The Kalmar union of Denmark, Norway and Sweden kept Scandinavian kingdoms joined for over a century. Margrethe, the founder of that union, was also known as the Semiramis of North and Lady King. She died aboard her royal ship when she was trying to recover Finland for the Union as well. She was succeeded by her great nephew Eric of Pomerania as her son King Olaf II of Denmark (whom she had with her husband King Haakon VI of Norway) died before her.
