Although I cannot say that I liked the first season, MGM Plus has renewed their ROBIN HOOD epic series for season two which has started production in Serbia and has added James Purefoy, Colin O'Donoghue and Luke Roberts to the cast in the royal roles as the new season will see the arrival of King Henry (Purefoy), Prince Richard (O’Donoghue) and the ambitious Amaury D’Montfort (Roberts), who will reshape the political landscape, forcing Rob and his allies to navigate shifting loyalties, royal power struggles and dangerous new threats. In the new season we will visit the treacherous courts of England, France, and Rome, with the outlaw rebellion transformed into a high stakes battle for the soul of a kingdom. As the Angevin empire threatens to tear itself apart, Rob and Marian are drawn into the orbit of kings and queens, forced to wield the very instruments of Norman power to secure a future for the Saxons. Jack Patten, Lauren McQueen, Sean Bean, Lydia Peckham, Steven Waddington and Connie Nielsen all return.

MGM Studios has released an action packed, stunning and colourful new trailer for their big screen adaptation of popular MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE which will hit cinemas June 5th starring 

Masters of the Universe are out this June

Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson and Charlotte Riley alongside Jared Leto and Idris Elba. The $200 million movie was directed by Travis Knight.

 

WHAT IS THE STORY? 

After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam (Galitzine) back to Eternia, where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor (Leto). To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela (Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Elba), and embrace his true destiny as He-Man — the most powerful man in the universe. 

  

 WHO ELSE IS IN THE CAST?

Beside Galitzine in the lead role, the cast also includes Camila Mendes who plays his sidekickTeela, a warrior who, as Captain of Eternia’s Royal Guard, is responsible for protecting the royal family, especially Prince Adam aka He-Man. Jared Leto is Keldor / Skeletor, the tyrannical ruler of Eternia and a disfigured warlock whose fiendish grip on the planet forces Prince Adam to reclaim his destiny as He-Man. Idris Elba is Duncan / Man-At-Arms, Teela's adoptive father and King Randor's trusted general who fights with his vast array of weapons and gadgets as one of Adam's Heroic Warriors. Morena Baccarin is the Sorceress, Teela's biological mother, and the current guardian of Castle Grayskull whose magical knowledge is unsurpassed. Alison Brie is Evil-Lyn, a sorceress who betrayed Eternia for Skeletor's cause. On Earth, she poses as Adam's former college professor and mentor, Evelyn Powers. Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson is Malcolm / Fisto, Duncan's younger brother and Teela's adoptive uncle who fights with his distinctive metal arm as a Heroic Warrior. James Purefoy is King Randor, co-ruler of Eternia, Marlena's husband, and Adam's father. Charlotte Riley is Queen Marlena Glenn, an ex-astronaut from Earth, co-ruler of Eternia, Randor's wife, and Adam's mother. Gracing the small screens in three consecutive Sundays ahead of Easter, starting from March 22nd is Fox Biblical TV movie series THE FAITHFUL and we have the first teaser. The series will focus on The Bible’s most legendary women: Sarah, the wife of Abraham; Hagar, Sarah’s servant and the mother of Ishmael; Rebekah, Sarah’s great-niece and the wife of Isaac; Leah, Jacob’s wife and the mother of six of the twelve tribes of Israel; and Rachel, Jacob’s favored wife. Although their life has been already adapted a couple of times by BBC, famous Mitford sisters are getting a new period set series at UKTV's channel Drama and Britbox in USA and today we have new images as the series will start June 19th. The six part series OUTRAGEOUS will depict the British socialite sisters, whose antics in the 1930s made their family one of the most well known in the UK. Several infamously supported fascism and the Nazis, though two became staunch opponents of the ideology. Two became well known authors. It will be a story of family betrayals, public scandal, political extremism, personal heartache and even imprisonment. Given that the air date is relatively soon, BritBox has released the trailer as well today which you can see below the post, so you can check it out and tell us what you think, will you be watching when it is released for streaming this summer?

The series starts next week in France

After our visit to the royal mistress Diane de Poitiers and then to The Three Musketeers, we are finishing our glorious French week with her royal majesty MARIE ANTOINETTE who has just left the imperial palace Schonbrunn in Vienna and is off to join the royal court in Paris where she is expected to arrive October 31st with new historical series which will air on Canal + and then on BBC 2 in United Kingdom later this year and BBC First in Australia basically almost everywhere where Versailles aired as well. The good news for all you Americans is that the series has been sold to PBS for airing next March. The 8 part series, starring Emilia Schule in the lead role follows the famed queen Marie Antoinette, who was the last queen of France before the French Revolution. Louis Cunningham stars as the dauphin and the future King Louis XVI and James Purefoy as his father Louis XV who at some point tried to have sex with his new daughter in law! The scandal!  Marthe Keller, Jack Archer, Jasmine Blackborow, Gaia Weiss as the king's favourite and professional whore Madame du Barry with whom Marie did not get on well, Crystal Sheperd, Caroline Piette, Oscar Lesage, Roxane Duran, Liah O’Prey, Jonas Bloquet, Nathan Willcocks, Laura Benson, Nicola Perot, Paul Bandey, Maximilien Seweryn also star in the international cast.

 

  MARIE ANTOINETTE 

was barely 14 years old when she left Austria and her mother empress Maria Theresa to marry the Dauphin in France. She is still a stubborn and dissipated young child who must comply with French rules, which are numerous and complicated. The young princess quickly suffers from not being able to live her life as she sees fit. She is constantly under pressure to carry on the Bourbon line. A mission more complicated than expected: even if the relationship between Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI improves over time, it will take them seven years to consummate their marriage. From the young runner-up to the queen of style, a true fashion icon, Marie Antoinette quickly impresses with her charisma and naturalness. She will gradually understand the codes and secrets of the French court and completely recreate Versailles in her image! But her success stirs up jealousy and rivalry. Defamatory pamphlets and persistent rumors about her private life undermine her reputation. It will take a lot of courage to defeat her numerous enemies at the Versailles court.

  

 THE STORY BEHIND THE SET

Given that the show has been written by an all female team you can expect a feminist agenda stuffed into the times where they did not know an F about Feminism. The 1770s set show was shot in authentic historical locations including the chateau of Versailles from which Marie went on to have her wigged head chop chopped after advising the starving masses to eat some cake if they don't have bread. Of course, the show will depict such a person as not frivolous but strong, empowering, emancipated and independent. I know, I know, I am laughing too... or maybe I am crying. What is known to be true is that she did break down the etiquette established by Louis XIV whom we watched in Versailles series created by the same team as the new series. The court will also include Joseph Bologne de Saint-George, a Creole virtuoso violinist and conductor who was part of Marie-Antoinette’s entourage and who is soon getting his own movie. The series was shot on the sets that took more than two months to built and with the crew that had almost 800 people! The second  season is already being written!
