the story of the twin planets of Anarres and Urras, which remain divided by centuries of fear and distrust. The utopian colony on Anarres has long been isolated from its mother planet Urras, a civilization of warring nations, great poverty, and immense wealth. On Anarres, a brilliant physicist has developed a theory that overcomes the limitations of time and distance, altering the understanding of space itself. This theory has the potential to radically change these two worlds and their place in the wider universe, but in order to prove it, he must travel to Urras and attempt to tear down the walls that have kept the two civilizations apart for generations.

Encounter hits Amazon December 10th

In other sf news today, check out the trailer for Octavia Spencer and Riz Ahmed's sf movie ENCOUNTER. Hitting Amazon Prime Video on December 10th (with a limited cinematic release a week before that), it sees Riz playing a decorated Marine who goes on a rescue mission to save his two young sons from an unhuman threat. As their journey takes them in increasingly dangerous directions, the boys will need to leave their childhoods behind. The film, which premiered at Toronto Film Festival this year, was directed by Michael Pearce and also stars Rory Cochrane. Check out the trailer below:

FINAL TRAILER RELEASED!

Of course, the main news for most movie goers today is the reveal of the final ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY trailer and poster! Starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen and Alan Tyduk, the sf adventure, set in a time of cosmic unrest, will see them playing a group of unlikely heroes who band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction. This prequel which explains how the Rebels got the plans of Death Star, hits cinemas this December and hopefully won't be as dreadfully boring as The Force Awakens (it made us sleep, it did).

First of all, people, I expect your congratulations :) because our yesterday's post was actually Hollywood Spy's 3,000th one! Thank you for suffering through so much, so far! Your main treat for today, I'm sure you've already seen it, is the brand new trailer for ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY which arrived earlier today after a couple of previous teasers revealing everybody's favourite villain Darth Vader. The spin off of the popular sf saga should land into theatres December 16th!

ROGUE ONE
follows the Rebels who are trying to get their hands on the plans for the Empire's infamous Death Star. Felicity Jones plays Jyn Erso who leads the mission accompanied by a wayward band of Rebels who are trying to secure the plans so that the Rebel Alliance can destroy the Empire's new, deadly weapon, an armoured space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet. Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, Riz Ahmed are some of the stars playing the Rebels. Mads Mikkelsen plays Jyn's father, who helped building the Death Star.

Your second trailer for today is for Robert Zemeckis' WW2 thriller which hits theatres this November. In ALLIED Brad  Pitt plays a U.S. intelligence officer, who teams up (in a fake marriage) with French Resistance fighter played by Marion Cotillard on a mission to kill a German ambassador – in Casablanca, to be later on reunited in London!

Certainly the biggest movie event of the day, today, was the release of the first teaser trailer for ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY which takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope! As a spin-off, it goes into new territory, exploring the galactic struggle from a ground-war perspective while maintaining that essential Star Wars feel that fans have come to know. Directed by Gareth Edwards, the movie, out December 16th, stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Riz Ahmed, Alan Tudyk, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Donnie Yen and Wen Jiang!

STEALING DEATH STAR PLANS!  
The movie is set in a period of Civil War. The Rebel's have scored their first major victory against the Galactic Empire after a surprise attack from a hidden base. And It's during this sneak raid that a team of Rebel spies manage to steal the secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon: The dreaded Death Star!

Felicity Jones is Jyn Oso whom the Rebels send on a daring mission! Diego Luna is her accomplice Cassein Willix with whom she infiltrates the Imperial forces! Riz Ahmed is also a resistance fighter, while Ben Mendelsohn is an Imperial villain. Genevieve O’Reilly reprises her role of rebel leader Mon Mothma! According to some rumours Mads Mikkelsen is Jyn's father, who worked on designing the Death Star! There are also rumours that she could be mother of Daisy Ridley's FORCE AWAKENS' character.

While the geekdom is in frenzy, anxiously awaiting December premiere of STAR WARS THE FORCE AWAKENS, the spinoff to the popular science fiction saga STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE is already casting its stars. Set between 'Episode III Revenge of the Sith' and the original 'Star Wars' movie 'A New Hope', ROGUE ONE will revolve around a group of rebels looking to steal blueprints to the Death Star. Due to be released December 2016, it will have Oscar nominee Felicity Jones in the lead roles alongside rising star Sam Claflin! Ben Mendelsohn and another of our fave British stars Riz Ahmed will also star in the Gareth Edwards directed movie! After that, December 2017 will bring STAR WARS VIII to the cinemas.
