MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS will be based on John Guy's The True Life of Mary Stuart which shows her not as a woman who uses her feminine charms to achieve her goals (she was first married to the French king, then to a couple of other aristocrats in Scotland, before being forced to give her throne to her son James after which she was executed by Elizabeth) but as the intellectual and political equal of Elizabeth I. CW's series Reign, which also follows Mary's life, ends with the final ever episode next Friday after four seasons. She married Darnley thinking he will strengthen her claim to the English throne but he got killed in the end.

In the world of the small screens, The Hollywood Reporter writes today that Netflix has hired Age of Adaline and Game of Thrones star Michiel Huisman as the lead in their new THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE ten episode series. The series will be a modern re-imagining of Shirley Jackson's classic 1959 novel of the same name. The story revolves around four people living in an 80 year old mansion. Michiel Huisman will take on the role of Steven Crane, the oldest Crane sibling and a published writer of supernatural books — including a memoir about his family's time living at Hill House. There was a movie version of this story twenty years ago with Catherine Zeta Jones and Liam Neeson.

A few years ago I already informed you that the titular role of the unfortunate and tragic Scottish queen will go to Saoirse Ronan. Her efforts to try to throw down her aggressive cousin Elizabeth from the English throne and the ensuing battle between the two of them will be the main focus of the upcoming period set drama. Although Elizabeth eventually imprisons and beheads Mary, her son James I later gets the throne his mother coveted so much and becomes the king of England, Scotland and Ireland, after Elizabeth fails to give birth to her own heir. CIRCUS AS 'QUEEN OF THE AIR'

After running through jungle with Alexander Skarsgard in Tarzan this summer, it seems Margot Robbie will now be flying through air as well! As 'Deadline' reports today she has taken the lead role in period set biopic QUEEN OF THE AIR based on Dean N. Jensen’s 2013 book of the same name!

The movie will bring us the story of famed trapeze artist Lillian Leitzel and her tragic romance with fellow acrobat Alfredo Codona. The German born Leitzel became a sensation in the 1920s for her death defying stunts, eventually entering into a famously volatile love affair and marriage with Codona. She died tragically in 1931 during a live performance when her rigging snapped; Codona died 6 years later in a shocking Long beach, California set murder suicide.

Animated day today, people, with tons of animated movies having announced stellar voice casts, starting with Dreamworks animation LARRIKINS (Australian slang for a maverick) which will use voices from some of Australia's biggest stars Hugh Jackman, Naomi Watts, Rose Byrne and Margot Robbie! This animal rock 'n' roll musical will follow a desert dwelling marsupial known as a bilby who has lived under a rock his entire life before he is kicked out by his parents and told to get a life. He does so by going on a road trip with a band in the Australian Outback.

Meanwhile, The Weinstein Company has bought distribution rights on Chinese animated adventure THE GUARDIAN BROTHERS (aka The Little Door Gods in China) with Meryl Streep, Mel Brooks and Nicole Kidman lending their voices! It follows a Chinese family in danger of losing its wonton soup shop that’s been passed down generation after generation for hundreds of years. When the family’s grandmother passes away, the restaurant is left in the hands of a little girl named Raindrop and her mother (Nicole Kidman). Millions of miles away in the Spirit World, we meet The Guardians – who have watched over and protected the humans on Earth for centuries. Times are tough up in the Spirit World and two brother Guardians are forced to retire from the business they’ve loved since the beginning of time. Back down on Earth, Raindrop and her mom are fending off a rival soup shop owner’s attempt to sabotage the family restaurant. When the retired Guardian brothers find out, they spring into action.
