This should be interesting...
ReplyDeleteIf they do not make it too woke, which they almost certainly will given it is Netflix.
DeleteSounds good. We still don't know who will play the blind sister
ReplyDeleteThere is a blind sister as well? How come they don't have a brother?
DeleteMary was the Ingalls firstborn. Charles and Caroline had four daughters and one son that died while still a baby. In the series they adopt a boy called Albert
DeleteBet Albert will be black in this one.
DeleteGracias por al reseña. La deseo ver. te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteBeso.
DeleteDon't know anyone else, except Jocko Sims in New Amsterdam. So he again plays a doctor.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that you know him, because I have never heard of him before LOL First time for everything.
DeleteThis will most definitely have some woke elements to it. One of the original actresses already said the first one was woke for its time, so I'm sure they'll continue on with their narrative here too.
ReplyDeleteI do expect it to be mega woke, it is Netflix after all.
DeleteHi Theresa, how u doing. You have to remember that ‘woke” meant something different in the 70s. it just meant more progressive. Little House on the Prairie had Black and Native American characters because the Ingalls found them throughout their treks in the West. Caroline Ingalls was not a subservient wife, she was very much a partner to Charles, just like women in the Old West were since they worked shoulder to shoulder with their husbands. In her letters, she wrote about her obsession with providing her daughters with an education, uncommon in a XIX century mother. When you think that both Lauras (series and real life) became teachers and writers at an early age, that must have sounded vert ‘woke” for Victorian standards, yet those things did happen in the West.
DeleteNow, I’ll tell you what my fears are. I don’t mind if, as Gattocito foresees, Albert ends up played by a Black actor, as long as they create a story around him explaining his ethnicity. My fear is that Laura Ingall’s books have been denounced by wokismo as “racists” because in them the author tells us that her mother feared Indians.
Another factor that makes modern sensitivities cringe, is that Laura met her future husband Almanzo Wilder when she was fourteen and he was over twenty. Although it was love at first sight for her, they became an item two years later and married when Laura was eighteen and already a teacher. Nowadays, woke people see Almanzo as stalker who groomed a child to make her his sexual partner. Not understanding the dynamics that ruled romance and marriage in those days and that landscape, could destroy a very romantic story in the new series.
I mean that vile French first granny had sex with Macron when he was fifteen, so this gurl marrying someone at 14 aint that scandalous to me LOL
DeleteThis is the cronology. They met when she was 14 and he was 23. A year later they began courting, and they got married when she was 18. That horrifies woke people. And by the way, the Macron marriage would have ended his political career in America. His constituency wouldn't have stand having a first lady that in their eyes was a child molester.
DeleteI do remember watching some of the episodes with my mom and it was progressive for its time. However, I don't agree with the actress that it was woke. Woke to me would be changing character's races or throwing in a transgender person for the heck of it, or flaunting openly gay relationships or adding in a transgender person and everyone acting like it was normal, when we know those things were not accepted in society back then. I am all for progressive stories and actually encourage them. But wokeness in its current form, I do not support.
DeleteMacron bitch defo is a child molester and she is probably molesting him still. The same as Aaron Taylor Johnson and his decades older wife who seduced him while was 14 as well.
Delete@Theresa
woke is also when they put women in the historical series or films behaving and thinking very modern, like modern feminists. Women back in those days did not see the world the same way we do today, even a few decades ago your granny probably did not see herself abused or depraved for staying home and raising kids, they did it with much pride and honour and everyone was thankful to them for doing it.
