Meanwhile, Universal Television will adapt Zack Kaplan's comic book THE LOST CITY EXPLORERS into TV series following a group of teens who become underground urban explorers after a mysterious expedition leads to the disappearance of one of their fathers. Following his tracks on a  journey through subterranean tunnels, they ultimately find the holy grail of lost cities, Atlantis, buried under New York.

Netflix and SyFy have revealed the first full trailer and poster for their sf series NIGHTFLYERS based on George R.R. Martin's novella and starring Eoin Macken and Gretchen Mol. In 2093, in hopes of making contact with a mysterious alien life at the edge of our solar system, a group of maverick scientists and a powerful telepath embark on an expedition aboard The NIGHTFLYER. As they race towards first contact, terrifying and violent events begin to occur, causing the once tight-knit crew to mistrust each other. It's not long before their main mission becomes survival. SyFy will air the series this Fall before it moves over to Netflix!

Beside A Suitable Boy and Black Narcissus at BBC (whose Ordeal By Innocence has been just set for Easter Sunday), it seems we are getting a new India set series at ITV too after their Indian Summer saga.

I reported earlier last year that George R.R. Martin's novella NIGHTFLYERS is to be made into a TV series, but now SyFy has revealed the cast and it is rather magnificent! The series, which will be aired around the world by Netflix, follows eight scientists and a powerful telepath who embark on an expedition to the edge of the solar system aboard The Nightflyer in the hope of making contact with alien life. But when terrifying and violent events begin to take place they start to question each other and surviving the journey proves harder than anyone thought.

It has been revealed today that Gretchen Mol will star as Dr. Agatha Matheson, alongside Eoin Macken as Karl D’Branin, David Ajala as Roy Eris, Sam Strike as Thale, Maya Eshet as Lommie, Angus Sampson as Rowan, Jodie Turner-Smith as Melantha Jhirl and Brían F. O’Byrne as Auggie. The series will be shot in Ireland.

KATE BECKINSALE TO LEAD

Meanwhile, over  across the pond, British ITV has revealed that Hollywood star Kate Beckinsale is moving over to the small screen in order to topline their new series THE WIDOW which they will produce together with Amazon! She will play Georgia Wells who has her life turned upside down with a phone call in the middle of the night. Her husband of over 10 years, Will, has been reported dead after a plane crash in the Congolese jungle. Three years later, with her old life now a thing of the past, Georgia learns something shocking. Something that will take her to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, looking to uncover the truth about his disappearance. Science fiction Saturday, today: as 'Deadline' is reporting, director James Gray is looking to cast Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones in AD ASTRA sf deep space epic movie in which Brad Pitt would play the slightly autistic space engineer Roy McBride. Twenty years after his father left on a one-way mission to Neptune in order to find signs of extra terrestrial intelligence, McBride travels through the solar system to find him and understand why his mission failed. Tommy Lee Jones would play the missing father. Brad Pitt was previously supposed to star in James Gray's movie The Lost City of Z but he ended up just producing it.

There's also another sf project that I announced earlier but it has now been greenlit by SyFy! They have officially ordered a pilot for sf series NIGHTFLYERS based on a super natural novella by George R.R.
