The Reunion is happening next week!

sitcom FRIENDS is coming back but not for a scripted return: it will just be a reunion with actors reminiscing on the beautiful years they've spent shooting world's most popular show ever. HBO Max will air THE REUNION May 27th and Sky, which aired the show back in the days, over in UK. In Canada it will stream on Crave and Foxtel, on Binge in Australia, and on HBO cable channels in Europe. Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer will go back together to Friends’ original Burbank studio. People who created Friends and served as their executive producers Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman, and David Crane will also be back behind the cameras.

He has just joined a new Netflix comedy movie MURDER MUSTERY which already has Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler who plays a New York cop who finally takes his wife (Jennifer Aniston) on a long promised European trip. But a chance meeting on the flight with a mysterious man (Luke Evans) gets them invited to an intimate family gathering on the super yacht of elderly billionaire Malcolm Quince. When Quince is murdered, the couple become the prime suspects in a modern day whodunit.

FINDS HER LOVE INTEREST!

Speaking of castings, Disney's live action MULAN has found her love interest! As 'Deadline' reports today New Zealand native Yoson An (you will watch him this year in Jason Statham's The Meg and Peter Jackson's Mortal Engines) has joined Disney’s live-action MULAN film as her love interest, Chen Honghui, a military recruit. As I've informed you earlier Liu Yifei is playing the title character with Jet Li, Gong Li, Ron Yuan, and Donnie Yen already in the cast!

Just as the famous animated version from 1998 the live action movie will also be based on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, following the rise of Mulan during the Han Dynasty when the daughter of a legendary warrior impersonates a man to fight against a Hun invasion. The pic ain't coming out any time soon, though, as the release has been set for March 2020!

I haven't seen her in quite a long time, but 90's German movie star Franka Potente (RUN, LOLA, RUN) has just joined Tom Hardy's Victorian series TABOO which, set in 1814,  follows James Keziah Delaney (Tom Hardy), a man who has been to the ends of the earth and comes back irrevocably changed. Believed to be long dead, he returns home to London from Africa to inherit what is left of his father’s shipping empire and rebuild a life for himself. But his father’s legacy is a poisoned chalice, and with enemies lurking in every dark corner, James must navigate increasingly complex territories to avoid his own death sentence. Franka Potente will play Helga, a business minded madam who shares a history with James.

Meanwhile, something for the ladies, ex Disney star and now a sex symbol Gregg Sulkin will lead comedy movie STATUS UPDATE  in which he will play Josh, a five star high school quarterback who wants to be a journalist. When he writes an article about his social experiment of changing his Facebook status from “single” to “interested in men,” a fellow male student with a crush on him creates a tribute video to “Josh the Gay Quarterback” that goes viral. The media picks it up, and Josh becomes a hero to gay teens. As his relationships get tested, can he keep the secret that he’s straight?

Female stars news, today,  people: beside the news of Sandra Bullock possibly leading an all female version of OCEAN'S ELEVEN, there's yet another movie adaptation to announce: as 'The Hollywood Reporter' writes today, Jennifer Aniston will lead the cast in the movie version of Liane Moriarty's WHAT ALICE FORGOT bestselling book over at TriStar. She is set to play Alice, a 40-year-old who suffers head trauma at the gym and awakens believing that she is still 25 and that her life is far better than it actually is. She thinks she's 25, in love with her husband and her career and pregnant with her first child, but instead she's a mother of three who is about to get divorced and her life's different.

Meanwhile, another Hollywood lady, Nicole Kidman is said to have taken the lead role in Adrian Lyne's new movie SILENT WIFE, his first one after 2002's UNFAITHFUL with Diane Lane! Again, it will be a big screen adaptation of a book, this time of based on the bestselling 2013 A.S.A. Harrison novel of the same name, in which, as 'Deadline' reports, the story revolves around a husband who starts an affair with the early 20ish daughter of his best friend. That’s dangerous enough, but the least of his worries. His wife (Kidman) discovers the affair, and plots his murder.

As Deadline reports today our most favourite actress of all times, gorgeous and ultra talented Oscar winner and Australian thespian Cate Blanchett is to start directing for the small screens. She will helm STATELESS immigration TV series based on shocking real events around the tragic story of Cornelia Rau, a young German Australian woman who escaped a frightening cult only to be trapped in a bizarre labyrinth of Australian psychiatric and legal systems. Cate Blanchett has directed a number of plays in Australia together with her husband and is also planning to direct a movie. She will play a lesbian lady in period set movie CAROL this December, then a news anchor in TRUTH next to Topher Grace and Robert Redford, and in 2017 she will lend her voice to snake Kaa in the live action version of JUNGLE BOOK with Christian Bale and Benedict Cumberbatch.

