Channel 5 has set our dear Emmett Scanlan as the lead of their new six episode series AN IMPOSSIBLE WAY TO DIE with Sharon Rooney playing DS Katie Salter who is happily solving everyday crimes until fate drags her into an impossible murder mystery. Four people sat around a table seemingly set for a dinner party – except they are all dead. The only clue is a scorpion crawling out of one of the victim’s mouth. Salter is not your stereotypical damaged and tormented tv detective. Smart, diligent and committed to her family, tensions quickly surface when Salter is partnered with DI Niall Conway (Emmett J. Scanlan), lead investigator on the case. Salter’s measured, grounded approach clashes with Conway’s all-consuming dedication to the job. Channel 4 has already aired this one over in Britain and I actually finished watching it earlier this week and can tell you that it is probably the best period set series of the year so far, but I wanted to inform you today that it will start streaming for the audiences in USA and Canada on BritBox as of June 24th and you do not want to miss it. With Brenda Blethyn as the lead it is the reboot of A WOMAN OF SUBSTANCE  based on Barbara Taylor Bradford's novel with Jessica Reynolds playing the younger version. We also have first images from their new 6 part thriller THE WIVES. Last year, four sisters-in-law and their families escaped to their Maltese holiday apartments, as they’ve done every summer for 15 years. While you are enjoying his Django series which launched last week, Matthias Schoenaerts has just scored a lead role in LE FAUX SOIR WW2 movie drama according to Screen Daily!  Set in 1943, it tells the story of when the Belgian resistance secretly produced a spoof version of the country’s leading newspaper, Le Soir, which had become a propaganda tool of the occupying Nazi forces. As Variety reports, the ambitious series, which William Boyd is writing and is being co-produced by Ian Benson, will shed light on a counterintelligence program that was launched by the CIA and operated by a secret unit within the American embassy in Paris. Their mission was to infiltrate the literary cafes of the Left Bank in Paris and spy on expat American artists and authors. At that time in the U.S., under the McCarthy era, many authors, especially black and gay ones, were oppressed and jailed. The series will be a modern, glamorous noir thriller laced with a love triangle between a French editor and two American characters.

is Val-El, Seg's grandfather and one of Krypton's greatest scientists, he was instrumental in Krypton's greatest era of scientific progress, before being executed for treason. After a fourteen-year absence, he returns to become a pivotal player in defeating the threat against Krypton.

GEORGINA CAMPBELL
