I have to admit that the original film Hagen was almost unwatchable, but maybe the six part series based upon it will be more palatable? THE NIBELUNGS: WAR OF THE KINGDOMS is ready to hit
German RTL + November 6th with out dear Jannis Niewohner in the lead role.

BURGUNDIAN weapons master Hagen von Tronje (Gijs Naber) holds the
crisis-ridden kingdom together with a sense of duty and iron
determination. In doing so, he suppresses his secret love for the king's
daughter Kriemhild (Lilja van der Zwaag) and represses his own dark
past. When the famous dragon slayer Siegfried von Xanten (Jannis
Niewöhner) appears in Worms and threatens the old structures with his
unpredictability, Hagen increasingly becomes a tragic figure.The young
King Gunter (Dominic Marcus Singer), still inexperienced due to the
sudden
death of his father, sees in Siegfried a chance to save the
kingdom. He asks him for help in marrying the dangerous Valkyrie
Brunhild (Rosalinde Mynster). When Kriemhild falls in love
with Hagen's adversary Siegfried, he must choose between love and
loyalty to the king. In the process, Hagen von Tronje will discover who
he truly is.
