OUTLAWS is the latest original from ShowMax, South Africa's leading streamer, described as a contemporary Western but set in Africa. THE STORY OF OUTLAWS 

 Set in the lush but lawless land on the border between Lesotho and KwaZulu-Natal, brand new contemporary South African western series OUTLAWS brings the story of two families at war with each other: the Zulu, cattle-farming Biyela clan and the Basotho, cattle-raiding Tseoles.

 WHO IS IN THE CLAN?

 South Africa’s first contemporary Western series is created by Tshedza Pictures’ Phathu Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon. Fresh faces Lehlohonolo Mayeza and Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku co-star as Leruo Ts’eole and Sihle Biyela. Also look out for Siyabonga Shibe as the Biyela patriarch and Mmabatho Mogomotsi as the Ts’eole matriarch, not to mention the likes of Nolwazi Shange and  Thembinkosi Mthembu. The series will be open to international sales as well.

Yet, only with her intelligence and determination, she manages to keep her marriage alive and masters the blood sport that is the monarchy better than anyone else, ruling France for 50 years. South Africa from director Charlie Vundla who describes it, over at Variety, as a Western set in 18th century South Africa, about a Huguenot refugee and her struggle against an abusive husband and an oppressive, racist regime. Maria Mouton is a 16 year old Huguenot refugee sold off like livestock by her father into a foreign world on the South African frontier. She finds herself living in such an oppressive situation kept down by both an abusive husband and a colonial system that defines a woman’s role very narrowly. But this young woman refuses the status quo and attempts to live her truth, with a slave that she falls in love with.

theatres. Written and directed by Oliver Hermanus, the movie explores the life of a closeted young boy serving his mandatory military service in 1980s South Africa, and exposes the psychological violence of institutionalized homophobia.

Nicholas (Kai Luke Brummer) has long known he is different, that there is something shameful and unacceptable in him that must stay hidden, denied even. But South Africa's minority government are embroiled in conflict at the Angolian border and all white young men over 16 must serve two years of compulsory military service. The communism is the real and present threat; what is wrong with Nicholas and others like him can be rooted out, treated

The title of the film is a derogatory word for a homosexual in Africaans

and cured like a cancer. But just when fear pushes Nicholas to accept unspeakable horrors in the hopes of staying invisible, a tender relationship with another recruit becomes as dangerous for them both as any enemy fire.
