MICHELLE WILLIAMS AS MARYLIN MONROE IN "MY WEEK WITH MARYLIN"

After her stunning performance in "Brokeback Mountain", I've been wondering when would Michelle Williams get some big role. Although I'm not sure this is it, it still sounds like a step forward: she will star in a biopic about the life of Marilyn Monroe. Entitled "My Week With Marilyn" it will be produced by The Weinstein Co. and directed by Simon Curtis (director of charming British TV series "Cranford" and "David Copperfield"). This film will describe the time Marylin Monroe spent in London when she was filming "The Prince and the Showgirl" with Laurence Olivier. According to rumors Ralph Fiennes was set to play Olivier before he stepped out in order to direct "Coriolanus" in Serbia. "My Week With Marilyn" is scheduled to start shooting this Autumn.

SAM WORTHINGTON GOES ON A SF ADVENTURE IN "QUATERMAIN"

Ah, that Sam Worthington still continues scoring only huge sf and adventure roles. According to "Heat Vision" he will take the lead role and produce DreamWorks' "Quatermain". This sci-fi adventure will give a new, futuristic look on the famous literary hero. As you know, Allan Quatermain was the hero of "King's Solomon's Mines" a Victorian adventure novel by H. Rider Haggard, and its sequel "Allan Quatermain".
He was an adventurer who lead an expedition into an unexplored region of Africa to find fabled treasure of the lost mines. Richard Chamberlaine gave probably the most famous cinematic portrayal of the character. But the new sf version with Sam Worthington will be set in a time in which humans have left Earth and Quatermain will return to the planet from a sojourn in space, embarking on another "King Solomon's Mines"-style adventure but on a planet wide scale.

NEW ROLES FOR EWAN MCGREGOR, EMILY BLUNT, COLIN FARRELL, JENNIFER ANISTON, TONI COLLETTE, KATHERINE HEIGL AND CHRISTINA RICCI.

Today we are swamped with casting news, so here we go right away: Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt and Kristin Scott Thomas will go "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen". This whimsical story follows a henpecked, slightly pompous middle-aged scientist from London who is approached by a mysterious sheik about an outlandish plan to introduce the sport of salmon fishing into the Yemen. Through his diaries, from beginning to glorious, tragic end, mixed with government memos, e-mails, letters, and interview transcripts the film will deftly capture the absurdity of bureaucratic dysfunction.

Jamie Foxx, Colin Farrell, Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston will all star in "Horrible Bosses", a movie about three longtime friends who all become so fed up with their jobs they decide to kill their bosses.

The tandem from my favourite movie "Murriel's Wedding", Toni Collette and P.J Hogan will reunite in "Mental" the story about Collette's character, a bizarre, eccentric woman who turns a family's life upside down when she becomes the nanny for their five young children. The story is based on P.J. Hogan's real life hilarious, outrageous, dangerous, courageous, inspiring, heartbreaking and totally, totally mad nanny.

Katherine Heigl has signed on for "The Age of Adaline". The film will follow a young woman born at the turn of 20th century, who is rendered ageless after an accident. After years of a solitary life, she meets a man who might be worth losing her immortality.

Shirley MacLaine and Christina Ricci have joined John Corbett, Maria Bello and Bill Pullman in "Wild Oats". Shirley will play a widow who is living the quiet life. She ends up with a cash windfall and goes to Las Vegas with her granddaughter played by Ricci.

"SPARTACUS: BLOOD AND SAND" GETTING A PREQUEL WHILE ANDY WHITFIELD RECOVERS FROM CANCER

While Andy Whitfield is undergoing a treatment for his cancer, and thus cannot shoot the already pre-ordered second season of the ultra popular and mega successful "Spartacus: Blood and Sand", Starz has found an interesting solution. While their main actor is recovering, they will shoot a prequel to the original series in six episodes which will start shooting this summer in New Zealand and will air in January 2011.
Lucy Lawless and John Hannah will take the center stage in the prequel which will tell the story of the rise of the House of Batiatus and its champions before Spartacus arrives as a captured Thracian slave.
John Hannah will return as Batiatus, owner of the ludus, along with his wife Lucretia, played by Lucy Lawless. Other returning actors include Peter Mensah (Doctore), Manu Bennett (Crixus), Antonio Te Maioho (Barca), Nick Tarabay (Ashur), Lesley-Ann Brandt (Naevia) and some new characters will also be added, most notably the gladiator who was champion of the House of Batiatus before Spartacus or even Crixus, who will help fill in the story about the people and politics in the House of Batiatus and ancient Capua as a whole.