In other television news, Amazon has found their lead actor for period set series pilot ZELDA in young Gavin Stenhouse who will play F. Scott Fitzgerald next to Christina Ricci who is playing the title role of his insane wife. The series will focus on the wife of the famous writer of THE GREAT GATSBY. She was an embodiment of the 1920s lifestyle that revolved around drinking, jazz and defying traditional culture! She was also a writer, working on essays for magazines, short stories and she penned her own novel "Save Me the Waltz." Because of her schizophrenia and mental instability she spent last years of her life in mental hospitals and she died burnt alive when one of them caught fire while she was locked in it.

Meanwhile, as it is now a custom at least once each year, we are getting a romantic star studded omnibus movie in 2016 as well! As 'Deadline' writes today, Open Road Films has picked up American rights to Garry Marshall’s MOTHER'S DAY, the latest in the director’s holiday movie series which includes NEW YEAR'S EVE and VALENTINE'S DAY. The film, which has an ensemble cast including Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Jason Sudeikis, Julia Roberts, follows the lives of several mothers leading up to the title holiday! The movie will be released at the end of next April. We might expect new names in the cast announced soon since shooting begins next month in Atlanta.

In TV news today, ABC's midseason new historical series OF KINGS AND PROPHETS has added Jeanine Mason to the cast which is currently undergoing changes. The series is an epic Biblical saga of faith, ambition and betrayal as told through the eyes of a battle weary king, a powerful and resentful prophet and a resourceful young shepherd on a collision course with destiny. Jeanine Mason will play Merav, the eldest daughter of King Saul (Ray Winstone) and Queen Ahinoam (Simone Kessell), and sister of Michal (Maisie Richardson Sellers). Nathaniel Parker has recently joined the cast as Achish, the King of Philistia! A new director Michael Offer has been brought to reshoot the entire pilot episode!

  NEW MOVIE ADAPTATION 

ERIC JAGER'S 'THE LAST DUEL'
Speaking of epic news, 'Deadline' reports that Shaun Grant will adapt Eric Jager's historical novel THE LAST DUEL into a movie. The "Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" helmer Francis Lawrence is attached to direct the true story of a duel in 1386 between knights Jean de Carrouges and Jacques Le Gris. It was the final duel sanctioned by the French government, ruled at the time by King Charles VI.

Tones of TV news for you  today, people, starting with two Oscar winning blonds Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon who will star together in BIG LITTLE LIES HBO mini series. According to 'The Hollywood Reporter' the two of them will also produce, through their production companies, this small screen adaptation of Liane Moriarty's bestselling novel about three kindergarten mothers  whose seemingly perfect lives unravel to a murder mystery that takes place during a disastrous parents' night at an elementary school fund raiser.

AMC 'BADLANDS' SERIES

MARTIAL ARTS EPIC ADVEN- TURE
Deadline reports that David Dobkin has been hired by AMC to direct their new fantasy series BADLANDS!  Emily Beecham (28 Weeks Later), Sarah Bolger (The Tudors) and Oliver Stark (The Curse Of The Midas Box) have been cast as regulars. The six episode series is described as a genre bending martial arts series very loosely based on the classic Chinese tale “Journey to the West.” In a land controlled by feudal barons, it tells the story of a great warrior and a young boy who embark on a journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment. Emily Beecham plays The Widow, a regal beauty and a cunning strategist with extravagant, high fashion taste who has gained power the old fashioned way – she’s spilled blood for it. Sarah Bolger plays Jade, a porcelain beauty who masks her ambition with fragile innocence. Oliver Stark plays the warrior’s son Ryer who has not lived up to his father’s expectations.

After days of enchanting fantasy trailers, here's a grimmer one today: Jennifer Aniston's drama CAKE in which she gives, possibly Oscar worthy, portrayal of a woman who suffers from chronic pain and who begins to investigate the suicide of a fellow group member, Nina (Anna Kendrick) whom she barely knew but she keeps appearing in her dreams! These questions give her a new-found, if slightly disturbing, sense of purpose, and she unapologetically inserts herself into the lives of the husband (Sam Worthington) and son Nina left behind. But her search for answers will yield wholly unexpected results!
