ITV and Britbox have released a trailer from their four part mini TV series on famous Cary Grant with Jason Isaacs in the lead role which starts November 23rd on ITVX and December 7th on Britbox.

 

ARCHIE  

(his real name was Archibald) will start with his birth in Bristol in 1904 and tell the story of a troubled childhood spent in extreme poverty, dealing with his father’s adultery and the loss of older brother John. At 14, he joined music hall act the Bob Pender Troupe and moved to the U.S. and, soon after, Cary Grant was born. The show will intercut scenes from 1961 when, at the height of his fame, Grant was desperately unhappy in his private life after two failed marriages. Grant then began wooing TV star Dyan Cannon, who was 30 years his junior and didn’t immediately fall for his charms. He married her in 1965 and retired from film acting one year later. The series tells how extreme poverty, his father’s adultery and the loss of his older brother, John, tore the family apart and sent his loving mother into a downward spiral of grief and depression. The script also reveals how deceit, cruelty and one, overpowering lie shaped Archie’s life. Harriet Walter stars as Grant’s mother with Henry Lloyd Hughes also in the cast. Laura Aikman stars as Cary’s ex-wife Dyan Cannon, Dainton Anderson, Calam Lynch and Oaklee Pendergast as young versions of Archie and Kara Tointon, Ian Pulston-Davies, Ian McNeice, Jason Watkins, Lisa Faulkner and Niamh Cusack are also in.

Daily Mail has published first set photos from Cary Grant biopic series ARCHIE which was shot last year and should arrive to ITVX this Autumn together with Winter King. Jason Isaacs leads the four part drama as Cary Grant, who was born in Bristol, England in 1904, as Archibald Alexander Leach! The eight part series, starring Emilia Schule in the lead role follows the famed queen Marie Antoinette, who was the last queen of France before the French Revolution. Louis Cunningham stars as King Louis XVI and James Purefoy as his father!  Marthe Keller, Jack Archer, Jasmine Blackborow, Gaia Weiss, Crystal Sheperd, Caroline Piette, Oscar Lesage, Roxane Duran, Liah O’Prey, Jonas Bloquet, Nathan Willcocks, Laura Benson, Nicola Perot, Paul Bandey, Maximilien Seweryn also star in the international cast. The fun fact for today is that Louis Cunningham who will play Marie's husband King Louis XVI is in real life a grandson of prince Charles of Luxembourg! As Daily Mail writes, eight episode saga will follow incredibly modern and avant-garde young queen who was barely 14 years old when she left Austria to marry the Dauphin of France. Free, independent and feminist ahead of her time, the fearless queen will be played by Emilia Schüle. Beside her and Cunningham, who also starred in Bridgerton, the cast will also have James Purefoy, Marthe Keller and Gaia Weiss as Madame du Barry.
