PACHINKO is a saga that follows the lives of four generations of a
poor Korean immigrant family, exiled from their home and struggling to
build a future in Japan.
The complex story begins in 1911 with the forbidden relationship between
Sunja, a fisherman’s daughter, and a wealthy man she meets near her
home by the seashore. When Sunja learns she is pregnant and her lover
his married, she accepts the proposal of a minister on his way to Japan.
Her choices have a profound effect on her life and the lives of her
descendants. The Terror and Under the Dome's Soo Hugh is executive
producing and writing the show.

DeletePacinko(Pachinko) - is what I call Al Pacino, my favorite male actor.
ReplyDeleteI suppose most people will find interest both in the book and in the TV series because of the subject: immigration and immigrants. Its complexity touches almost everybody, in any ethnical society, asian or european.
Yes, for us who speak Slavic languages Pacinko does sound like a pet name for someone you love.
