Six time Academy Award nominee Jim Sheridan is set to direct a big screen adaptation of Marguerite Henry's novel KING OF THE WIND as a historical drama about an 18th century Arabian colt that would go on to sire the modern thoroughbred bloodline. As Variety reports, the film retraces the path of the so-called Darley stallion from the stables of the Moroccan sultan through to the courts of England and France. The Irish director plans to shoot the project in the Middle East and North Africa, promising a unique slant tied to the underexplored perspective of the horse itself. He said he will try to make the animal as human as possible.

When the oil rush takes hold of the village and threatens to destroy the farming community forever, the women of the Lamberts fight for justice and win their independence. This led the hardworking village population being torn between progress, environmental destruction and survival. The 20 million euro series will have both American and international names in the cast.

BBC has released new images from their upcoming new mini series MISS AUSTEN which will arrive sometime next year and will also air on PBS in USA marking 250 years since Austen's birth. The four part drama stars Keeley Hawes as Cassandra Austen, with Synnøve Karlsen, Patsy Ferran, Phyllis Logan, Max Irons, Alfred Enoch, Calam Lynch, Mirren Mack, Kevin McNally also in the cast. On PBS it will air in May and you can see glimpses of the new series down in the trailer for PBS Masterpiece spring 2025 offer of new shows.

 

  THE DRAMA BEGINS IN 1830

Almost three years ago I told you that Prime Video is planing a Spanish language series adaptation of Isabel Allende's THE HOUSE OF THE SPIRITS

Prime will stream it in over 240 countries around the world

which Eva Longoria is executive producing. Alfonso Herrera, Dolores Fonzi, Nicole Wallace, Juan Pablo Raba and Fernanda Castillo will star in the series set to arrive next year and we have the first image today. The popular literary classic is a family saga that follows the extraordinary lives of three generations of women in the Trueba family. Set in a remote South American country, this timeless drama, with tints of Magical Realism, takes us on an epic journey of fortune, intrigue, love, and fate throughout the 20th century. The book was previously adapted into an Oscar winning film with Glenn Close, Meryl Streep, Jeremy Irons, Antonio Banderas, Vanessa Redgrave.

With time running out, he teams up with a fisherman from Seattle, beats the camp selected boat at the national trials, and goes on to win a gold medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Pic will follow Brad’s journey and contentious relationship with the Olympic team coach, ultimately winning the US its first gold medal in rowing in 50 years.
