INTERNATIONAL MOVIES SUNDAY: EPIC DRAMA 'THE HERITAGE OF LOVE' WITH DIMA BILAN AND FRENCH ROMCOM 'UP FOR LOVE' WITH OSCAR WINNER JEAN DUJARDIN

'THE HERITAGE OF LOVE
WAR EPIC WITH DIMA BILAN
Something I know you always love, today - international movies Sunday! Starting with a beautiful movie coming from Mother Russia THE HERITAGE OF LOVE (also known as Geroy or Hero in Russia) which played in domestic cinemas this spring and is awaiting international release starring Russian pop star Dima Bilan and Svetlana Ivanova. The sprawling epic is based on a true story set against Russian Revolution.

TILL THE END OF TIME
In 2016. Andrey Kulikov (Dima Bilan) goes to Paris to visit the grave of his great grandfather, Andrey Dolmatov, who had been an officer in the White Army during the Russian Revolution. On the headstone of the grave next to his great grandfather's, he notices the face of a young woman. Later, while walking through Paris, Andrey sees a woman, Vera (Svetlana Ivanova), who looks just like the young woman he had seen on the headstone. And so begins the telling of two love stories, separated by three generations and one hundred years.

'UP FOR LOVE' WITH
 OSCAR WINNER JEAN DUJARDIN
And something positively delightful and charmingly romantic coming where else than from France! UP FOR LOVE (also known in France as Un homme a la hauteur) hits UK cinemas this August, Germany this September and is already playing around Europe starring Oscar winner Jean Dujardin.
LOVE AT FIRST HEIGHT

Diane (Virginie Efira) is a well-known lawyer, divorced for three years. She loses her mobile telephone and receives a call from the person who finds it. That person is Alexandre (Jean Dujardin), a charming man and the perfect gentleman. They make a connection over the phone and agree to meet up the following day. But when Alexandre arrives, there's a surprise in store when Diane discovers he is only 4' 6" tall. From that moment on, Diane tries to overcome the prejudices of society and her own fears to experience the best time of her life...

  5. Heritage of Love looks fantastic. The settings are so opulent and the colours vibrant. Contrast those with the darkness of the war scenes and you really get the feel of how horrid war is. Good to see they have subtitles.

We is still in firecracker hell here. Peoples in the neighbourhood are setting them off all night, till 2:00 a.m. My little dog Luna is terrified of the noise. She shakes so badly and is stressed to the point of exhaustion. One more day of this nonsense then it will be over.

    1. Hope they will distribute it worldwide, it seems like a movie that would find audience everywhere. Not sure if Dima is good in the role, he is kind of a prissy pop star :) but the rest of it certainly looks epic!

I immediately thought of the doggies... I can imagine what hell it is for them... and for the people who have little kids or babies... I know that many people here have phobias from bangs and explosions because we remember all the bombs we were bombed with over the years.... I'd personally punish everyone who uses a firecracker by sticking one into their bottoms and lighting it....

    2. Firecrackers would have to be traumatic for a lot of you guys. The horror of what happened doesn't ever quite leave I don't think.

If I were to stick a firecracker up each of these persons bum's I'd be out all night.

    3. Novak Djokovic, our tennis player, world Number One, just said recently that he and his wife still wake up in the middle of the night when there is a thunder storm thinking of bombs, even though he lives in Monte Carlo! I carry traumas only from dog barks, not from bombs.... I survived that shite quite well, methinks, I was like, oh, Lord, if a bomb is gonna fall upon me, just be precise and smash me well :)

Sounds like a plan for you and Fang, deary :) Don't forget to mask yourself

  7. Both of these sound great. Being a tall woman (and actually the shortest of my sisters and my aunt), I get the height thing. I have four sons, ranging from 6' to 6'6". :D

  8. For me Dima Bilan is the best Eurovision Winner. So powerful voice and open heart. A professional - too much work, new performances and songs, and acting in a movie!!! By the way he is engaged in charity.