JERI RYAN IS HOLLYWOOD SPY'S BEST SF BEAUTY. NEW POLL: BEST TV HUNKS

HOLLYWOOD SPY's latest poll is over and you have chosen Jeri Ryan as your favourite SF BEAUTY. She lead a tough battle against Linda Park who won 29% of your votes with Jeri winning with 33%. Morena Baccarin took third spot with 18% of your votes.
I'm sure nobody is surprised, Jeri Ryan really is the main star of every sf geek's dream. She seduced us with her mesmerizing looks, lethal charms and flawless body starring as the prettiest Borg the universe has ever seen in "Star Trek Voyager". I'm sure many of us consider "Voyager" their favourite "Star Trek" series thanks to magnificent Jeri. Her role was so influential that most fantasy shows after that had at least one tough, sexy, cool and brave vixen in their cast (T'Pol in ENTERPRISE, Cara in SEEKER). After her legendary role, Jeri appeared in many other TV shows including "Law & Order", "Shark", "Leverage", "The O.C.", "Boston Legal" ... Can you believe she's already 42???
Now since, we've seen what happens when you leave voting to boys (we had just under 100 votes, and I had mistakenly thought this would be the most successful poll so far),
who are obviously too lazy, we shall dedicate next month to our female readers :) In the next three polls we shall be choosing your favourite TV HUNK. Part one includes following dashing gentleman our ladies have been staring at in front of the small screens: Eric Dane (GREY'S ANATOMY), Craig Parker (LEGEND OF THE SEEKER, SPARTACUS), Jamie Bamber (LAW & ORDER UK, GALACTICA), Jonathan Rhys Meyers (THE TUDORS), Michael Weatherly (NCIS), Jon Hamm (MAD MEN), Carmine Giovinazzo (CSI NY) and Matthew Fox (LOST). You can vote as much as you like next two weeks.

RAY STEVENSON, MILLA JOVOVICH, MADS MIKKELSEN, CHRISTOPH WALTZ, ORLANDO BLOOM, LOGAN LERMAN, LUKE EVANS, MATTHEW MACFADYEN JOIN "THE THREE MUSKETEERS"

I'm not sure how we haven't noticed that the casting process for Paul W.S. Anderson's 3D epic adventure "The Three Musketeers" has already begun, but it seems they already have a pretty stunning bunch of actors signed on. Listen to this: Ray Stevenson, Luke Evans and Matthew Macfadyen will play Porthos, Athos and Aramis. Mads Mikkelsen will portray Rochefort. Christoph Waltz will portray Cardinal Richelieu while Anderson's wify and Serbia's own Milla Jovovich will play the mysterious and naughty Milady de Winter.

And that's not all, according to "Heat Vision" the producers have sent an offer to Orlando Bloom for the role of the Duke of Buckingham, and they also want Logan Lerman as D'Artagnan, the youngster who runs away from home to fight for French royalty. I'm pretty much stunned, how about you???

JESSICA BIEL AND LUKE EVANS JOIN PERIOD ROMANCE "VIVALDI"

It seems that the period movie about the famous composer "Vivaldi" is finally moving ahead, with Jessica Biel and Luke Evans in talks for the lead roles. The film will center on a forbidden romance that develops between composer, priest and violin virtuoso Antonio Vivaldi and his protege, singer Anna Tessieri Giro, leading him to write his enduring masterpiece "The Four Seasons". Giro was Vivaldi's favorite prima donna and part of his entourage. Vivaldi at the time denied any romantic relationship, and most modern scholars believe that to be true.
The movie is set to premiere in 2011 and many previous reports announced Joseph Fiennes, Alfred Molina, Malcolm McDowell, Neve Campbell and GĂ©rard Depardieu as members of the cast, but I'm not sure if they are still in the run. As you know, you will watch Jessica this summer in the action flick "The A-Team", while we've mentioned young Luke Evans recently as Apollo in "Clash of the Titans" and as Zeus in Tarsem Singh’s upcoming Greek epic "Immortals".

TONI COLLETTE AND COLIN FARRELL JOIN "FRIGHT NIGHT" REMAKE

Now this is an interesting casting. According to "Heat Vision" Colin Farrell and Toni Collette will star in DreamWorks' remake of the 1985 comedy horror "Fright Night". Young Anton Yelchin has already signed on to star in this film directed by Craig Gillespie, which will tell the story of a teenager (Anton Yelchin) who is convinced that his new neighbor is a vampire, though no one will believe him.
Collin Farrell will portray the dashing vampire preying on the neighborhood while ultra talented Toni Collette will appear as Yelchin's mom, who at first disapproves of the new arrival but changes her attitude when she meets the magnetic man and, what a surprise, doesn't believe her son when he tries to tell her Jerry is a vampire.

A WEDDING IN THE SERIES FINALE OF "LEGEND OF THE SEEKER"?

Ah, we have come to the very end. This weekend we shall watch the first part of "Legend of the Seeker" second season finale, which is according to most news also the finale of the whole series, since ABC has canceled the show, and it seems there won't be a third season. The only comfort is the fact that the finale seems quite epic, with Richard, Kahlan, Cara and Zed finishing their adventures with a wedding. According to these pictures, it seems the show will finish with Darken Rahl (who will obviously finally turn good) marrying Richard the Seeker and Kahlan the mother Confessor. So we shall shed both tears of joy (for the happy ending) and tears of sadness (for the final ending). And, yes, I shall probably weep for Tabrett Bethell :((
