While some of you are enjoying the new television version of The Handmaid's Tale, another of Margaret Atwood's small screen adaptations ALIAS GRACE has just got the first trailer and first photos for the mini series that will launch September 25th at Netflix and CBC in Canada.
A 19TH CENTURY MYSTERY The six part mini series follows Grace Marks (Sarah Gadon) a
poor, young Irish immigrant and domestic servant in Upper Canada who,
along with stable hand James McDermott (Kerr Logan), was
convicted of the brutal
murders of their employer and his housekeeper in 1843. James was hanged
while Grace was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1843. Grace claimed to
have had no memory of the murder yet the facts were irrefutable. A
decade after, Dr. Simon Jordan tried to help Grace recall her past.
Grace was one of the
most enigmatic and notorious women of her time for her supposed role in
the sensational double murder, but was eventually exonerated after 30
years in jail. Her conviction was controversial and sparked much debate
about whether Grace was actually involved in the murder or merely an
unwitting accessory. Zachary Levi is also in the cast alongside Reign's Michael Therriault and Edward Holcroft as the doctor! Atwood has a cameo in the series!

Netflix is to shoot OUTLAW KING epic period drama that will tell a different version than Braveheart did on Robert The Bruce, the king who led his country to freedom from the oppressive rule of England in Scotland. Ben Foster (who proved to be a very bad choice for epic roles with his under whelming performance in Warcraft) is apparently in talks to play James Douglas, the Scottish knight who became the king’s chief adviser. Beside depicting his efforts to gather the forces against Edward II, the movie will have a love story as well between him and his queen Elizabeth de Burgh who gave him strength to push out the English army.

If you wondered what is David Goyer up to after Da Vinci's Demons, he is to executive produce a TV series out of epic fantasy novel saga THE BLACK COMPANY from Glen Cook with Eliza Dushku expected to play the dark sorceress The Lady, as 'Deadline' reports.
The ten book saga follows THE BLACK COMPANY, an elite mercenary unit
that carries out the often nefarious deeds of the highest bidder across a

re-examine their loyalties. The Lady, who rules over the Northern
Empire, uses the Black Company to further her domination of a power

SANDERSON'S 'COSMERE'
TO BE TURNED INTO MOVIES Variety, meanwhile, reports that DMG Entertainment will spend close
to $300 million to turn Brandon Sanderson's COSMERE saga into three
movies! These books are a mixture of science fiction and fantasy, and
they unfold in a number of different worlds and time periods, but are
unified by an intricate system of magic that drives the plots. The team
that wrote Saw is already writing a script for THE WAY OF KINGS, the
first in Sanderson's THE STORMLIGHT ARCHIVE series. Their plan is to
simultaneously adapt the first book of his MISTBORN series as well!
