CATE BLANCHETT'S DIRECTORIAL DEBUT IN 'THE DINNER' MOVIE ADAPTATION! RICHARD COYLE JOINS JOHN MALKOVICH IN PIRATE EPIC SERIES 'CROSSBONES'! ABC TO MAKE 'ESMERALDA' MINI SERIES ON HUNBACK OF NOTRE DAME

CATE BLANCHETT DIRECTS

HERMAN KOCH'S 'THE DINNER' MOVIE ADAPTATION

Our favourite actress of all times, gorgeous Cate Blanchett is preparing her directorial debut. She will helm the movie adaptation of Herman Koch's THE DINNER: It's a summer's evening in Amsterdam, and two couples meet at a fashionable restaurant for dinner. Between mouthfuls of food and over the polite scrapings of cutlery, the conversation remains a gentle hum of polite discourse - the banality of work, the triviality of the holidays. But behind the empty words, terrible things need to be said, and with every forced smile and every new course, the knives are being sharpened. Each couple has a fifteen-year-old son. The two boys are united by their accountability for a single horrific act; an act that has triggered a police investigation and shattered the comfortable, insulated worlds of their families. As the dinner reaches its culinary climax, the conversation finally touches on their children. As civility and friendship disintegrate, each couple show just how far they are prepared to go to protect those they love.

RICHARD COYLE IN CROSSBONES

EPIC PIRATE SHOW WITH JOHN MALKOVICH
In television news today, over at NBC they've found a new cast addition for their upcoming pirate series CROSSBONES! The show lead by John Malkovich will now also have delightful British comedian Richard Coyle!  The show is set in 1715 on the Bahamian island of New Providence where the diabolical pirate Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard (John Malkovich), reigns over a rogue nation of thieves, outlaws and miscreant sailors. To gain control of this fearsome society, Tom Lowe (Richard Coyle), a highly skilled undercover assassin, is sent to the pirates’ haven to take down the brilliant and charismatic Blackbeard. But the closer Lowe gets, the more he finds that his quest is not so simple. Lowe can’t help but admire the political ideals of Blackbeard, whose thirst for knowledge knows no bounds. Claire Foy plays Kate, the beautiful Governor’s daughter, now a pirate who works for Blackbeard and is a love interest for Lowe.

'ESMERALDA' MINI  SERIES

BASED ON HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME

Meanwhile, over at ABC they are sticking to their fairy tale genre by developing another similar project: according to 'Deadline' they will turn Victor Hugo's classic tale THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME into a television mini series! Titled ESMERALDA, the event series will be written by SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN scribe Evan Daugherty. It will be a period drama that re-imagines 'The Hunchback Of Notre Dame' through the eyes of beautiful Gypsy Esmeralda. We've seen the story done in a form of animated film by Disney almost twenty years ago, and there were also rumours about a feature film on it earlier this year.

MATT BOMER TAKES THE LEAD

IN MONT- GOMERY CLIFT BIOPIC

And after recent Princess Diana and Grace Kelly biopics, another one to expect in the future is a movie on famous actor MONTGOMERY CLIFT!  And they have already chosen Matt Bomer to take on the role of the legendary actor! As 'Deadline' writes Clift rivalled Marlon Brando as Hollywood’s biggest male star. A method actor who refused to put his private life on display, he graduated from stage roles to screen success in films that includes "A Place In The Sun" and "From Here To Eternity". His matinee idol good looks were destroyed by a devastating car accident that left him with a broken nose and facial scars. Though he continued to make movies, the accident haunted him until his death, even though he received an Oscar nomination for one of his last performances in "Judgment At Nuremberg".

'KING TUT' EPIC MINI  SERIES

GORGEOUS CAST PICTURES FOR 'ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND' FANTASY SHOW! RICKY GERVAIS IS DELIGHTFUL IN 'DEREK' SITCOM! DEREK JACOBI & ANNE REID TAKE 'LAST TANGO IN HALIFAX' SERIES

BRILLIANT NEW CAST PICTURES

ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND FANTASY SHOW

Since we haven't had much news from Hollywood this week, we're focusing today on some delightful new television projects, starting with the beautiful cast pictures of ABC's new fantasy series ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND the spin-off show to their popular drama ONCE UPON A TIME. The story of the brand new show is set in Victorian England, where young and beautiful Alice (Sophie Lowe) tells an impossible tale of a strange new land that exists on the other side of a rabbit hole. An invisible cat, a hookah-smoking caterpillar and playing cards that can talk, are just some of the fantastic things she’s seen during her adventure. Surely this troubled girl must be  insane. Her doctors intend to cure her with a treatment that will make her forget — everything. Alice seems ready to put it all behind her, especially the painful memory of the genie she fell in love with and lost forever, the handsome and mysterious Cyrus (Peter Gadiot). But in her heart Alice knows this world is real, and just in the nick of time the sardonic Knave of Hearts (Michael Socha) and the irrepressible White Rabbit (John Lithgow) arrive to save her from her fate. Together the trio will take a tumble down the rabbit hole to a Wonderland where nothing is impossible.

