After our visit yesterday to Belgium in our weekend of new international TV series (I will take you to Russia tomorrow) we are today over in France with

fantasy series set in First World War THE SENTINELS which will air in France on Canal + September 29th. I reported on the series during the London Screenings back in February, but now we have a trailer. 

 

 WHAT IS THE STORY? 

On a WW1 battlefield French Private Gabriel (Louis Peres) is wounded. His family is told he is dead. In fact, he has been chosen to be part of a secret research program to create a new kind of soldier. Inoculated with a mysterious serum, when he awakens, Gabriel is stronger and faster than a normal human. He is recruited into The Sentinels, a band of elite fighters. Based on the Xavier Dorison and Enrique Breccia graphic novels, the French-language drama will air in eight episodes.

I have first images from a historical movie that is currently in post production for you today: THE FALLOW FEW which is both written and directed by JR Rappaport, who helms it as his directorial debut, starring our dearest Bradley James in a moving story set during the nightmares of the First World War. Tony Robinson, Louis Davison, Ashleigh Reynolds, Christopher Bonwell, Viktor Ilic also star in this moving war movie. We have not seen Bradley in anything since his short stint in Vikings: Valhalla series season two, so it will be nice to see him again at least on the big screen as he has nothing else set in his list of the upcoming roles.

  WHAT IS THE STORY OF THE MOVIE?

Based on a harrowing true story the movie has the story set in the cold days of December, 1916 over at the Western Front. A disillusioned soldier, tasked with guarding British deserters on death row, disobeys his superiors to save his latest charge's life at the eleventh hour.

A new adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's seminal classic FAREWELL TO ARMS is in works under the helm of legendary Michael Winterbottom and it seems he has already found his lead in Billy the Kid star Tom Blyth. He will play volunteer ambulance driver Frederic Henry, who is wounded and falls in love with his nurse in Italy during World War One in the movie inspired by Hemingway’s own experiences as a volunteer ambulance driver with the Italian Army on the Isonzo Front. It is yet to be revealed who will take the female lead.

are launching 2023 with WOMEN AT WAR (Les Combattantes) as the first series of that genre coming to us this year from France. The eight part historical drama actually already aired in France and the French speaking countries last Autumn, but the audience around the world will be able to watch it from January 19th, which is next Thursday, when it starts streaming over at Netflix! Tcheky Karyo, Tom Leeb, Yannick Choirat, Vincent Rottiers also star in the series beside the female leads mentioned below who play four women during World War I: a nun, a feminist nurse, a prostitute, and a widow turned factory boss. As usual Netflix did not deem it fit to issue posters or a trailer for a foreign series, but I found you one with English subtitles below:
