JOSH HUTCHERSON A NEW CANDIDATE FOR SPIDER-MAN!

Now that the casting mysteries around "Captain America" are over, we have obviously found a new casting puzzle in "Spider-Man". Since the rumors we mentioned last week about Logan Lerman getting the main role were proved to be incorrect, we off course have a new name for the new main candidate to play Spidy. According to IESB.net a new contender for the lead role in the "Spider-Man" reboot is Josh Hutcherson. As reports say, Josh Hutcherson hasn't signed anything yet, but he is on the studio's short list.
It's interesting that young Hutcherson is one the few teen actors I actually like. There's just something genuine in his presence, as we have seen in "A Bridge to Terabithia", "Journey to the Center of the Earth", "Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant"... He also appears in the Sundance movie "The Kids Are All Right", which opens in cinemas this July.

ELLEN POMPEO IS HOLLYWOOD SPY'S FIRE ANGEL. NEW POLL - YOUR FAVOURITE BRITISH LADS!

Now this was an unusual poll. Thanks to her devoted fans (who lead a voting campaign all over Twitter) Ellen Pompeo has won HOLLYWOOD SPY's Fire Angel poll with stunning 40% of your 299 votes. She left behind her Marcia Cross (20%), Bryce Dallas Howard (16%) and Christine Hendricks (9%).
With her icy beauty and fiery hair, Ellen Pompeo has become one of the most popular TV actresses thanks to her tender, fragile and ethereal appearance in ultra successful "Grey's Anatomy". Having in mind her lovely charisma and talent I'm not really sure why she hasn't been a more frequent guest in Hollywood movies ( we've seen her in not so many movies - "Moonlight Mile", "Catch Me If You Can"), she would be a great actress in romantic movies and dramas. I hope it's not a curse of some kind, since she appeared in "Daredevil" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" but her roles were deleted from the final cuts in both movies. She truly is one of television's most mesmerizing fire angels!

Since we've spent more than a month choosing your favourite blonds, brunettes and redheads in Hollywood, I think we should now do one poll with gents. The new poll starts now and in the next two weeks we will be choosing your favourite BRITISH LAD among some of the most talented British actors of younger generation. Pick your candidate and vote: dashing Henry Cavill ("The Tudors"), adorable Hugh Dancy ("King Arthur", "Evening"), elegant Simon Woods ("Rome", "Cranford"), captivating Matthew Goode ("Watchmen", "Leap Year"), profound Jamie Bell ("Tintin", "Eagle of the Ninth"), ultra talented Tom Hardy ("Star Trek Nemesis", "Bronson"), beloved James McAvoy ("Atonement", "Wanted", "Penelope"), or the lucid Cillian Murphy ("Sunshine", "The Wind That Shakes The Barley", "Breakfast on Pluto"). Vote for your favourite British lad!

ANDREW NICCOL RETURNS TO SF IN "I'M MORTAL"

Now who doesn't like an intelligent sf movie? One of the best sf directors Andrew Niccol will go back to his roots since according to "Heat Vision" he might start directing "I'm Mortal" which similarly to his earlier films such as "Gattaca" and "The Truman Show", describes an alternate, not-so-distant future where advances in technology have allowed for human's aging gene to be shut off. Time has become the new currency, to stave off overpopulation, and the rich can essentially live forever while the rest of society has to negotiate for their immortality. Niccol's story centers on a young man who comes across a fortune of time and is hunted down by the dirty cops known as time keepers. It was said that every character would look young, even with parents and children appearing to be the same age.
Apparently, Andrew Niccol is currently searching for actors, and could start the production this summer.

"HERE, THERE BE DRAGONS" AND "THE SEARCH FOR THE RED DRAGON" TO BE ADAPTED INTO A MOVIE

According to "MovieWeb" another epic adventure awaits us in the future. The first two books "Here, There Be Dragons" and "The Search for the Red Dragon" in James A. Owen's fantasy series "The Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica" will be adapted for the big screen. Rick Porras who worked on "The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring" will be a producer for Warner Bros. with the premiere set for 2011.
"The Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica" consists of four tomes set around a very secret book that has the unpublished maps and journals of history's most famous author-adventurers. The protagonists in the story are a young J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, themselves future giants of the fantasy-adventure genre whose famous works are imagined by Owen to have inspired these fictional adventures.

SONY PICTURES TO MAKE "POMPEII" HISTORICAL MINISERIES

Heep Heep Hooray! We will get yet another historical TV series!!! As "The Hollywood Reporter" reports Sony Pictures TV will make a miniseries based on Robert Harris' bestseller "Pompeii". The project was originally meant for the big screen with Roman Polanski as a director, but it will now become a TV miniseries described as both a love story and a thriller, with the historical, apocalyptic backdrop of a city on the precipice of destruction and characters who are totally relatable to a contemporary audience. "Pompeii" shall focus on an aqueduct engineer named Marcus Attilius. He finds himself fighting time to keep the military and trade ports on the Naples Bay alive. He doesn't realize that he's also up against one of the deadliest forces of nature.

RYAN REYNOLDS WILL WEAR A CG SUIT IN "GREEN LANTERN"

Eh, so the latest news is that Ryan Reynolds will not have to sweat his muscles under a tight rubber "monster of a super hero suit", since the costume he will be wearing in "Green Lantern" is going to be a CG one. Some sources say that Ryan will use a gray tracking motion/performance capture suit with led lights to make this happen. "Green Lantern's" costume designer Ngila Dickson (won an Oscar for "The Lord Of The Rings: The Return of The King") was given a task to make a suit that would be different from the other superheroes spandex suit designs we've seen in the past. The "Green Lantern" suit is something that should look alien, it needs to seem other worldly. It encompasses any creature that wears the ring, and Hal Jordan is the first human to ever wear the suit. This was a chance for Dickson to do something different and plus Hal Jordan changes into the suit multiple times in mid scene, and the CG also allows him to do that. According to the same sources when the CG is complete, the suit will look like a manifestation of his power.

THE FIRST PICTURE OF JEREMY IRONS AS POPE RODRIGO IN SHOWTIME'S "THE BORGIAS"

Here's the first exclusive picture of Jeremy Irons as pope Borgia in the historical saga "The Borgias" which will amaze us on Showtime in 2011. As we've already written, this ten episode drama series will follow the infamous Italian Renaissance family the Borgias. In the show produced by Neil Jordan and written by Michael Hirst ("The Tudors", "Elizabeth") Jeremy Irons will play Rodrigo Borgia, the cunning, manipulative patriarch of The Borgia family who ascends to the highest circles of power, Colm Feore will play his arch enemy Cardinal Giuliano Della Rovere, and we reported earlier this week that François Arnaud will play Cesare Borgia, Rodrigo's Machiavellian son, but we are yet to see who will play his son Juan, and his scandalously beautiful daughter, Lucrezia. "The Borgias" will be a complex, unvarnished portrait of one of history’s’ most intriguing and infamous dynastic families whose power and influence eventually lead them to their demise. Their motto was "politics have no relation to morals".
Being a huge fan of historical sagas, Michael Hirst, Showtime and "The Tudors" I can't wait for this show's premiere in 2011.

THE FIRST TRAILER FOR "THE PILLARS OF THE EARTH"

The first trailer for the eight part $40 million historical mini series "The Pillars of the Earth" coming to Starz this July has just been released. This adaptation of Ken Follett's famous novel is set against a backdrop of war, religious strife and power struggles which tears lives and families apart. In that time, there rises a magnificent Cathedral in Kingsbridge. Against the backdrop, love-stories entwine: Tom (Rufus Sewell), the master builder, Aliena (Hayley Atwell), the noblewoman, the sadistic Lord William (David Oakes), Philip (Matthew MacFadyen), the prior of Kingsbridge, Jack (Eddie Redmayne), the artist in stone work and Ellen (Natalia Worner), the woman from the forest who casts a curse. At once, this is a sensuous and enduring love story and an epic that shines with the fierce spirit of a passionate age. Follett masterfully weaves these stories through political turmoil of 12th century England, creating a relevant and viable world for today's audience and for generations to come. The cast also includes Ian McShane and Donald Sutherland. Judging from the trailer, I must admit I've expected something a bit more, and I don't really like the female part of the cast, but I will still check it out this summer.

ALYSSA MILANO AND CHRISTOPHER GORHAM IN "MY GIRLFRIEND'S BOYFRIEND"

Here's a sweet movie for HOLLYWOOD SPY's romantic readers. Coming out this year, "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend" follows Jesse (super cute Alyssa Milano), a sassy, intelligent woman who has yet to find "Mr. Right", until she bumps into Ethan (super charming Christopher Gorham), a writer pushed to the edge of despair after having another novel rejected by publishers. For Jesse, the encounter offers more than a chance to inspire the artist in Ethan again. It also opens a new, romantic chapter in her life... with one huge complication. Moments after meeting the perfect guy for her, Jesse meets Mr. Perfect— Troy (Michael Landes), a confident and successful advertising executive who makes almost every moment elegant and romantic. Soon Jesse is in trouble over her head grappling with the ultimate romantic paradox: what does a girl do when she meets "Mr. Right" after already meeting the right guy?
Ultimately, what Jesse discovers about love reflects what the audience discovers about the story itself: things are not always what they seem. "My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend" is a classic love story turned upside down, a romantic comedy that blends a warm sincerity with fresh, stylized storytelling and some very big surprises.

ALMOST OFFICIAL: LOGAN LERMAN IS SPIDERMAN

If we can trust the latest reports from "HitFix" young Logan Lerman from "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" has really been offered the title role in the reboot of the popular "Spiderman" franchise. Rumors about this were denied some months ago, but as the sources from "HitFix" say Lerman is “now almost 100% locked but not in contract negotiations for the role yet".Marc Webb (“500 Days of Summer”) will direct the new movie, scheduled for summer 2012, which will be a more teen-friendly incarnation of Spiderman, taking Peter Parker back to his early days of balancing girl trouble, homework, and crime fighting. Logan Lerman has apparently beat out some other young stars such as Anton Yelchin and Jesse Eisenberg.