Ready to hit small screens on October 10th, ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND will also have Emma Rigby as the Red Queen, Naveen Andrews as Jafar, while Keith David will lend his voice to Chesire Cat with Iggy Pop giving his voice to the hookah smoking caterpillar perched on a giant shroom and with John Lithgow as the White Rabbit!'

DELIGHTFUL 'DEREK' SITCOM

 WITH RICKY GERVAIS

Another delightful project which you can already watch over at Netflix is DEREK, which begun streaming last week starring famous British comedian Ricky Gervais who is also the creator of this comedy-drama about a loyal nursing home caretaker who sees only the good in his quirky co-workers as they struggle against prejudice and shrinking budgets to care for their elderly residents! Capturing both sadness and humour of such a place, the sitcom is filled with kind and light humour and is rather unusual in today's world of offensive sitcoms and brutal comedy.

'LAST TANGO IN HALIFAX'

 DEREK JACOBI & ANNE REID

Yet another delightfully kind and warm show can be seen over at PBS where last week they started airing LAST TANGO IN HALIFAX, an uplifting comedy-drama about romance and second chances. Childhood sweethearts Alan (Derek Jacobi) and Celia (Anne Reid), both widowed and in their 70s, fall for each other all over again when they are reunited after nearly 60 years. The celebratory tale of the power of love at any age is also a story about family — a family with baggage. Alan and Celia's daughters, whose dysfunctional lives bring drama at every turn, would never dream of getting in the way of their parents' happiness. But somehow they just can't help themselves.

'DANTE'S INFERNO' GAME GETS

EPIC MOVIE ADAPTATION
In movie news today, 'Deadline' reports that Universal has hired EVIL DEAD's helmer Fede Alvarez to direct their movie adaptation of DANTE'S INFERNO video game. This action packed epic adventure will follow Dante Aligheri, a knight, who with the help of the poet Virgil ventures into the nine rings of hell to rescue his beloved Beatrice. In the process, he becomes an unwitting pawn in an ancient war between heaven and hell. This is just one of the many video games getting movie versions - NEED FOR SPEED, ASSASSINS CREED (with Michael Fassbender in the lead role) and WORLD OF WARCRAFT being some of the most famous ones.

'WITCHES OF EAST END'

SMOKING HOT NEW POSTERS AND TRAILER

Speaking of new posters, check out these smoking hot ones for Lifetime's brand new magic drama WITCHES OF EAST END which hits the small screens on October 6th! There's also a rather stunning new promo-clip below for the show too, depicting the sexy witches in a rather breathtaking way! The show centres on the adventures of a mother and her two adult daughters, both of whom unknowingly are their family's next generation of witches, who lead seemingly quiet, uneventful modern day lives in Long Island's secluded seaside town of North Hampton. When one of the daughters becomes engaged to a young, wealthy newcomer, a series of events forces her mother to admit to her daughters they are, in fact, powerful and immortal witches. The mother is played by Julia Ormond, with Jenna Dewan Tatum, Madchen Amick, and Rachel Boston playing daughters, and with Patrick Heusinger and Eric Winter also in the cast. Two movie stars will have recurring roles - Virginia Madsen and Freddie Prinze Jr.

FIRST 'GRACE OF MONACO' TRAILER WITH NICOLE KIDMAN! 'THE WALKING DEAD' GETS SPINOFF SERIES AND A NEW CAST MEMBER IN CHRISTIAN SERRATOS! SERBIA SETS 'CIRCLES' AS OSCARS FOREIGN FILM ENTRY

'THE WALKING DEAD'

GETS A SPINOFF SHOW & CHRISTIAN SERRATOS AS NEW CAST MEMBER

In today's television news, AMC has confirmed that they are preparing a THE WALKING DEAD spinoff series for 2015! Not much is known so far about the plot, but it will not be based on the comic books and will have entirely new set of characters and stories set in the same world populated by zombies. It is not known whether the new show would explore the origins of the zombie apocalypse or will just follow some other survivors in some other city. The fourth season of the original show starts October 13th and during the following week around the world. It was announced yesterday that the forth season will have new face in Christian Serratos who will play beautiful Rosita Espinosa who survived the mysterious undead apocalypse that has taken over the planet and, if she becomes a popular one, she could earn a regular cast spot in the fifth season.

SERBIA SETS 'CIRCLES' FOR

FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM OSCAR
Serbia has selected deeply touching drama CIRCLES as their entry for Foreign Language Oscars! The moving drama, directed by Srdan Golubovic, scored critical acclaim at Sundance this year and has won many awards at film festivals around the world. The story is set in the midst of the Bosnian war, when Marko a Serbian soldier witnesses the brutal aggression of Haris, a Muslim civilian, by three fellow soldiers. Marko interferes and saves Haris, but is beaten to death by the infuriated soldiers. 2008: the war is over but the wounds of the conflict are still open. Marko's father is rebuilding a church, he is offered help by one of Marko's killers' son and hesitates about accepting it. Marko's friend, a renowned surgeon in Belgrade, faces terrible choices when told to operate on one of the three soldiers on the verge of death. As for Haris, he now lives in Germany and is faced with a unique opportunity to repay his debt to his savior.

