Something historical for you today: the first trailer and character pictures for new historical mini series THE DOVEKEEPERS a four hour TV event from BIBLE's and A.D.'s Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, which will be broadcast March 31 and April 1, 2015 at CBS! The project stars Cote de Pablo, Rachel Brosnahan and Kathryn Prescott in the title DOVEKEEPER roles, Sam Neill as first century Jewish scholar and historian Josephus, and Diego Boneta as a star warrior of the Jewish army at Masada. The series is based on Alice Hoffman's bestselling, critically acclaimed historical novel about a group of extraordinary women whose lives intersect in a fight for survival at the siege of Masada.

Set in ancient Israel, THE DOVEKEEPERS is based on the true events at Masada in 70 C.E. After being forced out of their home in Jerusalem by the Romans, 900 Jews were ensconced in a fortress at Masada, a mountain in the Judean desert. Besieged at Masada, the Jews held out for months against the vast Roman armies. The project will recount the events from the perspective of a few extraordinary women who arrive at Masada with unique backstories, but a common bond for survival. In TV news today, beside the info that E! has renewed their first scripted series THE ROYALS with Elizabeth Hurley for the second season eventhough the first one is yet to premiere on March 15th, SyFy has announced their work on SPIN six hour mini series an adaptation of Robert Charles Wilson’s award winning sf novel which will centre on a young scientist trying to save humanity from the impending apocalypse of a mysterious, impenetrable cloud that has enveloped the entire Earth, blacking out the stars, the moon and the sun.

Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by James Patterson, ZOO is a global thriller about a wave of violent animal attacks against humans across the planet. As the assaults become more cunning, coordinated and ferocious, a young renegade biologist, Jackson Oz (James Wolk), is thrust into the race to unlock the pandemic’s mystery before there’s no place left for people to hide. Kristen Connolly plays Jamie, a passionate young journalist intent on uncovering the story behind the mysterious animal behaviour she’s been tracking. In other television news, new addition to the cast of mega popular zombie apocalypse series THE WALKING DEAD is Ross Marquand who will join the survivors in the upcoming second part of the fifth season which returns in February. Current speculations are that he will play gay character Aaron who meets up with Rick and his group on their way to Washington and convinces them to join the walled-off Alexandria Safe-Zone.

We did lost track of the casting process for BEN HUR remake after the choices have turned out to be rather bland, but now they have a very interesting choice for the role of Jesus: according to 'The Hollywood Reporter' 300's Persian Emperor Xerxes Rodrigo Santoro could take the role! The epic drama will follow Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince in Jerusalem who is betrayed and sold into slavery. The story of his redemption runs parallel to the life and crucifixion of Jesus!. Morgan Freeman will be Ildarin who teaches BEN HUR how to drive chariots, Sofia Black D'Elia will play Ben-Hur's sister Tirzah, Toby Kebbell is Messala who sells him to slavery, HOMELAND's Nazanin Boniadi is BEN HUR's love interest Esther, while GAME OF THRONES' star Pedro Pascal is Pontius Pilate.

In TV news, first info is that LORD OF THE RINGS star John Rhys Davies has joined SHANNARA epic fantasy series in which he will play King Eventine, Amberle’s (Poppy Drayton) grandfather, who has ruled the Elvin kingdom of Arborlon for decades!
NOAH REID IS 'KEVIN FROM WORK'
Over at ABC Family they have found lead stars for their two new sitcoms. First up is KEVIN FROM WORK in which  Noah Reid will play Kevin, an adorable but lonely young man unlucky in love who professes his love to his beautiful and quirky co-worker Audrey (Paige Spara), thinking he’ll never see her again after he accepts a job offer overseas. But then that job offer is rescinded and now they have to continue to work with each other. Matt Murray will be his best friend and confidant who is also a bit of a prankster; he’s always giving Kevin the not smartest advice.
SHOSHANA BUSH IS 'TOUGH COOKIE'
The other one is TOUGH COOKIE centring around a young mother who isn’t ready to parent and her daughter who doesn’t want to be parented. Shoshana Bush will play the lead role of Lilla, a strong-willed, successful publicist who got pregnant at a young age by a man she loved who dumped her, and she gave her baby girl up for adoption so she wouldn’t have to be reminded of him ever again. Now, she learns that her daughter, Eleanor, is slated for another round of foster care unless Lilla gives her a chance in a three-day trial that neither of them is looking forward to. Definitely not mother material, Lilla is shocked to see so much of herself in the outspoken, confident, take-no-prisoners Eleanor, and to her surprise, she doesn’t want Eleanor to go. Arturo del Purto will be Mickey, one of Lilla’s roommates, a neurotic hipster and something of a neat freak.

