 CASTS AYELET ZURER AS THE LEADER OF THE MOON

Believe it or not, Ayelet is 51!

It is sf all the way today, starting with AMC's new sf series that I mentioned a week ago when Dominic Monaghan was cast in it, but now MOONHAVEN has also cast Ayelet Zurer in the story that follows Bella Sway, a lunar cargo pilot and smuggler 100 years in the future who finds herself accused of a crime and marooned on Moonhaven, a utopian community set on a 500 square mile Garden of Eden built on the Moon to find solutions to the problems that will soon end civilization on Mother Earth. A skeptic in Paradise, Bella is sucked into a conspiracy to gain control of the artificial intelligence responsible for Moonhaven’s miracles and teams with a local detective to stop the forces that want to destroy Earth’s last hope before they are destroyed themselves. Ayelet Zurer will be Maite Voss, the political leader of Moonhaven. Chosen and beloved by its citizens, Maite embodies the lunar mission to save humanity from self destruction. Haunted by a troubled past, she is drawn into a madness that risks the future of Earth.

The Colony will hit cinemas this August

Fehlbaum. The movie which, set in the distant future, follows a female astronaut, shipwrecked on the long decimated Earth, who must decide the fate of the wasteland's remaining populace, will start its roll through cinemas from August and September, first in Germany and Russia. As the official synopsis says: In the not too distant future: after a global catastrophe has wiped out nearly all of humanity on Earth, an elite astronaut from Space Colony Kepler must make a decision that will seal the fate of the people on both planets. The English language movie was shot in Germany as it is a co production between Germany and Switzerland. Check out the trailer below and tell us what you think.

'COLONY' SF TV SHOW

In today's television news, Josh Holloway has won the lead role in new USA Network sf show COLONY from 'Lost' scribe Carlton Cuse. Holloway will play Will Bowman, a former FBI agent trying to protect his family when Los Angeles becomes occupied by outside intruders. With the story set in the near future, the show will see Bowman being forced to collaborate with the occupational government and work to dismantle the burgeoning resistance movement inside the city colony in order to protect his family. Oscar winner Juan Jose Campanella will direct the pilot episode!

AIDAN GILLEN IS VILLAIN IN MAZE RUNNER SEQUEL
In other casting news today, GAME OF THRONES' star Aidan Gillen has joined the sequel to current cinematic hit MAZE RUNNER which will open in exactly a years time. In MAZE RUNNER SCORCH TRIALS he will play a villain called Rat-Man! In the sequel  the teens have escaped the maze and are now on the run in a world turned into a wasteland ravaged by solar flares! In the novels Rat Man is an officer in the enemy organization!
KATHERYN WINNICK JOINS GERARD BUTLER IN 'GEOSTORM'
Meanwhile, another epic TV show star, Katheryn Winnick from VIKINGS has joined Gerard Butler's fantasy action GEOSTORM  in which he will play a man sent into space to prevent climate controlling satellites from creating a cataclysmic storm capable of destroying the planet. Winnick will play Olivia, his ex-wife and the mother of his daughter. Jim Sturgess, Andy Garcia and Abbie Cornish are also in the cast!

JOIN JUDE LAW, NICOLE KIDMAN AND COLIN FIRTH IN 'GENIUS'

Now if this ain't a star studded cast I don't know what is: Deadline reports that Guy Pearce and Dominic West have joined Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth and Laura Liney in GENIUS, in which Pearce will play F.Scott Fitzgerald while West will be Ernest Hemingway! Set in the world of literature, the film will tell the true story of the complex relationship between literary giant Thomas Wolfe (Law) and Scribner’s iconic editor Max Perkins (Firth). Kidman will portray Aline Bernstein and Linney will be Louise Perkins.
