Channel 5 has announced work on new six episode series adaptation of Louise Candlish novel THE HEIGHTS with Anna Friel as lead. She plays Ellen, who is happily living in London, a working mum, devoted to her family and fiercely protective of her children. But when her teenage son Lucas (Kit Redding), brings new friend Kieran (Conrad Khan) home, cracks began to appear in Ellen’s family life. Kieran is rude, reckless and manipulative – leading Lucas astray, wasting his promise. As Lucas falls deeper under Kieran’s influence, Ellen becomes increasingly desperate to protect him — but a devastating tragedy leaves her consumed by grief, rage and a growing obsession with the truth. Jumping between the past and present day, family secrets and lies unravel in this thrilling new series.

Arriving to BBC Two this Thursday July 24th is their new drama UNFORGIVABLE which, set and filmed in Liverpool, examines the extensive ripple effect of abuse from multiple perspectives and how those involved can try to move forwards in the midst of the devastation. The fictional drama centres around the Mitchell family who are dealing with the devastating aftermath of an act of abuse perpetrated by a member of their own family. Having served his prison sentence, Joe (Bobby Schofield)  arrives at St Maura's, an institution which offers him a home and rehabilitation after his release. With the support of Katherine (Anna Maxwell Martin), an ex-nun, Joe undertakes therapy sessions in the hope of understanding what led him to commit the abuse. Simultaneously, his sister,  Anna (Anna Friel), is dealing with the enormous impact that Joe's crime has had on her family - her sons, Tom (Austin Haynes) and Peter (Finn McParland), and her father, Brian (David Threlfall).

TRANSGENDER MOVIE UNVEILS CAST

A movie about a groundbreaking British trans marriage case HEAR ME ROAR has added Christopher Eccleston, Anna Friel and Emma Thompson. It tells the story of Elizabeth Bellinger (Rebecca Root), who became one of the few transgender people in Britain to get married in the 1980s. She kept this ceremony secret from almost everyone until 2000 when she launched a campaign to have her marriage to Michael Bellinger (Christopher Eccleston) legally recognized and the case went to the courts. The drama starts with her meeting with barrister Ashley Bayston (Anna Friel) and follows the resulting complex legal obstacle course they undertook over the next three years. Thompson will play the judge. Julian Ovenden also star.
