ALEXANDER DREYMON IS KING UHTRED IN BBC'S 'THE LAST KINGDOM' EPIC SERIES! 'SUPERGIRL' TV SHOW? FRANCESCA ANNIS, SAMANTHA BOND, ED STOPPARD FOR 'HOME FIRES' BRITISH HISTORICAL TV SERIES

ALEXANDER DREYMON LEADS
'LAST KINGDOM' EPIC TV SERIES
TV news Sunday, today at Hollywood Spy, people, starting with some British updates: Alexander Dreymon has been given the lead role in BBC2 and BBC America's new historical series THE LAST KINGDOM! The American Horror Story actor will play King Uhtred in the eight hour epic series based on Bernard Cornwell's ninth century set book series. Real historical figures and events will be mixed with fictional characters during the reign of Alfred the Great, who as King of THE LAST KINGDOM fought off a Viking invasion. After Uhtred's noble Saxon parents are killed by the Vikings, the marauders kidnap him and raise him as one of their own. Forced to choose between the country of his birth and the people of his upbringing, his loyalties are continually tested.

'HOME FIRES' WW2 TV SERIES
REVEALS THESPIANS' CAST
Meanwhile, British ITV has revealed the cast for their new period set six episode drama HOME FIRES which I recently announced as JAMBUSTERS! Based on Julie Summers' bestseller JAMBUSTERS, it will follow a group of inspirational women with fantastic spirit and attitude in a rural Cheshire community. With World War II on the horizon, multiple strands of plot interweave to create a period drama full of jeopardy and intrigue, but also great humanity and modernity! Samantha Bond (DOWNTON ABBEY) and Francesca Annis (DUNE, CRANFORD) will lead the cast, which also includes Mark Bonnar (Line of Duty), Ruth Gemmell (Utopia), Claire Rushbrook (My Mad Fat Diary), Mark Bazeley (The Suspicions of Mr Whicher), Frances Grey (The Widower) and Ed Stoppard (Cilla).

IS 'SUPERGIRL' GETTING
 HER OWN TELEVISION SERIES?
In the TV news from USA, beside the info that the untitled THE WALKING DEAD spinoff series has been officially ordered by AMC to be set in the same universe as the zombie series but with different characters, another update is that after ARROW and THE FLASH, their producer Greg Berlanti is looking to move SUPERGIRL to the small screens too! The new interpretation of the SUPERGIRL and her origin will be pitched to major networks in a few weeks, according to 'Deadline'! While DC is working on this possible series, Marvel is already preparing their female superhero series JESSICA JONES at Netflix.

  2. I thought someone had decided that female superheroes wouldn't do well? Maybe on the small screen better than the big screen?

    1. it will happen in a couple of years..... probably not if they keep choosing wrong model like actresses for the roles.... as they did with Gal Gadot for Wonder Woman

  3. I haven't seen Alexander Dreymon on small or big screen yet before this post.He looks gorgeous, I'm trying to imagine a good book turned movie character role for him. Hmm.. It would be interesting to have a female hero role on the small screen for a change. Wonder Woman was a hit and so was Charlie's Angels.

  7. The Last Kingdom should be a good one. Another epic from BBC is just what I need. Ya, I'll have to wait a year, but it will be worth it.

  10. Well, if Wonder Woman can't make it as her own series, how well do they expect Super Girl to fare? My guess is, it won't do well.

    2. Ahahaha! That's hilarious! I am thinking of buying a Wonder Woman costume for Halloween this year. I was going to be Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. My niece was supposed to be getting married on Halloween and having a big costume party for the celebrations. Until she ditched her groom to be. And we are dressing up for the Disney Halloween Party when we go, but I don't feel right dressing up in a Disney costume at Disney. Don't want to try to compete with the real deal, you know? So, unless I can find something better, Wonder Woman it will probably be.

    3. Poor groom to be... what did he do wrong?
Methinks WW costume would look good on you... with the hair and your long legs... the hubs will be thrilled!

    4. Tell Angelina to thrill you too, Blue, in that way

    5. Poor groom was just an ass. I never liked him from the get go, so I was secretly thrilled when she called it off. He's just seemed like a sketchy kind of guy. Lazy and a wanna be know it all too lol.

Yep, Blue's woman should definitely get herself a costume. If she ain't into the WW scene, there's plenty of other hot lady characters for her to chose from ;)

  11. The question is: How do I get to look like supergirl?

  12. I think Supergirl would be awesome, if only done right. Green Arrow is really good, and The Flash looks pretty good. Not too sure about Gotham, however. It seems DC does better on the small screen.

  13. So.... why's her shirt too short? Does showing her belly button serve some super purpose?
