FIRST KEELEY HAWES, PAAPA ESSIEDU TEASER

Channel 4 has released first teaser with Keeley Hawes and Paapa Essiedu in their new six part series FALLING. She plays Anna, a devoted nun, and Essiedu is David, a Catholic priest. Both are deeply committed to their work in the church and in their community. Neither are expected to fall in love. But when they do, both are forced to wrestle with what it means for them, their vows, and their relationship with God. This witty and moving love drama will also see Rakie Ayola, Jason Watkins, Niamh Cusack, Adrian Scarborough, David Dawson, Susan Brown and Sandra Voe starring in the cast. The series will air sometime this year.

BBC and PBS are set to do a follow up series to their Miss Austen titled MISS AUSTEN RETURNS based on Gill Hornby's The Elopement novel. Keeley Hawes will probably return as Cassandra, Jane's sister in  the true story that happens later on from Miss Austen, around the 1820s, and within a wing of the family that involves Cassandra, as Deadline writes. But the past-tense years that the series will focus on will be ones that were highly creative for Jane when her novels were actually being published. Cassandra is carrying the flame in the present-tense part, and rather than burning letters and looking after Jane’s privacy as in the first series, this will be about an interpretation of Jane’s meaning and value.

BBC has released trailer and February 2nd air date for their upcoming new mini series MISS AUSTEN which will also air on PBS in USA but from May 4th, marking 250 years since Austen's birth. The four part drama stars Keeley Hawes as Cassandra Austen, with Synnøve Karlsen, Patsy Ferran, Phyllis Logan, Max Irons, Alfred Enoch, Calam Lynch, Mirren Mack, Kevin McNally also in the cast. A year ago I told you that PBS Masterpiece is preparing mini series MISS AUSTEN and now we have the first image with Keeley Hawes as Jane Austen's sister Cassandra who burned Jane’s letters after her death. Rose Leslie plays Cassandra’s friend Isabella, who is about to lose her home after her father’s death. Cassandra wants to help her, but she also wants to find a stash of her late sister Jane’s private letters that could ruin Jane’s reputation if they came out.  Finding a way to guide Isabella towards true happiness, Cassandra is finally able to understand and celebrate the sacrifices she chose to make for her sister, Jane. Jessica Hynes, Alfred Enoch, Calam Lynch, Phyllis Logan, Kevin McNally and Max Irons also star. The four part drama will also air on BBC in UK.

Stonehouse had impressed Prime Minister Harold Wilson and Labour stalwarts from an early stage in his parliamentary career. From a working-class background, he’d graduated from the London School of Economics, was in the RAF during the War and seemed the ideal candidate for a life in politics. It soon becomes apparent his reputation as a devoted family man masked the truth, as he’d embarked on an extra marital affair with his secretary and acted as a spy for the Czech Secret Service in the 1960s. His complex financial status and relationships eventually took their toll, with Stonehouse deliberately stealing the identity of a recently deceased constituent. Stonehouse applied for a passport in the dead man’s name and began to weave an elaborate conspiracy, seeking a new life in Australia. But his plans soon turned sour as Stonehouse was arrested by Australian police who had been under the mistaken impression that he was the fugitive peer Lord Lucan. Brought back to the UK by Scotland Yard detectives, Stonehouse found that he was crucial to keeping the Labour government in power with its wafer-thin majority.
