PRE APOCALYPTIC TV SERIES!

News coming from Hulu today for you, beginning with the newly announced pre–apocalyptic crime drama HARD SUN which they will produce in six episodes together with BBC!

Set in contemporary London, it centres on detectives Robert Hicks (Jim Sturgess) and Elaine Renko (Agyness Deyn), partners and enemies who seek to enforce the law and protect their loved ones in a world that every day slips closer to certain destruction. Hicks is a family man and a great, committed officer. He’s also profoundly corrupt. Renko is a difficult and damaged, but utterly incorruptible officer. Thus, the two cops stand on different ends of the social and moral spectrum and also seriously distrust one other – and for good reason. But they must somehow learn to work together if they’re going to survive until the end of the world.

'THE HANDMAID'S TALE' SERIES

ALEXIS BLEDEL JOINS JOSEPH FIENNES IN THE CAST

Hulu has also cast Gilmore Girls star Alexis Bledel for their April 26th dystopian sf series THE HANDMAID'S TALE where she will play Ofglen, a pious rule follower, loyal to the oppressive Gilead system, who turns out to be daring and subversive.

DYSTOPIA OF GILEAD
The adaptation of Margaret Atwood novel is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what formerly was part of the United States. Facing environmental disasters and a plunging birthrate, Gilead is ruled by a twisted fundamentalism regime that treats women as property of the state. As one of the few remaining fertile women, Offred (Elisabeth Moss) is a Handmaid in the  Commander’s (Joseph Fiennes) household, one of the caste of women forced into sexual servitude as a last desperate attempt to repopulate a devastated world.

'MUTE' WITH ALEXANDER SKARSGARD AND PAUL RUDD

We're talking all Netflix today, starting with the news coming from 'Variety' that Justin Theroux has joined Paul Rudd and Alexander Skarsgard in their sf movie MUTE! To be directed by Warcraft helmer Duncan Jones the movie will see Skarsgard portraying a mute bartender in Berlin, 40 years in the future in what has become a roiling city of immigrants, where East crashes against West. His character will be looking for a woman who has disappeared — and when his search takes him deep into the city’s underbelly, an odd pair of American surgeons seem to be the only recurring clue.

'GILMORE GIRLS' FINAL SEASON

 SEASONAL POSTERS ARE HERE!

A treat for the ladies, today! Netflix has released the first four posters for their farewell four episodes for legendary GILMORE GIRLS series which will start airing all of its four new and last ever episodes from November 25th with each episode done in a form of a hour and a half long television episode set in four different seasons, so you will follow the important moments in Lorelai's (Lauren Graham) and Rory's (Alexis Bledel) lives in a spring, summer, autumn and winter setting (hence the title A YEAR IN LIFE), nine years after we last saw the events in Stars Hollow. As you know Lorelai is probably getting back together with Luke, Rory is pursuing her career in politics, and rumour has it one of them might be expecting a baby, but it might just be a rumour!

OLD CAST IS BACK
It is interesting that all of the original cast members are returning for the finale from Lorelai's best friend and business partner Sookie played by Melissa McCarthy to her love played by Scott Patterson, her mother played by Kelly Bishop, Rory's friends played by Keiko Agena and Lisa Weil and the trio of her old boyfriends played by Milo Ventimiglia, Matt Czuchry and Jared Padalecki! Yanic Truesdale returns as Lorelai's concierge.

Star Wars star Daisy Ridley has another new science fiction role in her sleeve: according to latest news coming from 'Variety' she will take the lead role in Doug Liman directed big screen adaptation of Patrick Ness' dystopian trilogy CHAOS WALKING

Set in a world where there are no women and where all living creatures can hear each other’s thoughts the story is centred on the only boy in a town of men, who makes a startling discovery that forces him to flee with only his dog in hand. With the townspeople in pursuit, the duo stumbles upon a strange and silent girl Viola who is the only other person beside him whose thoughts cannot be read. They set off on a white knuckle journey in which the boy must unlearn everything he knows in order to figure out who he truly is.

'DISJOINTED' SITCOM

TONE BELL JOINS KATHY BATES
And here's a fun duo: Tone Bell, whom ever so loved in Truth Be Told, is returning to multi camera sitcoms in Netflix and Chuck Lorre's DISJOINTED in which Kathy Bates stars as Ruth, a lifelong advocate for legalization of pot who’s finally living her dream as the owner of an L.A.-area cannabis dispensary. Joining her are three budtenders, her twenty something son and a deeply troubled security guard. All of them are more or less constantly high. In the 20, already ordered, episodes, Tone Bell will be one of her security guards!

'EMILY & TIM' TRAILER

And here's an interesting movie in which 12 different actors play a married couple EMILY & TIM following their marriage from the first kiss to the last breath with the story covering almost half a century. Alexis Bledel and Olympia Dukakis, alongside Phylicia Rashad are just some of the names in the ensemble cast.

An avalanche of TV news today, lead by the main info that Netflix will officially do a final season of GILMORE GIRLS in the form of four 90 minute TV movies (each set in a different season of the year) with almost all of the original cast returning (lead by Lauren Graham, Scott Patterson and Alexis Bledel)!

EPIC 'TRAN SYLVANIA'

CW has ordered two high concept TV series pilots. The first one is one I mentioned before TRANSYLVANIA. Set in the 1880, it centres on a headstrong young woman in search of her missing father who ventures from NYC to Transylvania where she teams up with a wrongfully disgraced Scotland Yard Detective, and together they witness the births of the most famous monsters and villains in history. 
SF MARS SERIES
They have also ordered an untitled MARS sf series pilot written by REIGN's Doris Egan, following a team of explorers who arrive on Mars to join the first human colony on the planet, only to discover that their predecessors have vanished. Led by a woman whose husband is among the missing, the colonists are forced to change their mission from exploration and settlement to investigation and survival, while navigating the hostile planet and their own personal demons!

CBS ORDERS 'THE GREAT INDOORS' TV COMEDY PILOT

CBS has meanwhile ordered a pilot for new multi camera sitcom THE GREAT INDOORS about an adventure reporter who must adapt to the times when he becomes the boss to a group of millennials in the digital department of the magazine

SKY 1 ORDERS 'THE LAST DRAGON SLAYER' EPIC TV MOVIE

Meanwhile, across the sea, British Sky 1 will turn Jasper Fforde's epic fantasy novel THE LAST DRAGONSLAYER into a TV movie set in a world where magic exists in a weakened form, and has been replaced with modern technology - for instance magic carpets are used to deliver pizzas. Better than drones. The story focuses on 15-year-old Jennifer Strange, who runs an employment agency for magicians and finds out that the last dragon is being hunted.

AMC has released the first poster for their new fantasy adventure series INTO THE BADLANDS which should start airing this November! The six episode series is set in a land controlled by feudal barons telling the story of a ruthless, well-trained warrior named Sunny (Daniel Wu) and a young boy, M.K. (Aramis Knight), who embark on a journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment.

Marton Csokas will play Quinn, the most powerful baron in the Badlands, who spent his youth patrolling the Badlands and killing. Emily Beecham plays The Widow, a regal beauty and a cunning strategist with extravagant, high fashion taste while Sarah Bolger plays Jade, a porcelain beauty who masks her ambition with fragile innocence. Oliver Stark plays the warrior’s son Ryer who has not lived up to his father’s expectations.
