As you already know Disney is doing a lot of live action remakes of their famous animated classics and one of them is also SWORD IN THE STONE which has just found its director in Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later)! The 1963 animated hit was, as 'The Hollywood Reporter' writes, the final movie released by the studio before Walt Disney’s death!

The movie takes a light hearted view of the famous mediaeval legend of King Arthur, focusing on the young Arthur being mentored by the magician Merlin. This is not to be confused with another Disney's project on the same topic The Merlin Saga which might be helmed by Ridley Scott. That one follows young Merlin. Is generally grim and dark Fresnadillo the right director for this job?

JOINS 'THE CROWN' SEASON 2

Well, if you watched Netflix' ultra expensive and equally ambitious THE CROWN series, which also picked up a number of awards and nominations since it was aired last December, you will be happy to hear that Matthew Goode will join the cast of the second season of the series that follows the life of reigning British monarch Queen Elizabeth II.

  As 'Radio Times' has found out, Matthew will be playing the society photographer Lord Snowdon who was married to Princess Margaret in the 60s and the 70s. The second season will start from the 1956 Suez Crisis all the way to the mid 1960s. That will also be the last season in which Claire Foy plays the queen and Matt Smith her husband prince Philip, because from season three the whole cast will be changed and replaced with older actors in the later years of the queen's life. Returning in November, season two will focus more on the two men in the queen's life, prince Philip and their son Charles.

Sony Pictures has started production on the sequel to popular adventure classic JUMANJI and its lead star Dwayne Johnson has shared first set photos revealing him with the cast and one with him and pop superstar Nick Jonas who also stars. As you can see from the trailer the big focus will be on her marriage to war commander Philip Mountbatten - played by Matt Smith. Set in the aftermath of World War II, the series will also describe her disagreements with Winston Churchill (John Lithgow). The series creator is Peter Morgan who won an Oscar for THE QUEEN with Helen Mirren. Brilliant Stephen Daldry (THE READER, BILLY ELLIOTT) is directing.

We're having a movie set photos day today, people,  beginning with some new pictures and a poster for next year's biggest epic adventure GODS OF EGYPT. One of this year's hottest TV faces and also the hottest  of THE HOBBIT dwarves out there, POLDARK's Aidan Turner has scored a role in dark comedy LOOK AWAY next to Matthew Broderick, Chloë Sevigny, and Shannon Tarbet.  According to 'Deadline' Turner will play the love interest to Tarbet’s main character, an offbeat young woman who is unable to physically see her mother due to a fictional affliction called selective blindness.

'DURRELL'S' PERIOD SET SERIES

Meanwhile, British ITV will turn Gerald Durrell's Corfu memoirs (including MY FAMILY AND OTHER ANIMALS) into THE DURRELLS six part series set in the 1930s and telling the story of Louisa Durrell, whose money is running out and whose four children are going off the rails after the death of her husband.
