STUNNING "DREDD" TRAILER WITH KARL URBAN! HILARIOUS NEW TRAILER FOR "HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA"! DREAMWORKS' "HAPPY SMEKDAY"!

Your main treat for today is the long awaited trailer for sf action DREDD, the remake of famous sf hit from the 90's with Sylvester Stallone. Ready to hit cinemas this September DREDD takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (amazing Kiwi star Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot - if necessary. The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Peter Travis bring DREDD to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral
incarnation from the revered comic strip. GAME OF THRONES Lena Headey takes the main villain role of a woman which rules the underground.
 HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
I've mentioned some animated films yesterday, and here are some more: DreamWorks is working on HAPPY SMEKDAY! a new animated movie in which an alien race invades Earth and uses it as a hideout from their mortal enemy. When one lowly alien accidentally notifies the enemies of his whereabouts, he is forced to go on the run with a teenage girl. The two become unlikely buddies and embark on a comical globe-trotting adventure to right his wrongs, in which our alien hero learns what it really means to be human. Jim Parsons (BIG BANG THEORY) and that horrid pop tart Rihanna will take the lead voice roles.

HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA
And yet another film to open up in cinemas this September will be animated movie HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA for which I have the
third trailer. The Hotel Transylvania is Dracula's (Adam Sandler) lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free from meddling from the human world. But here's a little known fact about Dracula: he is not only the Prince of Darkness; he is also a dad. Over-protective of his teenage daughter, Mavis (Selena Gomez), Dracula fabricates tales of elaborate dangers to dissuade her adventurous spirit. As a haven for Mavis, he opens the Hotel Transylvania, where his daughter and some of the world's most famous monsters – Frankenstein and his bride, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more – can kick back in safety and peace. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary
monsters is no problem – but his world could come crashing down when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis. The cast also includes Fran Drescher, David Spade, Kevin James, Steve Buscemi....

  1. Dredd looks pretty action packed; I'll have to look at the Stallone one first and then compare the two :)

  3. I'm not familiar with the original DREDD but this remake may be promising. If anything, that's a kick-ass trailer! :)

I still don't know if I would go see it in theaters tho...maybe if I was hanging out with a bunch of friends and they wanted something fun to do. From the looks of this remake, however, it seems like this is the summer for actresses....a lot of strong leading women roles have been out since earlier this year. It's a surprising trend, since the superheroes, action stars and general leading heroic characters are usually men.

    1. we really do like the trailer :) It's a shame they gave the female role to very weak Olivia Thirlby, Karl Urban deserves a much better partner

  6. I bet the best parts of Dredd are all in the trailer. But it looks pretty good.

  7. I'm wit Pat... it's all in the trailer. I've always dreaded the day there would be a new Dredd. The double D's don't change a thing. At least Stallone could make us laugh. Anyway, one down, ten more to go, like Robocop. Sigh.
    Hotel Transylvania looks great, though.

How come you don't like pop tarts, Dezzy?

P.S. I've been trying to find me a dark blue shirt (really dark), but to no avail, really. Dutch people don't like dark blue or so it seems. :(

    2. we knew you would side with the ebil cat! I think I will like this one more, since I've never liked Sly.
      What Dutch people?

    3. I'm a double agent.... how often do I have to repeat myself, dear Dezzy? You don't like Sly.... well, in that case it makes perfect sense haha. What Dutch people? I guess all of them for there's not a decent quality dark blue shirt to be found anywhere. But I'm not giving up. You see, the ting is I want to feel the fabric before I buy it so I don't want to order it on the internet. Not this time.

    4. You gave up from the white suit or you need the dark blue for some other occasion? I think that you can return for free most of the things you order from the Internet, but I'm not sure :)

    5. Blue guy just knows the cat is always right. So he ageees. Dont like Sly? Yeah he is more take it or leave type movies for the most part. Not like Gibson...lol

    6. pfft, you're more left than right, cat...

    7. Well, you adviced me to wear a dark blue suit with a dark blue suit with a dark blue tie. Sounded good to me for a white suit isn't something I'd wear except when I'm getting married. At least a blue suit can be worn on other occasions, too. I know I can return them, but it's such a hassle. I usually need 15 minutes to buy a suit, shirt and tie, but not when it's not there for me to feel and buy. Today I bought a black trench coat. It took me two minutes. Just don't like shopping too much, I suppose. Sure could use a neighbor like you, Dezz.

@Cat - Always? well, make that often enough. :)

    8. yep, I'd help you shop if me was somewhere closer. I myself bought me a lovely midnight blue polo Tshirt with white stripes, very preppy :) and white shorts to match my new purple/white chequered shirt with short sleeves. I also bought me extremely trendy new flipflops from my fave RAider company. I'm all ready for the summer

      Delete
    9. Sounds like a good deal. I can't walk on flip flops. Makes it difficult to sneak up on people, a hobby of mine. Bought a black trench coat a couple of hours ago. That's about it. I don't own many t-shirts. I do own about 30 LaCoste polo shirts, striped, pink, blue, you name it. Why? Because once I like something because it's good quality or simply because the design looks ok on me, I can't control the urge to buy many of them. The same with my shirts. My students often wonder why I wear the same thing for weeks, but I'm like Jeff in The Fly.... it's the same outfit ten times...

      Delete
    10. once you learn, you never stop wearing them :) And my new ones have rubber soles, which means they are very sneaky...

Ah, but of course, only refined people, like you and moi, wear LaCoste. I also have about 20 in all range of colours.

I hope you do wash the things when you wear them for weeks ;PPP

    11. PS isn't it too early to buy trenchcoats in the summer? Or are you planning on wearing nothing under it and sneaking on people O_O

  11. Big surprise - I'm a fan of Judge Dredd! "I am the law!!" - I will be seeing that movie. Not sure I'll make the trip to the theatre or wait for the DVD.

My, my, doesn't Lena look completely different. I'm a bit scared of her right about now ha ha ha.

I loved the new trailer for Hotel T too. That makes for a great family event!!

  14. Dredd looks action packed, I wonder if it will live up to the comic. They did a nice job on the costume. Happy Smekday and Hotel Transylvania sound/look great, animated films are just getting better and better.

  17. I like the Kiwi's raspy voice. The original with Stallone was cool enough, but I'm betting this will be much better because of the advancement of CG and all the tech Hollyweird has now.

I WILL be watching this one. Thanks for the heads up.
