     'MULAN' TO STREAM

ON DISNEY + FROM SEPTEMBER

When, after numerous delays, Disney decided, earlier this month, to release their live action adaptation of MULAN on their streaming service

Disney + instead of opting for a theatrical release, owners of private cinemas saw in it the sign of their demise (as they saw the film as their only opportunity to save their businesses after the corona shutdowns which left most of them without incomes), and some were appalled to such extent that one of them even took an axe in his hands in order to chop down the big movie banners for the film which were advertising it in his cinema that might be now forced to close due to the lack of films to show and no big blockbuster to bring back audience in front of the big screens. The film was originally meant for March release

on Disney + from September 4th both in USA and UK and all other countries that have their streamer. The audience will, however, have to pay a special premium fee of $30 for streaming which unsettled lots of their regular users (you won't be able to see it just for the price of your regular monthly fee and in most online polls people say they won't purchase the movie for that price). It is also interesting that Disney will still release MULAN in cinemas over in China, where it might even flop since the movie there is seen as a cheap version of their masterfully done epic adventures, which is obvious even from the trailer

I've noticed that the reactions around the web on the first teaser for Disney's live action MULAN don't really speak of excitement and thrill, and I cannot really blame them, the trailer really lacks in splendour or anything remotely

glitzy with really monotonous wide angles. Anyhows, the movie is ready to hit the big screens next March with Yifei Liu in the lead role next to Donnie Yen (as commander Tung), Gong Li (as an evil witch), Jason Scott Lee (as Hun khan Bori), Jet Li (as the emperor) and Yoson An (as Mulan's love interest).

ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY

FINAL TRAILER RELEASED!

Of course, the main news for most movie goers today is the reveal of the final ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY trailer and poster! Starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen and Alan Tyduk, the sf adventure, set in a time of cosmic unrest, will see them playing a group of unlikely heroes who band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction. This prequel which explains how the Rebels got the plans of Death Star, hits cinemas this December and hopefully won't be as dreadfully boring as The Force Awakens (it made us sleep, it did).

In other sf news, the first look of Amber Heard as Mera the queen of Atlantis from JUSTICE LEAGUE movie has been revealed. That one is out November next year, but she will also appear in AQUAMAN with Jason Momoa as his royal wife in the summer 2018.

First of all, people, I expect your congratulations :) because our yesterday's post was actually Hollywood Spy's 3,000th one! Thank you for suffering through so much, so far! Your main treat for today, I'm sure you've already seen it, is the brand new trailer for ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY which arrived earlier today after a couple of previous teasers revealing everybody's favourite villain Darth Vader. The spin off of the popular sf saga should land into theatres December 16th!

ROGUE ONE
follows the Rebels who are trying to get their hands on the plans for the Empire's infamous Death Star. Felicity Jones plays Jyn Erso who leads the mission accompanied by a wayward band of Rebels who are trying to secure the plans so that the Rebel Alliance can destroy the Empire's new, deadly weapon, an armoured space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet. Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, Riz Ahmed are some of the stars playing the Rebels. Mads Mikkelsen plays Jyn's father, who helped building the Death Star.

Certainly the biggest movie event of the day, today, was the release of the first teaser trailer for ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY which takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope! As a spin-off, it goes into new territory, exploring the galactic struggle from a ground-war perspective while maintaining that essential Star Wars feel that fans have come to know. Directed by Gareth Edwards, the movie, out December 16th, stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Riz Ahmed, Alan Tudyk, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Donnie Yen and Wen Jiang!

The movie is set in a period of Civil War. The Rebel's have scored their first major victory against the Galactic Empire after a surprise attack from a hidden base. Starring Michelle Yeoh and Donnie Yen, it will premiere on Netflix next February telling an epic story of lost love, young love, a legendary sword. You can also check out an action packed teaser for the sequel to one of China's most lucrative movies ever THE MONKEY KING 2 (the second movie is also a costy affair with $20 million budget) which arrives to theatres also February with three biggest Asian stars Aaron Kwok as The Monkey King (a role he is taking over from above mentioned Donnie Yen, even though he played another character in the first film), Gong Li as the White Skeleton Demon, Kelly Chen as Goddess of Mercy, and Feng Shaofeng leading the cast of the enchanting epic fantasy with visual effects unseen ever before!

7TH CENTURY CHINA  
Told by an Old Sage, a Western monk who travelled from Europe to China in the 7th Century. He tells the tale to two children, one Chinese, the other from the West who come across the monk in a cave on a remote mountainside above the Eastern Ocean. The monk is the current keeper of a hundred painted scrolls, each describing an event in the Monkey King's life.
