Revival started June 12th on SyFy

 in Australia:  REVIVAL a supernatural horror noir television series based on the American comic book series of the same name by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton. The eight episode series will also stream on Peacock and Crave.

 

 THE STORY

In a rural Wisconsin town, the sudden resurrection of the recently deceased becomes known as "Revival Day". The newly revived maintain their appearance, memories, and personalities from their previous lives. While the town's residents grapple with the miraculous event, local police officer Dana Cypress investigates a murder mystery where everyone, including both the living and the undead, are suspects.

 

WHO STARS IN THE SERIES? 

Melanie Scrofano plays Dana Cypress who is constantly having to prove her worth to a stubborn sheriff, who just so happens to be her father. And just when she is about to leave her small town for good, the events of Revival Day change that, instead sending her into her most important case to date. Romy Weltman is her sister Martha "Em" Cypress who, having led a very sheltered life due to a recurring illness, is still figuring out her place in the world. A world that, for her in particular, is now turned upside down. David James Elliott is Wayne Cypress the longtime Wausau sheriff who is determined to keep his town and family as normal and safe as possible — a tall order when the dead return to life in the small town he's sworn to protect. Andy McQueen is Ibrahim Ramin is a scientist from the Center for Disease Control who has been stationed in Wausau to study the bizarre phenomenon that brought people back to life.

SyFy has revealed lead cast for their new series adaptation of Tim Seeley and Mike Norton’s comic book series REVIVAL. On one miraculous day in rural Wisconsin, the recently deceased suddenly rise from their graves. But this is no zombie story as the “revived” appear and act just like they once were. When local Officer and single mother Dana Cypress (Melanie Scrofano) is unexpectedly thrown into the center of a brutal murder mystery of her own, she’s left to make sense of the chaos amidst a town gripped by fear and confusion where everyone, alive or undead, is a suspect.  David James Elliott will be the Sheriff determined to keep his town and family as normal and safe as possible! Romy Weltman is his daughter, while Andy McQueen will play a scientist brought to study the bizarre phenomenon that brought people back to life.

I'm a bit late with this one, but according to this week's news, Amazon has cast young Sam Strike as the lead star of their THE DARK TOWER fantasy series which is getting a pilot order even though the movie version was a rather big flop two years ago. He will play famous gunslinger Roland Deschain in the small screen adaptation of Stephen King's famous sf saga. As Deadline reports, it will be independent from the film and is meant to be a more faithful retelling of the book than the movie was. The story should take place many years before the events in the film focusing on Roland Deschain’s origin story – how he first became a gunslinger and got his guns, his first conflict with the man in black, his first love and his first mission as a gunslinger. As another addition to the cast, Jasper Pääkkönen has been cast as Marten, a man Roland is out to kill.
