ITV ORDERS A SIX PART HISTORICAL SERIES MAJESTY ON THE YOUTH OF QUEEN ELIZABETH I

  MAJESTY EPIC DRAMA
FROM ITV ON QUEEN ELIZABETH I
Although the previous effort was godawful (the unwatchable Becoming Elizabeth from Starz with atrociously bad lead actress, dreary visuals and no story) we will see old Bess again on the small screens, or, to be more precise, not old but young as Grey’s Anatomy showrunners Joan Rater, Tony Phelan and William Harper are creating a six episode historical series MAJESTY for ITV. It will present a reimagination of the life of a young Elizabeth I and her place in the court of King Henry VIII, based on conspiracy theories which surrounded her as a young woman. Was the Virgin Queen hiding a profound secret? And how did this overlooked, embattled princess become the most powerful ruler England has ever known? James Strong will be helming the drama next year with Studiocanal handling the international distribution.

SEE FIRST TRAILER FOR HISTORY DISTORTING COSTUME DRAMA MY LADY JANE ARRIVING TO PRIME VIDEO THIS SUMMER

   MY LADY JANE SERIES
S
The series is out this June
EE THE HISTORY DISTORTING TRAILER
And not just for the blackwashing but they literally distort what really happened and change the ending in MY LADE JANE new costume TV series, could be a parody as well, which will hit Prime Video this summer June 27th based on a book by Cynthia Hand. It is sort of a fantasy drama as in it Jane Gray is not beheaded and actually becomes the queen of England. You can catch the first trailer below the post. You can also check out the first poster which is probably one of the ugliest posters we have had the displeasure to see in our lives. Such atrocity!
 IT IS BASICALLY: FUCK HISTORY!
Gird your loins for the tragic tale of Lady Jane Grey, the young Tudor noblewoman who was Queen of England for nine days and then beheaded in 1553... F*ck that. We're retelling history the way it should have happened: the damsel in distress saves herself. This is an epic tale of true love and high adventure set in an alt-universe of action, history, fantasy, comedy, romance, and rompy-pompy. Buckle up.

WHO IS AT THE ROYAL COURT?
At the centre of the series is the brilliant and headstrong Jane, played by Emily Bader, who is unexpectedly crowned queen overnight and finds herself the target of nefarious villains coming for the crown (and her head) in an epic tale of true love and high adventure, where the damsel in distress saves herself, her true love and then the Kingdom. Edward Bluemel stars as Guildford Dudley her future husband and Jordan Peters as King Edward. Dominic Cooper plays Lord Seymour, Anna Chancellor plays Jane’s mother, Lady Frances Grey, and Rob Brydon plays Lord Dudley, Guildford’s father. Jim Broadbent plays the Duke of Leicester, Jane’s uncle. Additional cast includes Henry Ashton as Guildford’s brother, Stan, and Isabella Brownson and Robyn Betteridge as Jane’s sisters. Kate O’Flynn and Abbie Hern portray the King’s sisters Princess Mary and Princess Bess. Máiréad Tyers, Joe Klocek and Michael Workeye also appear.

SEE JUDE LAW AND ALICIA VIKANDER AS HENRY VIII AND HIS LAST WIFE IN FIREBRAND HISTORICAL MOVIE TRAILER

   FIREBRAND TRAILER
WITH JUDE LAW AND ALICIA VIKANDER
Well, this one is finally coming to the cinemas June 14th so we have received the first trailer for FIREBRAND historical movie drama with Jude Law as King Henry VIII and Alicia Vikander as his last wife Katherine Parr. The film that also stars Amr Waked, Eddie Marsan, Simon Russell Beale, Sam Riley and Patsy Ferran, did not receive well criticism after it's festival run, but we will judge for ourselves. Check out the trailer below and tell us what you think, is it lacking in fire and spark like the critics say? The film did have a rather long way to theatres from changing the lead actress to changing the title.

IN BLOOD SOAKED TUDOR ENGLAND
twice married, accomplished, and educated Katherine Parr (Vikander), reluctantly agrees to become the sixth wife of the tyrannical King Henry VIII (Law). Her consent to marry him carries great personal risk, given that her predecessors are either vanquished, beheaded, or dead. When Henry appoints her as Regent, the nation’s ruler during his absence when he departs to fight overseas, he lays a dangerous path for her. Henry’s courtiers, suspecting she’s sympathetic to radical Protestant beliefs that have taken root in the kingdom and are a threat to their power, scheme against her and cast doubts upon her fidelity to the increasingly ailing and paranoid King. Once Henry returns to England, his courtiers convince him to turn his fury on the nation’s radicals, including Katherine’s childhood friend Anne Askew, who becomes one of the scores of people convicted of treason and burned at the stake. Horrified and privately grieving, Katherine finds herself under ever-increasing scrutiny and suspicion. Knowing that even a whisper of scandal might lead to her downfall, Katherine must unleash her own scheme to fight for survival.

PREMIUM SPOTLIGHT ON DISNEY PLUS HISTORICAL MINI TV SERIES SHARDLAKE WITH ARTHUR HUGHES, SEAN BEAN AND ANTHONY BOYLE! AIR DATE AND TRAILER

 SHARDLAKE AIRDATE IS HERE
FOR DISNEY'S NEW EPIC MINI TV SERIES
Disney Plus has graced us with the new trailer and streaming launch date (May 1st) for their and Hulu's historical mystery series SHARDLAKE which,
Shardlake starts this May on Disney Plus
based on the best-selling novels by CJ Sansom, sees lovely Arthur Hughes playing Matthew Shardlake, a lawyer with an acute sense of justice and one of the few honest men in a world beset with scheming and plots. Shardlake works for Thomas Cromwell (Sean Bean) the dangerous and all-powerful right-hand man to Henry VIII.

 STORY OF SHARDLAKE SERIES
Despite Shardlake’s unwavering loyalty to Cromwell and the Crown, his position in society is unfavoured due to his appearance, as a person living with scoliosis during the Tudor period, suffering the indignity of being abused as a “crookback” wherever he turns. Anthony Boyle plays the cocky and good-looking Jack Barak, who leaves Shardlake unsure of whether he is an assistant, or Cromwell’s spy. Drenched in mystery, suspense and deception, this four-part drama, is an eerie whodunnit adventure, set in 16th century England during the dissolution of the monasteries. Shardlake’s sheltered life as a lawyer is turned upside down when Cromwell instructs him to investigate the murder of one of his commissioners at a monastery in the remote town of Scarnsea. The commissioner was gathering evidence to close the monastery and it is now imperative for Cromwell’s own political survival that Shardlake both solves the murder and closes the monastery. He leaves Shardlake in no doubt that failure is not an option. Cromwell insists that he is accompanied by Jack Barak to Scarnsea, where the duo are met with hostility, suspicion and paranoia by the monks who fear for their future and will seemingly stop at nothing to preserve their order. Check out the new trailer below:
