sometimes get them in our cinemas, but not often enough. You can always find them, though, around the net.
