BRENT MORIN JOINS QUAID'S MERRY HAPPY WHATEVER

Our dearest Brent Morin returns to TV sitcoms!

In one of our previous reports on new multicam sitcom pilot orders I told you that Netflix has placed an eight episode order for the first Christmas season of MERRY HAPPY WHATEVER comedy in which Dennis Quaid will play Don Quinn, a strong willed patriarch who must balance the demands of his complicated family with the stress of the Christmas season when his youngest daughter comes home for the holidays with a new boyfriend. Now one of our most favourite comedians Brent Morin has joined the cast together with Bridget Mendler. They've already played a couple in one of the best sitcoms ever Undateable, and now he will play her boyfriend, a struggling musician from LA who will have his hands full as he meets his girlfriend’s imposing father and close knit family over a stressful and emotional Christmas break. Ashley Tisdale, Adam Rose and Hayes MacArthur will also star, Tisdale as the other daughter, Rose as her husband and Hayes as the only son in the family.

DAVID WALTON TO LEAD THE US PROJECT AT CBS
CBS has found leads for their new hybrid sitcom THE US PROJECT in which Elizabeth Alderfer and David Walton will star opposite Parker Young, Vanessa and Laura Marano! It will be a comedy told through

Elizabeth Alderfer (Disjointed) and David Walton (9JKL)

interviews and vignettes spanning 10 years, about how an unlikely couple becomes an unlikely family. Alderfer plays a woman who is not sure her current boyfriend is the right one just when she meets Walton's Kevin, a divorced father of two teens who will transform the next decade of her life.

KATHERINE HEIGL IN OUR HOUSE!

In the slate of new multicam sitcoms with biracial couples as leads, the biggest one is OUR HOUSE also over at CBS which has just cast Katherine

This will be Katherine's first sitcom ever!

Heigl as lead opposite Malcolm Barrett. The story follows a devoted dad, Shawn (Barrett), and mom, Bridget (Heigl), who are committed to raising their children with the love and support the mom never got as a kid but discover how difficult that is with her insane parents and siblings back in the picture. Heigl’s Bridget tries her best to be a laid back, progressive parent like her therapist husband, but often finds herself reverting to the old school style of her parents. Now that she’s moved back into her childhood home, surrounded by her parents and crazy siblings, finding a balance between these wildly different parenting styles is going to be more difficult than she imagined.

UNITED WE FALL AT ABC
Rival ABC has tied Will Sasso and Christina Vidal as leads of their new sitcom UNITED WE FALL a profoundly realistic, multicultural comedy that shows how, when two people, Bill (Sasso) and Jo (Vidal) with young children

and overzealous extended families truly love each other, barely anything is possible. I've already told you that Jane Curtin will play Bill's difficult mother and Jason Michael Snow Bill's brother!

Definitely one of the most exciting news of the season is that Fran Drescher is returning to the small screens in NBC's UNINSURED sitcom which revolves around young parents Dave (Adam Pally) and Rebecca (Abby Elliott), who end up having to take care of Dave’s parents, Elliot and Linda (Drescher) who have mishandled their finances and need help to pay down a sizable debt. Now they've cast Steven Weber as Dave's father Elliot! Weber will still play in three other series in which he has regular roles!

list of challenges he wrote for himself years ago in an effort to turn around his banal life. Raymond Ablack, Michael Cassidy, Taylor Dearden and Ana Villafañe have joined the comedy as his friends. This one will also have a biracial couple as Ablack will play Briga's boyfriend.

We're family friendly today, people! I shall first entertain you younglings with the first trailer for animated sequel THE NUT JOB 2: NUTTY BY NATURE which will squirrel its way into theatres sometime next August with the voices of Katherine Heigl, Jackie Chan and Will Arnett.

Surly and his friends, Buddy, Andie and Precious discover that the mayor of Oakton City is cracking one big hustle to build a giant yet quite shabby amusement park, which in turn will bulldoze their home, which is the city park, and it's up to them and the rest of the park animals to stop the mayor, along with his daughter and a mad animal control officer from getting away with his scheme, and take back the park.

AMC has released the first poster for their new fantasy adventure series INTO THE BADLANDS which should start airing this November! The six episode series is set in a land controlled by feudal barons telling the story of a ruthless, well-trained warrior named Sunny (Daniel Wu) and a young boy, M.K. (Aramis Knight), who embark on a journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment.

Marton Csokas will play Quinn, the most powerful baron in the Badlands, who spent his youth patrolling the Badlands and killing. Emily Beecham plays The Widow, a regal beauty and a cunning strategist with extravagant, high fashion taste while Sarah Bolger plays Jade, a porcelain beauty who masks her ambition with fragile innocence. Oliver Stark plays the warrior’s son Ryer who has not lived up to his father’s expectations.

While we are anxiously awaiting to get the first pictures from MTV's small screen epic series adaptation of famous SHANNARA novels, the casting for the supporting parts is still on, and 'Spoiler TV' reports of two new names in the cast: James Trevena Brown will play Crispin Edensong (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Captain of the Home Guard, who swears to protect Wil and Amberle on their perilous journey. Emilia Burns (Terra Nova) will be Commander Tilton, the Captain of the Black Watch, the legendary protectors of the Ellcrys and the Gardens of Life.

ELVES AND MAGIC
The story follows the SHANNARA family, whose descendants are empowered with ancient magic and whose adventures continuously reshape the future of the world. Brooke Williams is Catania, a witty and wise Elf who is not only Elven princess Amberle’s (Poppy Drayton) handmaiden, but her trusted best friend in the palace. Daniel MacPherson is Arion, the heir to the Elvin throne. Arion takes himself very seriously and is the opposite of his wilder brother Ander (Aaron Jakubenko). Marcus Vanco plays Bandon. Feared by his family for his mysterious visions, Bandon is discovered by Elvin prince Wil (Austin Butler) and Amberle starving and chained to a wall. Druid Allanon (Manu Bennett) takes special interest in him, believing his abilities will be integral in saving the Four Lands. Cast also includes Ivana Baquero (Eretria, a human thief) and John Rhys-Davies (King Eventine, Amberle's grandfather, who has ruled the Elvin kingdom of Arborlon for decades)!

TO PLAY COLOMBIAN DRUG KINGPIN IN 'THE GODMOTHER'

After a long break, Welsh queen Catherine Zeta Jones will take on a lead role again! She will topline THE GODMOTHER, a biopic of infamous drug kingpin Giselda Blanco! She was the only woman to ever rise through the ranks of Colombian's notorious Medellin cartel, a feared figure during the drug wars that exploded in Miami during the 1970s and 1980s. She was said to have ordered hundreds of assassinations to attain her grip on the drug trade, which earned her nicknames such as La Madrina, Black Widow, and the Cocaine GODMOTHER. She was known for establishing a drug network between New York, Los Angeles and Colombia! She was arrested in the mid 80's and served 18 years in jail before getting killed in 2012, shot in a drive-by!  Catherine Zeta Jones won an Oscar nomination for playing a druglord's wife in TRAFIC!

Two trailers for you today, starting with the one for Patrick Wilson and Katherine Heigl black comedy HOME SWEET HELL,  which centres around businessman Don Champagne (Patrick Wilson) who has an affair with his employee (Jordana Brewster). When she becomes pregnant and attempts to blackmail him, his demanding wife (Katherine Heigl) knows there is only one solution - murder.

The second trailer for today is the first teaser for Pixar's animated movie INSIDE OUT which hits cinemas next summer. It follows little Riley who is, like all of us, guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy  Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control centre inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.