Beside shinning at the theatres, Hugh Jackman has just added another new big screen role. As 'The Daily Mail' writes, he will star in Olympic biopic EDDIE THE EAGLE the true story of Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards, the first British ski jumper in Olympic history. Although he took last place in both of his ski jumping events at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, EDDIE THE EAGLE Edwards became a media sensation. Hugh Jackman will play Chuck Berghorn, a ski jumping expert from Lake Placid who helps Eddie train for the Calgary Olympics, while Taron Egerton has won the lead role in a competitive audition with other young stars. Set in 1908 Greenland, it is based on the true story of Arctic  adventurer Robert Peary (Gabriel Byrne) and the two women - Josephine Peary (Juliette Binoche) and Allaka (Rinko Kikuchi) - who love him. They find themselves drawn together as they await his return on a frozen and inhospitable landscape.

In today's movie news, the upcoming Disney's big screen remake of 1977's children movie PETE'S DRAGON has added new names to its cast according to 'Variety': DEXTER's Michael C. Hall and Wes Bentley are the latest to join Robert Redford and Bryce Dallas Howard in the film in which newcomer Oakes Fegley plays little Pete whose best friend happens to be a dragon with whom he lives in a forest after his parents died in a car accident. Robert Redford will be playing a local resident who tells tales of dragons that no one in town believes, and Bryce might play his daughter! Oona Laurence will play the daughter of a mill owner, while the other characters will include a forest ranger who finds young Pete, the mill owner and his greedy brother.

So, tell me people, how did you like Golden Globes 2015 awards last night? Boring as always, yes? No? How did you like the fashion? If you ask me, the fashion wasn't impressive this year for some reason!
THE BEST DRESSED
Although nobody has really wowed me, two of the best dressed ladies were, ironically the two actresses I personally don't like much -  Jessica Chastain in glamorous dark bronze and Anna Kendrick in magical organza.
LADIES IN RED
The ladies in red were also looking lovely, especially Allison Williams and Viola Davis, and while it was beautiful seeing Catherine Zeta  Jones shinning again at the red carpet, Heidi Klum brought hotness in sexy Versaci.
LADIES IN WHITE
Kate Hudson also looked sexy in Versaci while the other ladies opting for white, Emily Blunt, Salma Hayek and Reese Witherspoon all  looked sleek and pristine. Also opting for light beige shades were Chrissy Teigen, Jennifer Lopez and Kate Beckinsale in sparkly Ellie Saab.
LADIES IN BLUE
When it comes to the ladies wearing blue last night, I think only Amy Adams managed to pull it of with elegance, while Felicity Jones, Katherine Heigl and Julianne Moore didn't really amaze us.
THE WORST DRESSED
No surprises in the worst dressed category which was again mostly ruled by the same ladies that lack style every year: Lena Dunham, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Juliana Margulies looked clumsy in their unflattering dresses, while Keira Knightley and Claire Danes looked almost ridiculous.

Look what I have dug out for you today: first photos from the sets of Spike TV's upcoming new historical mini series TUT on Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun! To air sometime later this year, the epic six hour mini series will have the story revolving around Tutankhamun, aka King TUT (who reigned c. 1333 to 1323 BC), the youngest Pharaoh to rule Ancient Egypt, whose famous golden sarcophagus has become one of the symbols of the ancient civilization. Young actor Avan Jogia is playing the lead role of King TUT, while legendary star Ben Kingsley will be Ay, the Grand Vizier to King Tutankhamun, who wields tremendous power and influence as the top advisor to the young Egyptian ruler.

