BRIAN AND MARGARET
FIRST LOOK FROM NEW TV SERIES
Channel 4 will release it sometime next year, but we have the first images from their two part mini series BRIAN AND MARGARET by Stephen Frears, which features Steve Coogan as Brian Walden, the much feared inquisitor and Harriet Walter as prime minister Margaret Thatcher. The series is based on Rob Burley’s book Why is This Lying Bastard Lying to Me?: Searching for the Truth on Political TV.
THE STORY OF THE SERIES IS SET
in
1989. When Brian and Margaret came together for their last ever TV
interview, little did they know they were about to embark on one of the
most famous political exchanges of all time. The 45-minute showdown
became a national talking point and set in train a series of events that
ended with Margaret’s resignation. Afterwards, they never spoke again…
Not sure they got the right one to play Margaret Thatcher...
ReplyDeleteAgreed, does not look at all like her, there are actresses who are more similar.
DeleteNo she doesn't look much like MT. Sometimes an actor/actress can carry it off if he/she can get the essence of someone's character. The late impersonator/comedienne Janet Brown could carry off a cracking MT but alas she's no longer with us.
ReplyDeleteAnd Harriet is such a very specific actress, not a chameleon type at all.
DeleteGuess the auditioning pool was running thin the day they did the casting, eh?
ReplyDeleteIt is very weird.
