BBC AND DAVE NICHOLLS TO TURN SUE TOWNSEND'S THE SECRET DIARY OF ADRIAN MOLE AGED 13¾ INTO A TV SERIES

  BBC SERIES ADAPTATION
THE SECRET DIARY OF ADRIAN MOLE
BBC and David Nicholls are set to create a ten episode series out of THE SECRET DIARY OF ADRIAN MOLE AGED 13¾ by Sue Townsend! It’s New Year’s Day 1981 and Adrian starts his uniquely funny diary
The book will be turned into a ten part series
about family life and being a teenager before the advent of mobile phones and social media. With only a multi coloured ballpoint pen as his guide, Adrian worries about his spots, his parents’ divorce, the torment of first love and the fact he’s never seen a female nipple. As Adrian's mother Pauline wrestles with her feminist awakening, his father George struggles with being made redundant in an unforgiving economy. Adrian’s wider world is made up of a host of memorable characters like his 'treacle-haired beloved' Pandora, his take-no-prisoners Grandma and his unlikely friend, the foul-mouthed pensioner Bert Baxter. This vivid portrait of suburban life in Britain shows how much we have changed while staying the same. The result is a timeless family drama that is as warm and funny as it is sad and poignant.

  1. Un adattamento che conserva l’ironia brillante dell’originale, restituendo con freschezza le inquietudini e i sogni del giovane Adrian.

  2. I haven't read the book! Was it any good? It's rather cold here and people have already started putting up the X'mas decoration...saw many of them this morning when we were out for the walk.

    1. I have no idea, I think it was massively popular, but I do not read books for youngsters if I do not have to LOL
We have been hit by a cold front as well, it was well over 20C yesterday and then went down to below 10C over night. We were in hoodies and vests and now in shawls and winter parkas.

  5. I saw a diary in the store the other day and thought "People still write in those?" I know I used to all the time when I was a kid, but it seems nobody wants to keep their lives private these days. They love to put their ever thought online for the world to see LOL

    1. Yes TikTok is the new diary for these new idiotic gens. There are even pornographic diaries on OnlyFans.... where they pretty much share their daily erections with the masses.

    2. I'm starting to question my life choices when I see a 21 year old girl pulling in 85 million dollars a year on OnlyFans. I don't know if I should be impressed or disgusted. But if there weren't a market for porn, I suppose people would keep their privates to themselves.

    3. There is nothing wrong with porn in my book, just with generations who have no intention of contributing to the society but just doing such vain jobs with no effort nor general gain for the world. It is almost parasitic.

  6. I don't have an issue with porn, I just don't watch it myself. If I could make $85 mil in a year, I'd do it too. But nobody wants to see me bumping uglies so I'll remain old and broke LOL. I have no issue with prostitution either. I feel like there is a real need for sex workers and having the government try to regulate human bodies and ban sex work is crazy to me (especially considering how many government officials are caught with hookers or cheating on apps)

    1. I personally would not do it even if I was bloody gorgeous as throughout my life I have always felt I am a type of person who neeeds to have a mission which is beneficial to the society in some way.