GRACE OF MONACO TRAILER

WITH NICOLE KIDMAN

The first fresh trailer to arrive this week is also the first one for upcoming biopic GRACE OF MONACO in which Nicole Kidman, in a rather strange casting choice (Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron were originally considered for the role), plays famous Grace Kelly after she got married to Prince Rainier of Monaco. To open up in theatres November 27th, the movie will have the story centring on Princess Grace and the early years of her marriage to the Prince (Tim Roth), and how she helped solve a political dispute between France and Monaco and a looming French military invasion of the small princedom. The cast also includes Milo Ventimiglia, Paz Vega as Maria Callas, Derek Jacobi and Frank Langella.

DID YOU KNOW?
The royal family of Monaco has officially proclaimed this film as needlessly glamorized and historically inaccurate! For them it is not a biopic! The same thing happened to DIANA biopic which, starring Nicole's best friend Naomi Watts, also got horrid criticism and was not supported by the royal family nor by the press and the critics.

JESSICA BROWN FINDLAY JOINS JAMES MCAVOY, DANIEL RADCLIFFE IN 'FRANKENSTEIN'! CAITRIONA BALFE IS CLAIRE IN 'OUTLANDER' EPIC SHOW! RYAN GUZMAN, BRIANA EVIGAN RETURN TO 'STEP UP 5"! 'ENEMY OF MAN' SEAN BEAN'S MACBETH MOVIE

RYAN GUZMAN, BRIANA EVIGAN

RETURN TO ALL STAR 'STEP UP 5'

Now, I don't care what some cynics say, but HOLLYWOOD SPY has always enjoyed famous STEP UP dance movies. I just love the inspirational and positive atmosphere of those films, and you will agree that the last one, STEP UP REVOLUTION had the most spectacular dance choreographies ever seen on the big screen! You already know that STEP UP 5 is in the making and that it will be an all star movie gathering all the faces which became famous thanks to the previous parts of the franchise. Lionsgate has just confirmed that the new instalment, which will be set at a dance competition in Las Vegas this time, will have hunky Ryan Guzman from STEP UP REVOLUTION in the cast, alongside Briana Evigan (STEP UP TO THE STREETS), Misha Gabriel Hamilton, and many other dancers/actors from the previous four movies. Sadly, Channing Tatum and his wife Jenna Dewan, who were the stars of the original movie, won't appear in STEP UP 5!

JESSICA FINDLAY BROWN JOINS

JAMES MCAVOY, DANIEL RADCLIFFE IN 'FRANKENSTEIN'
The Hollywood Reporter writes that two boys, James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe, won't be alone in FRANKEN- STEIN! DOWNTON ABBEY's Jessica Brown Findlay will now play the lead female role in the horror epic. In the movie in which Daniel Radcliffe plays the hunchbacked butler Igor while James McAvoy is playing Dr. Victor Frankenstein, in the revisionist take on the famous Mary Shelley's classic tale this time told from Igor's perspective, Jessica Brown Findlay will portray a trapeze artist who becomes close to Igor after he saved her life. Findlay also stars in another epic movie - WINTER'S TALE, next to Colin Farrell, Will Smith and Matt Bomer!

'OUTLANDER' EPIC SHOW GETS

CAITRIONA BALFE FOR THE LEAD ROLE

And as I've promised we finally have the lead actress for Starz new epic adventure show OUTLANDER! Gorgeous Irish top model Caitriona Balfe (NOW YOU SEE ME) will head the cast in the 16 episode series based on Diana Gabaldon's bestselling novels. As Deadline reports, she will play Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743. When she is forced to marry Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate affair is ignited that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives. ROME's Tobias Menzies plays Claire's 20th century husband, while Graham McTavish (HOBBIT), Gary Lewis (BILLY ELLIOTT) and Duncan Lacroix (GAME OF THRONES) will play Scottish warriors, the uncles of Jamie Fraser.

'ENEMY OF MAN'

 SEAN BEAN'S MACBETH

And in other news from the epic genre today, this one is a bit stale but you won't mind: earlier this week it has been announced that Sean Bean has set the date for filming his new film ENEMY OF MAN for January! It will be a new take on Shakespeare's MACBETH described as a retelling of a timeless tale of war, regicide, betrayal and untimely revenge. Although 400 years old, Shakespeare’s work feels truly contemporary: An ambitious childless couple; their longing for family replaced by a chilling pursuit of absolute power. Remaining true to its dark heart, the film will strip back the dialogue, crank up the action and produce an atmospheric and blood-soaked chiller. Sean Bean will have a rather amazing company in the cast which also includes GAME OF THRONE's Charles Dance, British thespians Jason Flemyng and James D'Arcy, and HARRY PLOPPER's Rupert Grint! Another version of big screen MACBETH will also be seen next year with Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard.
