The latest to join Guy Ritchie's new TV series YOUNG SHERLOCK is Max Irons who will play Mycroft Holmes, an older brother to Hero Fiennes Tiffin's young Sherlock who at age 19, is disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed, when he finds himself caught up in a murder mystery at Oxford University which threatens his freedom. Diving into his first-ever case with a wild lack of discipline, Sherlock manages to unravel a globe-trotting conspiracy that will change his life forever. News coming from Hulu today for you, beginning with the newly announced pre–apocalyptic crime drama HARD SUN which they will produce in six episodes together with BBC!

Set in contemporary London, it centres on detectives Robert Hicks (Jim Sturgess) and Elaine Renko (Agyness Deyn), partners and enemies who seek to enforce the law and protect their loved ones in a world that every day slips closer to certain destruction. Hicks is a family man and a great, committed officer. He’s also profoundly corrupt. Renko is a difficult and damaged, but utterly incorruptible officer. Thus, the two cops stand on different ends of the social and moral spectrum and also seriously distrust one other – and for good reason. But they must somehow learn to work together if they’re going to survive until the end of the world.

In TV news this Saturday, SyFy has announced that they're developing new sf series based on THE WOODS comic book to be produced and helmed by San Andreas director Brad Peyton!

THE WOODS is set in Wisconsin where an entire high school campus, including the 300 students, teachers, parents and workers who happened to be there at the time, vanishes without a trace and reappears in the middle of the thick woods on the moon of a distant planet. Now their normal lives have suddenly and dramatically changed as they must survive the eerie and dangerous environment while desperately trying to find a way to get back home.

BBC TO ADAPT SEVEN MORE

AGATHA CHRISTIE'S NOVELS  
A word comes over from BBC that they will adapt seven of Agatha Christie's novels into series after And Then There Were None and The Witness for the Prosecution which is currently in production with Kim Cattrall in the lead role. The first among the books which will be adapted in next four years is Ordeal By Innocence which explores the psychology of innocence, while Death Comes As The End, a murder mystery set in Ancient Egypt, and The ABC Murders, a race against time to stop a serial killer who is operating across 1930s Britain, have also been confirmed so far!

'CUCKOO SONG' YA NOVEL

TO BE TURNED INTO TV SERIES
Meanwhile, UK's Catalyst Global Media is planning to make a four part TV series out of Frances Hardinge's YA fantasy novel CUCKOO SONG in which the story is set in 1920s England where a young girl wakes after an accident to find herself and the life around her eerily altered. Her diary is of no help to her memory loss because all of the pages have been ripped out, her sister seems frightened of her and her parents whisper behind closed doors. She soon unearths a magical world and embarks on a quest to repair her broken family which is still haunted by the events of World War I.

While Disney is still planning their NOTTINGHAM AND HOOD in the large scale vein of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, rival project ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS is already casting. After making a choice of Taron Egerton (Jack Huston, Jack Reynor were also considered) in the lead role, they're now considering between Gugu Mbatha Raw (BELLE) and Eve Hewson (THE KNICK, also known as daughter of irritating Bono Vox) for the female lead. This grittier version will see Robin Hood arrive back from the Crusades and recruit his band of Merry Men after finding corruption has spread across Sherwood Forest and Nottingham.

'HOOTEN & THE LADY' INDIANA JONES STYLE TV SERIES
A new TV adventure awaiting us next summer? Yep, British Sky 1 has cast Michael Landes and Ophelia Lovibond as leads in their ambitious new Indiana Jones style adventure series HOOTEN AND THE LADY with eight episodes scheduled for shooting next month in Rome and then across the Globe! Ophelia Lovibond will be Lady Alexandra Lindo Parker of the British Museum, who teams with adventurer Hooten - played by Michael Landes. Together, the pair track down fabled treasures from the past, including the lost Amazonian golden city of Z, the Buddha's missing scroll and the lost tomb of Alexander the Great.

Three trailers for you today, the first being the one for Tom Hooper's drama THE DANISH GIRL in which Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne (could easily get it next year too) plays artist Lili, previously known as Einar Wegener, who became one of the world's first known recipients of gender transformation surgery in 1930. 'THE LAST RACE' CHARIOTS OF FIRE FOLLOW UP MOVIE

As 'Deadline' reports Joseph Fiennes will lead the cast in CHARIOTS OF FIRE follow up movie THE LAST RACE which will follow Scottish runner Eric Liddell after his win at the 1924 Paris Olympics,  looking at his life in China, where he worked as a missionary and died in 1945 in a Japanese internment camp.

  He was originally born in China in 1902 to Christian missionaries. His faith was of profound importance to him. He won gold in the 400m race in the 1924 Olympics but refused to take part in the 100m as it took place on the Sabbath. After returning to China, he was eventually sent to a Japanese internment camp in 1943 following Japan’s invasion of China six years earlier. He would die there of a brain tumour.
