NEW PICS FROM KARL URBAN'S "JUDGE DREDD", "PACIFIC RIM" SF EPIC, "MR. PEABODY AND SHERMAN", "THE WALKING DEAD" SEASON 3 & DEL TORO'S "PINOCCHIO"

OK, people, we haven't done this in a long time, although I know you like it: we're having a photo day today here at HOLLYWOOD SPY, since a bunch of new posters and promo pics have been released for the upcoming projects. First, you can check out the first poster for this September's JUDGE DREDD remake, which will see always amazing Karl Urban playing a futuristic cop who also deals justice and sentences at the spot of the crime. I think a trailer for the film is in due order since there are only a few months left till the premiere. The film also stars Lena Headey from GAME OF THRONES as the main
villain, but the sad news is that Karl will be wearing Dredd's helmet in each second of the sf movie.
PACIFIC RIM SF EPIC
Here's another great picture for today: the exclusive first picture of Idris Elba in Guillermo del Toro's sf epic PACIFIC RIM. He does look rather great in the sf costume, doesn't he? Hitting cinemas next year in summer: when legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of
lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenceless in the face of the relentless Kaiju.

MR. PEABODY AND SHERMAN
First artwork has been released for MR. PEABODY AND SHERMAN animated film which hits cinemas in spring 2014. Based on Jay Ward's classic cartoon, Mr. Peabody is the world's smartest person
who happens to be a dog. When his "pet" boy Sherman uses their time traveling WABAC machine without permission, events in history spiral out of control. It's up to this most unexpected of "father-son" teams to somehow put things back on track before the space-time continuum is irreparably destroyed.

THE WALKING DEAD
All of you, and that would be half of the world, who are obsessed with THE WALKING DEAD smash hit series, will be excited to see the first picture of David Morrissey as the Governor, a new character who will appear in the third season in order to give sheriff Rick (Andrew Lincoln) lots of trouble. As you remember the very end of the second season finished with the look upon a strange domed settlement. It is called Woodbury, it is another settlement of survivors and the Governor is its tyrannical leader. The creators of the show have announced that the character will be nuanced, but pure evil and will be a big series villain.

NEW PINOCCHIO
Then there are also the first concept art pictures from Guillermo del Toro's PINOCCHIO. This 3D stop-motion animation adaptation of the famous tale will see him joining forces with The Jim Henson Co.
You should expect a gritty version, since Del Toro said: "The Blue Fairy is really a dead girl's spirit. Pinocchio has strange moments of lucid dreaming bordering on hallucinations, with black rabbits. The sperm
whale that swallows Pinocchio was actually a giant dogfish, which allows for more classical scale and design. The many mishaps Pinocchio goes through include several near-death close calls, a lot more harrowing moments."

  1. I like the sound of a darker Pinocchio, though to be fair that scene in the Disney version where Lampwick becomes a donkey is pretty creepy.

  2. Bad news concerning Karl Urban and his unfortunate costume. :(

And is it just me who thinks that Pinocchio has a very Tim Burton-ish quality?

  3. WOO HOO Walking dead, a villain huh? That's good because ...well I don't want to get into spoilers but the series could use a villain. That Pacific Rim costume looks badass. Not too interested in Mr Peabody but a new pinocchio should be good, its been too long since the last one, and the style looks dark which is neat.

  4. Hooray for more zombies!!!! I'm so loving you right now, Dezz =)))))

Alright, so we have good cop versus evil villain - just like the Alliance versus the ebil cat? ha ha ha!!

I can't wait for more Walking Dead...it's going to a long summer without it but it's okay, I have my vampires this Sunday. =)

I'm sad to say, Pinocchio gave me the creeps when I was a kid. I can't watch it. I was so scared when he turned into a donkey - ugh!

    1. heh, you're easy to please, Elsie, just horror is enough for you :P
Yes, we're giving Dredd to the Ebil Feline Nemesis.
I was never a fan of Pinocchio either. Him and Popeye were a bit to crazy for me.

  5. Pacific Rim looks and sounds like it will be good. Not so sure on Judge Dredd though after that last outing, but you never know. And of course the walking dead I can't wait for it to come back, even though I hope there is a bit more zombies in it and if that stupid whiny wife dies I'll be very happy.

    That Pinocchio sounds TOO odd.

  12. that dredd poster reminds me of crysis. I like the update for THe Walking Dead, i love that show however season 2 was a bit weak compared to season 1

    1. yep, they wanted to save money by shooting second season in one place, and I guess they will do that with the third season too, so it will probably be totally in that new compound for survivors.

  13. Wow they made sherman even more dorky

  14. Walking Dead just keeps getting better and better, though they did have a few missteps last season.

LOVE Mr. Peabody and Sherman.I used to pretend that I was Mr. Peabody's assistant rather than Sherman since I wanted to ride in the WayBack machine. ;)

Cannot wait to see Karl in Judge Dredd. I just watched him in Red with Bruce, Helen, Morgan and John. He drew my eye every time. He is just so gorgeous.

    1. oh, Karl is like that in every movie. He and Jude Law and Eddie Redmayne and Wenty Miller and Cavill and Luke Evans have that magnetic charisma which stops you from seeing anyone else on the screen.

  15. Morrissey is going to be a great Governor.

  16. Love that JUDGE DREDD poster. It isn't dark enough, though. They should've switched off all the lights. But I have to say... the original was rediculous, so the only way is up, right? (Right?)