The biggest and the most ambitious project in Spike TV's history, TUT will also have DRACULA's and GAME OF THRONES' Nonso Anozie portraying the savvy military, yet power hungry, strategist General Horemheb. TYRANT's Sibylla Deen plays Ankhe, the calculating and conniving sister-wife of King Tutankhamun. We're having an international edition today, people, sharing updates on some foreign projects and stars: the first info coming from the big screen adaptation of David Ebbershof's THE DANISH GIRL which just hired Belgian star Matthias Schoenaerts next to Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander. To be helmed by Tom Hooper (THE KING'S SPEECH, LES MISERABLES) the movie is a love story about Danish painters Einar Wegener and his wife Gerda. In 1930, Wegener was one of the first men ever to undergo operations to become a woman. This is a busy year for Schoenaerts who has three period dramas coming out FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD with Tom Sturridge and Carey Muligan, SUITE FRANCAISE with Michelle Williams and A LITTLE CHAOS with Kate Winslet.

'ALI & NINO' EPIC MOVIE DRAMA

Another historical drama I've announced before has revealed its leading stars: Asif Kapadia’s (Senna) big screen adaptation of Kurban Said’s best selling Azerbaijan set novel about two star-crossed lovers ALI AND NINO will have Spanish actress Maria Valverde (EXODUS GODS AND KINGS) and Israeli actor Adam Bakri in the titular roles according to 'Deadline'. The story begins in the melting pot of Baku at the turn of the 20th century. Ali is a Muslim, with his warrior ancestors’ passion for the desert; and Nino is a Christian Georgian girl with sophisticated European ways. The childhood sweethearts find their lives interrupted when WW1 breaks out and Baku’s oil becomes the focus of  the fight for power. As the war plays out and control of the Caucuses changes hands, Ali and Nino find themselves swept up in Azerbaijan’s fight for independence.

TADANOBU ASANO JOINS

Meanwhile, Japanese star Tadanobu Asano (THOR, MONGOL, 47 RONIN) has replaced Ken Watanabe as the lead actor in Martin Scorsese's SILENCE.  Andrew Garfield, Liam Neeson, and Adam Driver are already in the cast! Tadanobu will portray an interpreter who accompanies two Jesuit priests (Garfield and Driver) as they face violence and persecution while searching for their mentor (Neeson) who went to 17th Century Japan to spread the gospel of Christianity. There they witness the persecution of Japanese Christians at the hands of their own government which wishes to purge Japan of all western influence.

TOM BATEMAN AND RICHARD E. GRANT LEADING THE CAST

A few months ago I've told you that British ITV is planning a new JEKYLL AND HYDE TV series and now the cast has been officially announced: the ten episode adventure drama will star Tom Bateman (Da Vinci's Demons), Richard E. Grant and Natalie Gumede. In the series set in 1930s London and focusing on the grandson of the doctor featured in the classic story, Bateman will portray the role of Robert Jekyll, Grant will play Sir Roger Bulstrode who heads the secret government department M10, and Gumede will star as Bella who is in a love triangle with them. Dr Jekyll is a young, sensitive and naïve man of intellect and morality, well meaning and somewhat repressed. He transforms into Hyde in moments of extreme anger, stress and when his or the lives of others are threatened. And Hyde is a totally different person: a superhero with super powers, great strength, speed and invulnerability. He is confident, and risk-taking.

In other television news, 'Deadline' reports that Matt Bomer will headline HBO's new biopic on MONTGOMERY CLIFT reteaming with the channel after receiving Emmy and Globe nomination for the role in THE NORMAL HEART. At his prime, Clift rivalled Marlon Brando and James Dean as Hollywood’s biggest male stars! Clift also was the first Hollywood actor to refuse to sign a studio contract, choosing independence instead. His matinee idol good looks were destroyed by a devastating car accident that left him with a broken nose and partially paralysed face. Though he continued to make movies, the accident haunted him until his death, even though he received an Oscar nomination, his fourth, for one of his last performances in 'Judgment At Nuremberg'. He also struggled with his sexual orientation and resorted to alcohol and drug addition following the accident.

As the new guy at work, Jerry is asked to help plan the company picnic, and he meets Fiona, an attractive English girl from accounting. He will play  Mark Mardon, the brother of Clyde Mardon (Chad Rook), who appeared as the Weather Wizard in the series premiere. Mark returns to Central City to get justice for his brother’s untimely death and uses his powers, similar to Clyde’s, to go on a rampage and find the man that shot Clyde.
