I have no doubt that this will be entertaining movie. But, as always, I'm sick and tired of animal cartoons. I'm actually much more interested in Monsters vs Aliens and Planet 51 than in Ice Age, Up, and other recent/upcoming animated films.
I know, I know, Marko, :)) but this one has so many ultra cute characters: the baby mammoth, Scrat and his new girlfriend, the crazy little antelope, action hero weasel, baby dinosaurs .... simply too cute :)
I think that the best animated film this year will be "9"
Yes, "9" has a lot of potential. And even though I don't want to see animated animals over and over again, every time I do see them - I find them funny and well conceived. :))
I'm not really fond of how Terra looks. It looks a little too much like a children's cartoon. And I don't mean the design of aliens (they are cute :)), but representation/design of humans. This visual style is not in a conjunction with a main story about interplanetary war and conquest of Earthmen.
And Terra did have a premiere a few months ago. Two full years after its completion. The strangest thing is, it was a wide USA premiere. A rare occurrence with such productions (delayed distributions). And it failed miserably on BOX office. It was one of the three worst wide premieres this year in USA (if not the single worst premiere). To say Terra didn't appeal to USA audiences would be an understatement.

ReplyDeleteAnd TERA had a premiere last month as well, it's also a non-animal cartoon:)

I've always fancied how it would be nice if the aliens called us not Earthlings or Humans but Terrans :) it's much more exotic and spacelike.
ReplyDeleteI'd have been shockingly surprised if TERA really had appealed to Americans :)
